too slow

Same here but only on Sunday mornings. Lots of time I start in Sandisfield and take the corridor rt 95 to OMSF and poke my way into Windsor. Haven't been to Beartown in years.

Same here. Best trips have always been in March. Could remember only once riding Mt.Valin around turkey day and had a good time.

Back in the late 80's when a lot of guys started buying into the mod motor thing for trails up there that old railroad bed became quickly known as piston city seeing a number of blown up sleds over the years. Too bad as time went on these guys never got the message especially around Mont Tremblant their loud sleds were not appreciated. Last time i rode that section was in 04....sure be nice to have something back again.

Did note in one of the pics the polaris had plates on it. Could not see anything for the cat. Amazing the rider on the cat didn't get seriously injured....the sled is destroyed. Still...not the brightest thing leaving that drag where they did. Scary stuff.

Nothing really new about what items you can bring into the states from canada. I could remember over 25 years ago they confiscated certain vegetable and food items from us at the border after telling them what we were bringing back. I guess they have inspections before getting approval upon entering on this stuff. The main thing is not to deny it.

Can't remember exactly but i think it was in late jan or early feb of 84 we tried to go from St Michel des Saints to the Rouge Matawin Cafeteria after a huge storm dumped through the region. The snow banks on the main road from Saint Michel to the park entrance alone were well over 12' high. It turned out to be a weird week....a couple days later it rained heavy...and the temps hit nearly 70 degrees for the next 3-4 days...turned all the snow/ice to mud. We were basically stranded where we were staying at the pines. Nothing to do but a bunch of water skipping on lac taureau till we killed our sleds from too much power washing.

I'd also have Mr. Cherry trade places with Harry Reid in a heartbeat.

On another note, it would be a shame to lose the cafeteria...its been one of my favorite stop's and get a snack or lunch for the past 30 years. Imo, send them to La Macaza.

I doubt these lost souls even know what an economy is. Btw..iceman that was some funny chit.

Sort of feel sorry for them. Imo.. these people need some professional help. :wacko: They shouldn't be on the loose without adult supervision.

Many times we use to start in St. Jovite and make our way to Mt Valins. Takes about 2 1/2 days at the least with 3-4 of us. Not sure what you have in mind for a return route, but its a good weeks ride at any rate going the most direct route. Sometimes the south side of Lac St. Jean has poor snow conditions at that time of year which may force you to take the longer nw route around.

Feel sorry for the guys that ride in on sleds....they will be forced to spend less time at the ballet.

Who cares...the place is perfect ..its what vacation trips are for.

Gee... i never looked at it that way. Back in the days of mostly fan cooled or free air sleds with 7 gal fuel tanks and not much else we use to think the definition of a badass sledder was one that could ride from places like St.Zenon to Devils Mt and back by the next day, or head from St Zenon to La Tuque and be back for supper. That was our right of passage. Now its like taking the family car and all its comforts on a trip.
