  1. If theres fresh snow that 800r will be out of fuel half way there! My buddies gade 800r was a pig on fuel lucky if he got 100 miles on hard pack, although he's hard on the flipper. My Mach has gone 144, the 600sdi ran out at 142, an apex at 130.
  2. Hell, your probably 5 hours closer then me, and I may even make an appearance!
  3. You can also stay in Casey, we stayed there a few years back when Kanawata was booked. A young couple run it and he speaks great english. We stopped for fuel there last year and they have put an additiion on the place. And I beleive there's a plowed road there now so they don't have to take ths sled for supplies. Great couple and we had 2 great meals. It was funny they said there's only 3-4 people that stay in Casey in the winter. There's a phone booth outside, we where the only ones staying there and I went out to use the phone about 8pm and someone was using it!
  4. If they set up radar it's usually close to towns. I have seen radar set up in La Tuque behind the airport.
  5. One mirror is a requirement, I've been going to Quebec for 7 years now and have gone through dozens of checkpoints and not even once been asked about a mirror. 45mph speedlimit? Maybe in the corners,LOL
  6. HaHa, I don't think the 79' Jag would make a 1200 mile loop, besides by day 2 we'd be on the opposite side of the peninsula from him by then LOL! My daughter can't wait to fire up the Jag knowing how much my neighbor loves it! Merry X-Mas to you too
  7. Anyone know if there are any sled rentals in Riviere Du Loup? I have a good friend I grew up with, used to borrow one of my old sleds and has rented in Quebec once before. He wants to do the gaspe with us in March. If anyone has any ideas let me know.
  8. Dam, for $25 I thought the trails would be smoother!
  9. And I thought moose where dangerous to get close to. Next time I see one on the trail I'm gonna have to pop off the helmet put a cracker in my mouth and give it a shot, I'm sure it'll make a great picture!
  10. So who has the pic of you 3 tucked in for the night! LOL! Dam, I thought I had it.
  11. When we have three guys we get 2 rooms and split the cost 3 ways and we each take turns getting our own room for the night.
  12. I would try to get as far from Montreal as possible if you want to see your truck and trailer again. Shawinigin is about 21/2 hours North East from the US border with a couple secure spots to leave your truck. Or maybe the St. Zenon area.
  13. Am I missing something here, all that fuel for a 260 mile loop? I thought you guy's where going to the North Pole LOL!
  14. Don't go near Sherbrooke, unless you want to see nothing but stop signs and road crossings. We croosed at Derby once and made that mistake. Instead stay along the us border heading East, much nicer.
  15. Now I'm jealous, I think I need to pick up the new sled a little earlier. I think it's almost time! Phil you in Nice sled Linda, enjoy!
  16. HaHa, thats why I'm going with the 1200! Maybe your on to something, maybe lack of steering and suspension is the way to go!
  17. The only issue I see is booking everything in advance. The weather in the Gaspe is so unpredictable, also break downs. When we go we usually call ahead that morning or the night before and have never had a problem. I know Feb. is the busiest month. We always go at the end of March. Last March we did RDL to Cross Point, Murdochville, Riviere Madeline, Matane, RDL. I,ve done the Gaspe 4 times now and have never booked more than a day in advance. Good luck
  18. I think your doing it wrong, I think your suppose to have only your chin touch the rock, that would add a little excitement! looks like a 1200 either a Renagade X or a GSX SE, a lotta money!
  19. A good spot to start from when doing the Gaspe is Riviere Du loup. Leave your trucks at the Universal, they have a locked corral for them. It's about 1100 miles round trip from there.
  20. Whatever! After a couple Bloody marys Who cares what ya ride
  21. Unfortunatly both Yami's,an apex and a nytro where tinkered with by two guys that know how to set up a sled and spent more time playing with the suspension then riding them including changing the skis. The end result was selling them and there back on Doo. I'm not starting a bashing thread just stateing from experiance.
