No need to drive to Sagunay. Try hotel Marineau Matawin. Short drive north of Trois Riveries, clean, safe, reasonably priced. Then ride north and west.

  4. Back home this morning but yesterday we got up and the trails right from Drakkar parking lot were groomed. We decided to just follow the groomers work for the day. We never left a freshly groomed trail. Some parts we were first tracks. Saw maybe 6 sleds all day. Beautiful day out. Plenty of snow and trails were perfect going west from shawinigan. FYI part of trail 3 from the rang de la rivière Batista nord-est towards shawinigan was groomed in front of us Sunday night (even passed the groomer) but doesn't show up on the grooming map as was the northern trail coming from 351 where it hits the same river a mile north. The gps beacons must not be working but they were groomed and were great. In fact those two sections are the only pieces that are showing white on this mornings grooming map. ?? Plenty of snow in shawinigan.

  6. Hi Dynomite, St Raymond to Passions is a long day. I don't know what you normally do for mileage but I see it is a least you and your wife. Check and make sure that it is within your comfort range. You don't want to overdo the first day. Jack & Sandi

  7. Hi RR, We were speaking with a group yesterday morning that had come up from Maine and were doing the Gaspe. One person was Josh if I remember correctly. That is great to hear that Matane is passable now. We wish them the best on the rest of the loop. Jack & Sandi

  8. Good morning, had some friends leave RDL yesterday heading for Gaspé. They were into Matane last night around 5:30. They reported several detours but did make it over all the river crossings including the Metis in Mont Joli and the Tartigou in Saint Damase. They said there was plenty of snow cover, especially as you got inland away from the river. Happy Trails RR

  9. We got our first day of riding in yesterday after bailing on our Pittsburg-RDL-Maine loop due to trail flooding. Great decision to come to Saguenay. Left the Delta yesterday for lunch at Onatchaway and on toKM31. Trails were in great shape. We passed a groomer on the 477 Orange trail. 93 fromPassion Quebec to KM 31 was the best we have ever seen it-no bumps. Going to try the Pelchat trail today. Thanks to Bill for recommending that we come up.

    23 river crossing ok?

Yep! Crossing is mint. We took Grand Mere up to Mekinak this morning. Single track part of the way up top, but very decent all the way.

  14. Great ride yesterday. Very cold in the morning. Left Delta at10 AM, took 83 east, all but 12 miles freshly groomed, to 383 split. 383 to the bridge just before Ferland has not been groomed since Friday nights snow but had been groomed just before melt down. Trail was one sled wide with a foot of snow on both sides. After bridge trail was again freshly groomed. Had a great lunch in Ferland. Got back to Delta. Temp was -4F when we got in. Right now it is -26F. No black flies or mosquitoes this morning.

  17. Eight of us were planning a trip for a few weeks and last Saturday four of us brought a seven day pass from friday So we left Friday am because we had to use oue seven day pass and it starting raining hard the minute we got over the border and the trails were like a river got stuck many times in the fields so about 8 miles into this our gear was all wet six inches of water in our boots ,so we found a little restaurant and the lady was so nice she let us dry off all our gear and boots in her dryer for about three hours and then we drove back about two miles on a paved road and found a short cut back to the border crossing and headed back to our camp in clarksville NH, So for our first trip ever on sleds to Canada it was a disaster paid for a seven day pass and only used about five hours of it...not sure if it was worth it ..lol
