The Hotel was able to buy the land in back of hotel. They will construct mini-houses to rent as part of the hotel. 24 total when finally completed.

  2. This. Unless you lived it, or treated it, you really don't understand what's going on. Sensationalism and data picking on both sides.

Been there many times. Love the bar. Went there about 7 years ago with 10 guys. They said we had no reservation, our guy who books the room had the date wrong and we were actually supposed to be there the next day. They had no rooms as a hockey tournament was in town. It was a mad scramble to find places to sleep for 10 guys. Ended up staying in this complete dive, slept with my riding gear on it was so bad. LOL

  5. I think Mike Rider nailed it. TY The word transferable refers to only the $ balance of the registration that has already been prepaid. NYS residents are allowed to transfer and gift the balance of the registration to others. The non transferable registration simply means you cannot gift the balance and the new purchaser must re-register and pay for a new registration. I originally thought the transferable or non transferable was to transfer the title. Hparapter - You live in NY and your sled reg is always gunna be transferable. Anyone out of state will be Non transferable.

  6. Yes it's all a farce. My brother's a paramedic. Explain that to him. He just moved a 50 year old patient between ICU wards. Guy had no pre-existing health conditions before covid. Looks like he will survive, but will need a ventilator for the balance of his life as his lungs are toast. He's seen many 30 and 40 year olds dealing with blot clots and the related strokes they cause. Not the 1 in 100,000 from the Astra Zeneca shot. The 1 in 5 for covid patients that get admitted to hospital that this occurs to. Again no pre-existing health issues with the majority of these patients. The media has reported the deaths. What has got far less attention is the folks that survived and are now screwed. Without your health you have nothing. Every government in the developed world got together to create this big conspiracy. Come on. Enough with the rhetoric. Covid has become far too political. Vote for who you want, but how can so many be ignoring scientific fact. This virus kills people or leaves them in very bad shape. Vaccination pretty much stops all of that. Welcome back American snowmobilers. Sorry you still need a covid test, but a small price to pay to get to come play in the north.

  10. Today I went into the famous and very large Baxter State Park, home to Mt. Katahdin and the latter the end of the Appallacian hiking trail. Many decades ago, Gov. Baxter thought this land was too magnificent to be left in the hands of individuals and logging companies. After the legislature failed to agree to have the state buy it, the Guv bought it with his own money and left a large endowment to keep it going. It employs over 60 people to keep it going, and this isn't a place you can just drive home from at night so most workers liver here. This did help get the Guv out of hot water for ordering all state flags to fly at half mast on the passing of his beloved dog. Strangely, no dogs are allowed in the park The park consists of countless small ponds, most between 1/10 to 1 mile long as well as hundreds of miles of hiking trails to mountains, waterfall,s remote campsites and ponds. Today I drove the loop road which is really a north/south road, with a handful of short dead end roads going into a few ponds with old and famous sporting camps, now taken over by the park. I exited the north end gate whcih is by Mattagammon Wilderness Store, for those that came to Maine to ride this past winter. Total trip through the park was about 60 miles of very smooth dirt roads, but somewhat twisty with many blind corners and very narrow, and most of the way two large pick up trucks could not pass without one pulling way over and stopping while the other inched by. Speed limit is 20, and I seldom got over 15. There are many small ponds and stunningly beautiful streams next to the road. I did some short hikes into waterfalls and ponds. The camera doesn't catch the stunning beauty. This is also home to a very large moose population although I did not see any today. I also saw very few vehicles, maybe 1 or 2 every 15 minutes the first half of the trip, and a total of 3 vehicles the second half. So quiet for the July 4th weekend, and knowing Maine's Coast is traffic jams and thousands of tourist fighting for a parking spot in touristy areas and many unable to get into the crowded restaurants.

  11. Back in Millinocket for a week Today's hike into Ripogenus Gorge, paddling under the shadows of Mt. Katahdin, and checking out the Chesuncook Boom House. I guess the boom house was where they corralled the logs coming down the lake way back when they had logging/river drives, and the loggers stayed at this house. It is now a museum. I looked for Steven's picture hanging on the walls.

  15. the crazies on the very far left and extreme right ...their voices and actions are drowning out any possible chance of moving forward in any normal manner, and it most certainly is getting worse, press plays to big a part...no longer reports the news... either totally ignores it ....or only reports their side.....this kind of protest where you destroy billions of dollars of public and private property this past year....all these people belong in prison ....and they are getting a free pass....no chance it will get better until some real consequence starts to happen...it is not going to be peaceful stopping this...nor should it be, it just has to end...I can actually see this as a reason to keep the border closed...why should anyone accommodate this garbage....the first job of the government....any government...is to keep the citizens safe...this looks like some scene from the middle east 30 years ago....absolute garbage!!
