  1. Good morning, just woke from summer hibernation. Maybe this will help someone. We crossed the border by boat in September, this is what we found, no rumors here🙂. We found a provider in michigan that offered the proper test, and did it "in house", so results were in about an hour. They didn't have to send it to a lab which can take a day or two. It cost $155. Back home, I've called around and found a place here in columbus ohio that is set up the same way. It will cost $200. Haven't used them yet, do I guess that's a rumor. Back to September, we loaded the Arrivecan app, filled in our info, nexus #, vaccine info, type of and dates, travel plans, quarantine plans, if required. We heard you needed a street address, so we used the address of the marina where we were docked. We were approved within minutes and given a number. Both sandy and I were both covered by same #. When we crossed into canada, we called in the same # we've always used for marine entry, gave them the #, answered the normal we questions and were given our boat #, same as always. If we were crossing by car, as I understand it, you a give the border people your arrivecan app #, which gives them access to all the info they need. It really didn't seem as complicated as it sounds. We were in ontario for about 2 weeks, ate most of our meals out, did what what we would normally do on vacation. We wore masks indoor in public places, everyone was. At restaurant you went to get seated, if you wanted to eat indoors, they asked for your vac records and ID. I carried a copy of our cards in my wallet. You got to your table and removed your mask. You got up from your table, you put your mask back on. Didn't seem like a big deal. Seemed like it worked pretty well. We were guests in their country, we didn't have to be there. Think snow

    Latest COVID border deal

Hey Mike, she went in because she was going to visit her brother who is very is ill and she just wanted to be sure she wasn't carrying the covid. I have been in a couple times cause some of my buddies (whom I had contact with) had come down with covid. We both are on medicare and have bluecross supplement. Maybe our insurance is better than some? Or maybe because we're from MA?

  4. With the covid surge going on right now in the northeast, Quebec isn't about to roll out the red carpet for us.

  5. Did she have the test due to symptoms or an exposure? Then the test is paid for by insurance or the gov't. I have yet to find free testing for travel in my area. Northbound, great info, thanks for posting. And as many of you may have heard, a new variant has been found in South Africa that is alarming researchers. It appears to spread faster and make people sicker. It will be 3 to 4 weeks before they have all the necessary facts on this but they are very concerned about it and don't know yet if an all new vaccine will be needed. We all know how fast the Delta variant made its way across the globe. Sure makes it tough to make plans with so many variables.

  6. The " ID NOW" test at Walgreens is the one that is free and they say 24 hour or less results. It is a NAAT test that is good to get across the border. Need appt for the test, and timing will be the hard part unless it really does come thru in 24 hours or less.

Where we are tested (Greenfield Community College) the test is free and usually have the results in 24-48hrs. My wife was just tested, had the results the next day.

  8. Quebec seems to be doing pretty good with a seven day average of cases matching Maine's seven day average, despite Quebec having several times the population. Mass. with almost the same population as Quebec, has about four times the case average over the past several days.

  9. The Fedex guy that picks up where I work has a girlfriend across the border. He goes up every weekend, he says it’s not bad jumping through the hoops, the local Walgreens does testing for free, just have to get an appointment first. The last hoop of having a quarantine plan in place in case of a positive random test makes life a little difficult as well. Can I just say that my plan is to drive home if I test positive? I know one thing is sure, I will definitely try it before the snow melts this year. I am a little gun shy of buying my pass at the early bird discount not knowing how often I will use it.

    Latest COVID border deal

The US is putting pressure on our government to drop the PCR test for Americans entering Canada and just go with proof of double vaccinated. That would be good in my opinion. Fully vaccinated Americans could come up here and be infected by a Canadian, it is not like it is Covid free up here.

  14. Look, I dont care how you raise your little snot nose, snowflake kid but here is the deal in Parent, Qc Hello all fellow snow thrashers !! Hope everyone is healthy and enjoying the holidays. I have some little tid bits of info for everyone on the booming metropolis of Parent. The O'mbre du Vent wont be open to snowmobilers this winter as Hydro Quebec is doing some project up near there and have gobbled up all the cabins and house. Word is they are closing in on the Central too. Also, the cellular service around there wont be up and functional this winter. I guess the lines and towers are up but not all connected yet so probably for sure next year. I have the exact sentiments as Je me souviens about what to do or not do regarding this season. With the December 9th date closing in I guess I have to make some decisions soon. The thought of not riding in Qc again this winter chills me to the bone. Thinking of doing another crazy solo northern run between Christmas/New years but have to get a hold of my indigenous buddies and see what the scoop is. Being around them and their reservations adds another level of complexity to all this bullshit. If I dont have their support to fall back on it's probably not wise for me to be up there alone. My best buddy and I often reflect back to March 18th 2020 when we got "kicked out" of Canada that "who woulda thunk" that almost two FU&%ING years later we would be dealing with all this. BTW, his 78 yr old father here in Dansville, NY was put on a ventilator two days ago (this will be day 3) Please pray for him !!!
