  1. Having already reached our 7th and last day of travel on Saturday March 7, 2020, we therefore had to try to return home near Joliette ... from Hébertville, It's a good run! For our friend snowcruiser it was around 225 miles to get home in Champlain sector and he had kindly offered us to sleep there if necessary so we had a plan B in bank but with the exceptionally nice conditions we had, leaving early Hébertville we were able to cover the 325miles during the day and arrive at our home a little past 7:00pm without forcing and we enjoyed this day to the maximum. Unfortunately, I ran out of space on my camera memory card for the very last bit, but I still have a good big video for the day Here the last video summerizing day #7: Héberville/Joliette 325 miles Which concludes my ride report from our 2020 sled vacation. It was a first for me to make a detailed report on our annual vacation, it's a lot of work in video editing but it will make us outstanding memories of our trip for Kristine and me as well as our faithful riding partner Snowcruiser. Sorry for the long delay to complete. hoping you enjoyed the ride! Alain

Left the Atlantic Host in Bathurst heading towards Wilson's Sporting Lodge in Doaktown. Flat light and flat trails. Very fast ride to Serpintine, in for lunch & gas, snowing very hard at this point. Headed south towards Doaktown, still making really good time. Pulled to Wilsom's about 5 as it started to rain. Great accommodations but no restaurant. Hopped on sled and went to Tipsy Canoe for dinner in the pouring rain. If you ever want a fast run this is the route to take. Wide trails with big sweeping corners and no speed limit in New Brunswick.

  4. Today's run was down 85 trail was flat and hard with the outside temp of 7degrees. Right onto 526 nice and smooth still awsome. We took a left on 35 got gas in pohenegamook btw it's about 5k down the lake from the north side. On another note saw like 20 deer from the lake up to 561. We stayed on 35 and cruised over to squatec for a top off. From 85 about halfway across was not groomed yet. We took 571 north was awsome nice and wide and groomed flat. At 5 I decided it was to early to head for the hotel my great gf said she was fine with extra miles😀. Down 5 to club de motoneige. Dropped off the backside on 518 we ran this over to 571. This trail was beautiful as far as the scenery but alot of it has not been groomed. At 571 we jumped up to 5 and headed in we cruised down 5 nice and smooth. Went straight onto 565 it is our new way into RDL. 242 miles great day see what happens tomorrow.

  6. Finishing saddlebag trip. Saturday night, Bernieres, south of Q city. Sunday night la tuque. In restaurant they spaced out the few people in there. Plenty of people out riding the last 2 days. Yesterday got back to the Delta and our truck (which someone hit😞). Its pretty weird here. 4 other sleds in compound, Ontario guys, leaving today. Delta is 10 story hotel. It only has 4 floors open. Bar closed, restaurant, last night, while we were there, had those 4 guys and 2 other couples. Except for carryout, as we understand, dining rooms are closed at mcds, Tim's, and St. Hubert's. Facebook is listing more and more relays closing. We were going to day ride for a few days and head home on the weekend, now not sure. I feel like we've walked into a Stephen King novel. And to add insult to injury the trails are in great condition.

  7. ****Day#6**** View from pavilion #1 on the St-Laurence river when going for breakfast in the morning ... We finally decided to bypass Quebec City for the return, so we reserved for the night at the Auberge du Presbytère in Hébertville! It is therefore northbound for the day on trail # 83 which is a beautiful trail pleasant to ride Here is a short video summarizing our day #6: la Malbaie/Héberville 160 miles overview of our room relaxing in front of the fireplace ... Last day to come soon ...

