  1. The internet was down again yesterday. Bill and I did 215 or so in the snow and wind. Here are some pics from yesterday:
  2. We can't ignore the Holiday Inn here in Jonquiere. The trails can't be beat, the service and atmosphere are the tops, and where else can you share a beer and conversation with Saguenay Bill and even the infamous Rob, LOL
  3. Here are some pics from today. It was beautiful, clear and cold.
  4. I love my Renegade XP. The seating position is even better than the original REV, especially for tall riders. The handling is also even better, it really rails when setup properly. The one thing I'm not crazy about is the ride on slower stutter bumps like we get here at home in VT, it can be a bit harsh. Some guys think it is the seat, which doesn't have a lot of padding. And the factory suspension setup was poor. It took a bit of fiddling to get it sorted out. But all in all I think it is a great improvement on an already terrific chassis. No other problems so far.
  5. that's just a nasty rumor

  7. 4 days is ideal, (as long as the weather cooperates), I've done it in as little as 3 days.. Start at Riviere du Loup, stay at Matane, Perce, Point-a-la-croix, and back to R-d-L.
  8. Well tomorrow I head home. I had a great week, lots of great rides, and lots of good times with friends. I put on over 1800 miles this past week. I would like to mention that I believe our sport could not have a better or more qualified ambassador than Saguenay Bill. He unselfishly gives much of himself and his time to assist and provide guidance to others. I sometimes watch in amazement as Bill cheerfully fields questions and problems, large and small, that must seem at times to be never-ending. Thanks Bill for all you do!
  9. Here are a few more pics from today.
  10. I know some guys say the ele shield isn't needed, but I found it fogged up on me the second day up here while breaking trail at a mild 25F. I guess it depends on your own setup and all but for me the ele shield is a necessity. And that's not even counting days with freezing rain or those days with 100% humidity.. I'd say get the heated shield. Thanks for the offer of picking up a valve, but I'm headed home tomorrow and have mine sitting right where I stupidly left them (on the table).
  11. We didn't go the shortest way.. On the return trip we took Bra St Louis and made an extra loop to St Charles to add some miles. Shortest way it is under 300 miles to go to Sacre Coeur and back from the HI. We would have liked to have made a loop on south side and the ferry, but we were afraid of the section of 383 between Petit-Saguenay and TQ3 being open. It was poorly maintained Last year. Not sure of the exact distance between Sacre Coeur and Forrestville, but it's not very far, maybe 50 miles or so? Bill would know. Also if you are going to Forrestville from Saguenay it is shorter to take the trail to les Escoumins and then north on TQ3.
  12. Today Hden, Mikerider, Zeusand and myself rode to Sacre Coeur for lunch, 323 miles. Here are some pictures from today:
  13. No direct trail access from the Saguenene. Isn't that most important?
  14. More pictures from today. The trails were super, almost everything just groomed. I could have taken a million pics of perfect trails.
  15. Forgot to say that the last picture is Stan trying my Renegade out for size. Looks like we may have another convert soon
  16. I remember the extra valve. I will be sure to have both with me on next trip. Thanks!
  17. Here are some more pics from today's ride :) Most trails were fresh groomed, it was especially nice in the morning.
  18. No, that is Mike, also known as Mubs on the forum holding the glass on the right, and another Mike, Mikerider on the left. I have a confession to make, I've gone back to my old TXi helmet for the last two days. Mainly because the BV2s was too cold with the center valve removed, and stupidly I left the removed valve at home, so I had no other choice that to use the old helmet for now. And I did have to use the ele shield on both helmets to keep from fogging. On the XP front, I tried many different settings and finally decided that the problem (for me) is that the rear springs are too light, (or the center spring is too hard?). I'm now running the rear springs on the highest setting (5) with the coupler blocks on low (1), and it is better for me. But after just taking "internet" advice on the helmet that turned out to be wrong, I can understand people wanting to try it for themselves and deciding. Just a suggestion. And also I now agree about the seat...it feels as hard as a park bench at times. They need to do something there. JMO.
  19. Here are the best pics for today. This is the famous Gretta, well known to patrons of the Holiday Inn during the winter. The drink she is so fond of is known as Caribou, and is offered to all visitors, two and four legged alike. :D
  20. I agree on needing a new jacket.. just got to get used to the new helmet and sled before I try anything else new :D Here are some pics from today:
  21. But we did find one water hazard on trail 93. We had to turn around here, but were able to find a way around it without getting wet. :D :D
  22. Did 205 miles today.. Lots of new snow, most places have received anywhere from 6 to 16 inches of new snow since the rain, and up at the chappelle they have like 2 feet new. Here is a pic from today:
  23. When some guys are complaining about the seat I think they are really not pleased with the ride. At home in Vermont Jane and I would switch between my new Renegade and the 05. The 05 clearly had a better ride. My dealer said to try the rear springs on #3 and coupler blocks on full (#4) rather than all settings at full light, and that seemed to help.
  24. Bill, what mods did you do to your BV2s? Was is the removal of the little rubber valve at the front of mask? I did that and it was rather cold on my mouth yesterday at -15C, I'm not sure how well that will do at -30.
