    850 Backcountry 2018

Love my SKI-doo's. This sled is my 14 th new one since coming to Quebec. Came off a 2016 Enduro . Great handling sled with all the bells and whistles. R-Motion skid and TS skies. The only bad choice was the power plant 1200 4-TEC and electronic throttle. Had good star off snap and mid range but no long legs only 130 HP. Throttle too sensitive on ditch banging. The worste was in snow storms the snow would pack @ hinge of flapper and restrict it. Enough with that. BCX 650 with it's new CMotion skid is awesome featuring the tip rail the 146 track corners better than the 137. I adapted to the DS stock skies and ran them well. For sure a aggressive trail ridding sled if you care to take part. Ran spindle spacer at the widest setting. Looking at putting a set of TS skies on her. Like the toggle switches on console great with my mitten gloves. Running the high windshield with wind deflectors, Clear stock hand guards and hands plenty warm. Last run out was very cold. The mountain loop strap i left on to hang my helmet on. The 165 HP is a must have option. I can ride @ 70MH and at a rise in trail whack it and the front end floats right up. Oil on last trip getting 160 miles per liter. Oil is consumed as how you ride the throttle. ICEman and I figured out best mileage running SUPER. 2800 miles on her now only had to change chain oil and adjust slack. My opinion this seld has a lot of fun factor !! Four year spring check warranty. I am going to run it. One other note. The seat is great for touring. Rode one day 327 miles PERFECT !

Well we changed directions today due to the weather calling for freezing rain potential on Thursday in Matane. So this morning we went to Chanel du Nord then took Benoit’s trail over to the Pelchat trail and ended up at KM 31 tonight. Going to play in the Monts tomorrow then head for the Abitibi on the 93 Wednesday then back the 83 eventually Shawinigan. Want to stay where the cold is. Oh well we will be back up March 2 maybe try again. By the way the trail from Chenal du Nord to Pelchat trail was outstanding,, we hit some impressive drifts!

  3. I must have been spoiled by a former saddlebag partner! SnowCrazed thinks it would be cool to go EST to some remote forgotten town with a 1950's motel that was probably featured in one of Stephen King's books. Actually, I forgot to mention last night's wine, a vin blanc, chardonnay, best I ever had. My idea of saddle bagging would be riding the sled to the Levesque for supper and bringing the leftovers back in a doggie bag. mike (2 of the 4 groomers at RDL club).

We are in Heberrville tonight, plan to do the Cave tomorrow and onto Chanail or Forestville tomorrow night. Wednesday head for Sept Isles, or this is the plan. However we all know what can happen when the trail maps are spread out on the bed the night before and are reviewed with a cocktail!!

    Motel in Shawinigan

Hello everybody, long time follower of Quebec rider, first time posting. We are coming up to Shawinigan on 2/18, riding up to the delta the next day to do some day rides for three days, then going back to Shawinigan on 2/23. We got into Auberge Drakkar on the 18th, however they r full on the 23rd. My question is about the Hotel Marineau in Shawinigan. Safe to leave trucks and trailers there for five days? Any other suggestions? We are driving from Buffalo and trying to keep the drive to 10 hours.

  6. Hi Mike. Sandi says you are coming out of your shell. Retirement is doing you well. We might try to schedule something for the beginning of March at RDL also. We are at the Delta right now. We are going to give Sandi's 1200 a run tomorrow and see if the anti-freeze leak is fixed. Lets cross our fingers. Jack & Sandi

We left the trucks there for 8 days a few weeks ago and no issues. Nice small place. Fuel and convenience store and McDonalds across the rd.

  11. Today I had the smoothest trails possible This morning I was in the hot tub. And tonight I had the best duck ever at the Levesque. You might want to be driving the groomer ahead of me going EST!!! to get me to leave RDL. Not to mention I think I've seen about a thousand sledders head EST in the past few days. We will have time to negotiate my terms of traveling EST. If I were you, I would find a chef to go along on our trip, and book hotels with only the best of spas. We will need to hire someone to drive my truck from hotel to hotel to haul my necessary survival gear. Start planning!!! mike

Day 2 was a brand new day! The groomer God’s worked their magic all the way to Forestville👍 Only issue was after gassing up at Escoumins the wind began to howl and the snow was really coming down, fun stuff til we pulled into the Econo Lodge in Forestville for the night. This should make trails entertaining tomorrow

    Mrs Ice Rides Again

Caught up with Alain and Kri Kri at breakfast this AM always great to see them. Nice ride back to Chez Ice. Trails all good from La Tuque to Shawingan quick ride back the wife is really getting the hang of it. Smooth sailing and she enjoyed having the Sena radio to communicate. Worked out excellent. Home to get some things done here before the snow. Off to meet Playhard and his gang tonight for dinner at Le Trou Diable. Good times. Really proud of my wife Caro, she is excited to get out again. Gonna have to take her out during her school break coming up here in March. 4 days of work then off to Matane. Back Sunday night. Then 3 more work days before flying off to Indianapolis. Time flies.

Day one mostly trail 3 to Bair st Paul for the night. From just north of Quebec City area to 25 miles south of BSP the 3 was trashed! I don’t think we ever ran such a long stretch of trail that bad. I was ready for a hot shower and a couple Advil. Room at motel Chalets chez Laurent was great