  8. ***** day4***** Another gray day for us with mild weather and snow (fortunately the last gray day of the trip) but plan A which was to spend the day visiting the peaks of the Valins Mountains has become much less interesting by not having visibility. So go with plan B, we leave and go down to Les Escoumins to sleep via the Pelchat trail. The last time we did it was in 2003 or 2004 even before it was a federated trail so we were due for a refresh! Because of the sticky snow, impossible to film while riding in the morning but the snow was less sticky on the Valins mountains so I brought out the camera after lunch and cleaning the lens from time to time I could capture some good images. Here on #93 to Monts Valin #31 Auberge Here a short video summerizing day#4: Mont-Vilain(Lamarche)/Escoumins 180 miles Day 5 coming soon...under the sun!

  9. *****Day#3****** We started our day ride from Roberval and stopped at the Mont-Vilain outdoor center in Lamarche for the night via the 49e Parallèle trail. Being in the area of a good friend, I had wrote to him a couple day before that we would be in his part of the country and not having seen him since near 10 years, I was hoping that we could meet somewhere during my trip. Well, he came to have breakfast with us at Château Roberval on Tuesday morning ... on his 20" Bearcat, a near 100miles run to come to join us, he left home at 4:10 in the morning !!! this is a real one! He then accompanied us by sled all the day and we had supper with him and his wife who came to join us at Mont-Vilain after her work . Thank you very much Michel and Louise for having came with us, we had a real great time all together! The day was mostly cloudy but we also had some sunshine. Here is my video summarizing day #3: Roberval/Mont-Vilain, Lamarche 201 miles And for the night after Chateau Roberval, the Mont-Vilain teepee! I had booked the evening before and my wife was sure it was a canvas teepee with the closets outside ... she was angry at me!!! In the end it is very small but double bed, toilets and showers inside, warm and nice. We had a great night in there 4th day coming soon ...

  10. My sentiments exactly, no sense unwittingly transporting the virus to others or risk picking it up going from place to place. Governments are urging to stay home as much as possible and avoid unnecessary travel. Be safe everyone.

  11. Its time to stay home and let this thing run its course, so we can get back at it next year. Hope you all get thru it well.

  12. Today's run was much shorter grey skies and flurries today. But the trails were groomed flat again I dont want to go home lol. We decided to take 567 by the river this trail is very scenic with the right weather. I suggest people drop off of 5 and check it out if you get the chance. Back on 5 we cruised over to 571 down to 544 west. All Smoth except the occasional drift. At 565 we drop down to 85 perfect glass think we only saw five sleds all day. Cruise up to 544 take a left for a little detour at 40 we jump over to 526 north all flat I love this area. At 85 we head back to the hotel. Early start on black road tomorrow. About 134 miles today but reached my goal of 4000 for the year. Wish I could stay but back to work. Noticed most club houses are closed now from covid 19. But regular gas stations are open business as usual.

  14. From Alliance du nord SC. This decision is not ours to make but that of the Fédération des clubs motoneige du Québec. A portion of the TQ-83 trail has officially closed until further notice. If this happens, you will not be able to fill up your gas tank in Wemotaci nor refuel. Access is prohibited due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please plan your travel accordingly. Let's be good citizens and avoid travel as much as possible. Please be aware that this situation is beyond our control. Thank you for your understanding.

  15. Kind of lucked out in this regard - have a self contained log chalet, food, and gas in cans for a week - was supposed to move on to Amqui for tours around there, thought twice about that due to the close quarters of the next lodging and extended our stay in the Saint Raymond area. Little traffic on trails in good condition and as spouse's first season on a sled, this worked out well. We stay a good 2 meters away from any visitors - only the hot tub technician has been by - and practicing proper safe self - isolation procedures,,,, Supposed to snow and then rain today - earlier rain a couple of days ago actually firmed up the trail base around here.

