  1. Ray, it may cost me a steak or two, but when I tell Lois how much better the '2019 ACE 900 is over her '16 900, my steak bill will be a lot cheaper than your new sled bill. There seems to be inquiries about what new sled Farmerold is driving this year. All I can say is it is way above my pay grade to reveal that kind of information. It is such all encompassing gigantic news that such a leak could harm national security. Had a chance to talk to SnowDog,, talk to Jak, and finally got to meet Scorpionbowl and his friend Marty. New sled, new and old friends, what a great day to start out the RDL season. mike

  2. Levis to RDL, 270 miles. 75 to 55 to 35 to 5 all perfect 10 except for minor drifting in the fields. Beautiful day, wicked base on the trails, pulled out 2 Canucks. if u think it's cold u picked the wrong sport. We usually only stop for gas, but I was able to get one pic, didn't get a pic of the amazing sunset into the hotel.

  3. It's that time of year to keep each other up to date on the trail and snow conditions of the Riviere du Loup area and a way to catch up with friends staying in the area and those saddle bagging through the region in hopes we can at the very least say hi and maybe even pop the cork on a bottle of wine. Cheers, Mike

  10. I did go on a short jaunt with the Mayor. He was itching to give that new 900 a little trot or should I say gallop. He didn't let those ponies rest. When we arrived back at the Universal, his smile said it all. FamerOld was in western Quebec earlier this week. I think he is due for an oil change already. That is a hint on the motor type folks and the motor breaths naturally. He covers a lot of trail too! I've got the 850 back with the new 1.6" cobra track on it. I've got to learn how to ride again. The Mayor couldn't find the trail leaving the hotel so he went over the snow bank. I followed him and didn't make it. A little throttle on the 850 spins that track and if you are not ready for it, it will dig down to the dirt and leave the skis pointing up. Embarrassing! 🙁 But it was a fun late afternoon ride to get loosened up. Today looks like a fine day, sunny and -13C. Jack & Sandi

  18. Thanks everyone!!!!! Looking forward to meeting all you folks in my future rides. Usually start my bag rides from RDL, 4 points Sheridan (now called something else) Levi and like to enter Jackman/ Fort Kent depending on the 14 day ride plan. This year I only could do one trip and already completed my 700mile ride North of the La Cabanon( Between Xmas/New Years. That trip always starts my season.Good friends with Dennis and Diane so will always support them. Enjoyed watching the dogs do there thing at La Blanc. 723D19CB-8059-4673-8B6A-E5B2C45F792B.MOV

I have the recessed latch on my Blizzard on both the front and back. No issues at all. My buddy has the cam lock type, no issues with that either. I’m not sure it much matters...to me anyhow. I do like the man door and use it all the time. Gas doors, just once in a great while. If you can, get the torsion sprin assist on the front door too. The older I get, the heavier mine gets.

  22. First run up at the chalet, week end with the wife so can’t leave her alone too long. Blue jay day on Saturday, Sunday supposed to be too but heavily overcasted with some blowing snow. Visited the Relais in the area checking out the locals and getting some trail info. 53 in the park leaving from Le Mulet is plowed and sanded, I’m told only for a few klms, after taking a look I did a quick u turn, lots of sand no thank you. Club house parking lot full house must’ve been 100 vehicles and trailers. Railbed beat to shit with the traffic, local trail to Mulet in good shape, the 43 over to Pourvoire Douze in good shape surprisingly considering its in the mountains. Pourvoire Douze is no longer a Relais, restaurant is for overnight guests only. 3 restaurants in town Resto Chez Linda, La Madorick both on the railbed and one little gem off the beaten path called Chez Pepere, she is the only one in town with a liquor license, Resto Chez Linda will tell you she’s getting one in 3 weeks but she’s been telling me that every time I go there since August. Somethings Up with that. Lake in front of the house has seen some traffic so I go and investigate, bording the lake I’m stuck, front of the sled plowed in the snow and the track spun itself down to the ice and now is spinning, give her a little shake back’n fourth and I’m off but not with out struggling. Seems the new snow is not set yet on the ice and there’s some water underneath. The front is plowing the deep snow and the track is spinning like crazy so I b-line it down the shore line where I can get off then look back, I see a trail of slush. Glad I didn’t go any further out.

Thanks a lot guys for all your comments, all the information you’ve provided has been most helpful. I guess I didn’t make it clear from the start weather I’m going to an in-line or a deckover. In line is what I’m targeting for towing reasons, 7 x 18 seems to be the best fit from your comments if I could go 7 1/2” with out the inner fender wells would be an added bonus, I’ll have to inform myself at the trailer manufacturer. All aluminum is a must. Jack....your grommet idea, really smart. Thanks a lot. It seems everyone agrees on the torsion axles too, so torsion axles it is. I have torsion on my Triton clamshell and it’s done me well. The single recessed rear door latch is a great idea but not sure if it would be available at the manufacturer I’m targeting. I am however very interested to hear from your experiences about the pedestrian door recessed latch or the cam lock one, very much like the ones you see on the back of semi trailer vans. Pros and cons. With all the other comments on side door, front ramp, gas doors, aluminum wheels, lights and so on that tells me it pretty much boils down to a personal preference. Thanks again for sharing your trailers, experiences and ideas feel free to continue. JG

  40. 40 mile loop late afternoon with Jack and a mystery rider who pulled in behind us and rode the loop with us. Back to the hotel when we found out it was none other than Farmerold tagging along. Conditions are mint. Initial impressions of the new 900 (non turbo): Sweetest sled ever! Note the trail no longer starts behind the hotel. Now you need to go next door to the gas station, follow the trail along the road for a couple hundred yards and then bear left. It quickly meets the old trail. Good luck guys trying to get a free drink out of this tight ward. mike

  43. Jean-Guy, My sincere condolences to you and your family. I loved your father, he was like you...strong willed lets say. I will always remember that he dressed in his work shirt when I would visit...but also that he went to the dealership on his electric scooter when he wasn’t suppose to. As sad as today is for you and for me, we are both saying farewell to a parent, your dad, my mom, I think its like we are again connected. I love that you think your dad is picking my mom up on a new skidoo to take her to heaven, just hopefully he doesn’t have a communicator on his helmet because she talks a lot! Since my first trip to the Gaspesie, my mom had told me her family was from Gaspe. Another reason I must feel at home there. I will be holding your hand today from far away and you mine, as we say farewell to them. Be strong, think of all the good times. Hugs, Linda

  47. Anybody ever heard of a "plantar fascia?" Nah, me neither! Apparently it's important for keeping the foot all connected from the bottom. And I can tell ya, it frickin smarts since my left one went "pop" last night while fueling up to head north! It was hysterical at 3:00am when the doc came back from radiology smiling and shaking his head saying: "Your foot anatomy is NOT NORMAL!" So much for 32 year-old Honda XL vs Ford LTD carnage! So for now I can't walk on it. I could ride! But I'm heading into NYC Monday to see a specialist. Y'know surfing around WedMD is great for nightmares: Minor = 2-3 weeks. Major = Happy Easter! Thanks for the insights on this loop! Now please go put some miles on up there and post some pics for the rest of us! Sorry no trail pics at this time! Soon, very soon!...
