  1. Trails were very good today, with many trails just groomed. I can't see why anyone would cancel their trip now.
  2. Hi Bill, I had decent riding yesterday. I expect riding will be very good starting today. Will post tonight. :)
  3. I'm trying to get used to it. I did pick up an ele shield just in case, but I didn't use it today. I'll add that the new Renegade stays right on top on the water LOL, it swims well haha. Seriously, there were only a few water hazards, and they were mostly on 83 near Chicoutimi. They should freeze up tonight. Riding was surprisingly good. Looking at the trails coming up, I'd say forget anything south of the River for now. This is the place to be!
  4. What are the extensions in the files you are trying to upload? (the letters after the dot at end? like filename.xxx)
  5. C'est un endroit pour partager l'information de GPS. :)
  6. Several members have requested a place to collect GPS info.. I think we will try this pinned topic first and see how much interest there is. If it is active we could expand it to a sub-forum.
  7. I've found it now on p 22 as you said. that is super!
  8. That's great! C'est grand! Is motoneige au quebec different from the FCMQ magazine Motoneige Québec? I get that one and didn't see it in there?
  9. when you come into town, and turn right into table a roland, there will be a track straight ahead at that point. Take that trail (not groomed, and just a path really). Follow it across a meadow, and you pick up a road going uphill to the left. Go up that road and the lookout is on left. The road goes further to a higher lookout closer to the top of the "table", (that's where table a roland gets its name), but it is not always broke out and can be an adventure. All of this is less than a mile from the village.
  10. Great pics! I've never been able to ride out to the rock, always wanted to. Here's my favorite pic of the rock, taken from the dock at sunrise: This is from the road that goes up to the lookout: and this is from the dock looking back at the village and lookout:
  11. I had heard they were harboring a huge stash of birdseed.
  12. call me dumb, but I somehow had the wrong idea about this post from the title
  13. Thanks for the kind words, they are much appreciated! Looking forward to having a with you at the Holiday
  14. not much of anything except fog all day, high was 35, down to 32 now. Supposed to get an inch or two snow tonight. Look at webcam http://www.robertlyonsphotography.com/webcam/
  15. Welcome Ryan! I've used Collett communicators for many years, and one thing I've noticed is that they are always improving their product. And every improvement makes them even better than before. For safety, and convenience, there is no equal. I highly recommend Collett Communicators. And since I bought a BV2s helmet, I'll be testing that setup this winter and give my report here.

    Big Snow!!

we actually got 8 or 9 inches. It blew around a lot. I had to plow the drive and naturally the battery in the plow truck was flat. Nothing like being prepared eh? :D Only 10 degrees here this morning.
  17. Bernard has a good weather source. I saw this developing last night also. Uo to 15 to 30 centimetres of snow are forecast in some regions on friday. A deep low pressure system will affect mostly central and eastern parts of the province today and Friday. The low pressure system will move from Maine to Témiscouata tonight then to Sept-Îles on Friday. The regions west of the low pressure system track will receive significant snowfalls. The regions located on this track will receive at least 50 mm of rain.

I think that track will be great, the only possible downside being increased slider wear on hard/icy trails. Run it loose.

    New Ski's

When switching/comparing skis I'd always leave all settings the same to keep it fair. Beyond that i'd say that the Firecat chassis always turned better with more ski pressure, but there were limits even there, esp with skis like C&As and Powder Pros (which are so aggressive that they didn't need the additional loading). On the REV I tried cranking up to pressure trying to get my Renegade to turn while using the Precisions, but it didn't help much, just made it dart/hunt that much worse. Going to the Pilots, I'd see an immediate improvement in handling in all conditions, even with the front pressure set full light. I'm very pleased with the pilots. But even with that said, the Powder Pros are much, much better in deep snow than any other ski on the market. The Renegade with the 16" track does not want to turn in powder, that is a fact of life. With the Powder Pros it floats and turns much better. But for the rest of the time on the trails, the pilots are much nicer. They make the 'Gade handle like a 121" track. Light ski effort, easy 300+mi days. I wouldn't want to do 300 miles on PPs on a REV on hard groomed trails, that's for sure!

Simmons are very similar to Ski-Doo Precision skis.. SO similar in fact, that Simmons won a lawsuit against Ski-doo over copying the design. I never understood how some guys would rave about Simmons performance in deep snow when the Precisions were so poor under those conditions. The Pilot skis are much better than Precisions in deep snow, and don't get locked into the grooves of other precisions. I would think Simmons would also track the same way. As far as performing in the deep, nothing beats SLP Powder Pros in deep snow. But the PP's are an absolute bear to steer on a REV on hardpack groomed trails. I did several ski tests on hcs, and had a lot of skis on hand to switch around and compare. I'll stand by my statement that I believe Pilots provide the best all-around performance (compromise) on the REV chassis.
  21. Yes, I burned down at 5300mi, and then went through the next season and did a precautionary rebuild at 20,300mi. Dealer said bearings were dry as a bone and wouldn't have went much further, but still that's pretty good. I had that happen last winter, but it never fixed. Had to have an injector replaced. Dealer said it was the first one he ever had to replace. Other thoughts here: I replaced both tunnel shocks (they were toast) and changed most bearings at same time as a precaution. Had everything carefully went over by my dealer (Garneau) in case there was something I missed. I'll add that I've owned all brands over the years but never have put so many miles on with so few problems as I have with ski-doo. On real high mile sleds the suspensions worry me as much as the drive train. Make sure that all steering and suspension components are intact. Other than that just ride it, they last a lot longer than most people think (if you keep them on snow).

    New Ski's

I was talking about the standard pilot 5.7". I've never tried the 6.9's.