  18. **** Day#5**** When we pass near we always try to encourage the Pelchat, they do a lot for the snowmobile in the area. They have beautiful facilities, not super luxurious but well above average and all focused on service/functionality. The lounge where we had our included breakfast With view on the pool that we did not tried this time You can even buy snacks on the spot next to their breakfast bar which is very good Plan A was to cross at Tadoussac to follow #3 trail and then go up on #83 trail to spend the night at Ville de la Baie in Saguenay which was around 180miles but we suspected that in after storm trail conditions and with our tiredness of the previous day we should probably adjust our plan, which we had to do despite the fact that we had a lot more fresh groomed trails than we hoped for. What was groomed was extremely soft and the portion of #3 trail from Baie Ste-Catherine to the Charlevoix area is very narrow and winding and therefore we switched to plan B: sleep at la Malbaie Here a first video summerizing the first of day#5: Escoumins/la Malbaie 141 miles And the 2nd video for the 2nd half to La Malbaie The pavillons du petit manoir du Casino are obviously a little more luxurious and therefore more expensive. Only disappointment, unlike previous times, there was no shuttle available for supper at the Petit manoir du Casino, we had to take the snowmobiles. However, a shuttle was available on the next morning for the breakfast, but it was a bit unpleasant to have to travel to eat each time. Next time I will try to stay directly at the Petit Manoir which would be more convenient with all the services on site. Our room And spa relaxing in the evening even outside! Anecdote: we had a fireplace in our room corner and when we went to bed and turning off the lights we found the switch to turn it on and the lighting made an incredible atmosphere in the room so we left it on but we didn't think it was heating for real ... we woke up sweating in the middle of the night it must have been above 80F in the room !!! day # 6 to follow soon ...

  20. Well, I guess at this point I’ll change the oil and put the sleds away. We’re hunkered in at home, and that is probably for the best. Sure hope we don’t run out of toilet paper. All of you in the QR world, stay safe and healthy.

  21. Was a strange feeling on the weekend walking into a place filled with large groups of tourists from France. Did not interact or sit near them at all. Other than that didn't see any effect on the number of riders out in St Michel Des Saints, 100 Lacs area. 100 Lacs was jammed friday night and repos was slammed saturday afternoon. Trails were superb as were the accommodations and food at Pouviore 100 Lacs and Pourvoire Pignon Rouge Mokocan. Beautiful cabin at Pignon, the food was delicious and all you can eat! Don't be shy about stopping in....

Trust me....Wemo is not red on IMotoneige because of trail conditions or lack of snow. this shit is getting “out of hand” when this happens. God bless us all through this and hopefully it will pass sooner than later. myself.....I’m hoping they shut the border and that will be the excuse to my wife that after 13 days straight I’m gonna stay with the old man and dog at Halta indefinitely. will be heading out of Halta back to the truck at Lecabanon tomorrow morning. Snowmobile seasons come and go but this WILL BE one I WILL NEVER forget

  33. So! Last day of this ride! Pretty straight forward 220mi west! No worries about the 48hrs of freezing rain along the seaway. Videos on TV were surreal chipping 1/2" of ice crust off of cars. iMoto/FCMQ says all groomed, door to door. And forecast is clear. Sure enough all fields looked skating ready. Charlevoix views always awesome. By mid morning heavy traffic headed east, but all well behaved. Not bad at all thru QC proper. And literally the only bumps were the 3 on both sides of a power-line right of way, purposely put there as "speed bumps".

    La Tuque to.....

Thursday 3/12 we enjoyed a great evening with Snowmaster 2112 at Lac Faillon. We awake to pounding on our door, yep it’s Snowmaster telling us to get the ....up it’s 10:30, he charges in our room grabs his helmet he left in our room and outside he goes. It’s really only 7am but he’s ready so we get up and eat breakfast. We leave about 9 and the 83 to Balbuzzard our first “stop” was mint, as it was the rest of the way to Clova. We had intended to ride to Parent with Snowmaster who going to then head south and IKE and I were going to stay at Parent but with the rain they were calling for in La Tuque on Friday we hammered all the way to La Tuque and ended the trip early (385 miles for the day) . It was a great season, crazy weather for sure but one of my most memorable ones with a great riding partner and many memorable times . Thank you also to Triggerhappy and Snowmaster2112, two awesome guys to ride with!
