  1. I think the 6" is enough on plain tracks, but for studded tracks I like more carbide. If you purchased an upgrade in skis for added cornering ability why not go all the way, and put some 8's on it. I have pilot skis on my sled, with 144 studs on the track, last year I had 8 inches of carbide and really got some bite in the corners, the middle gets used much more than the outside, if at all as mentioned befor hand. This year I did an upgrade myself. I picked up some used c&a skis. Like I said before, why go halfway... I am going to put 10's on the old girl. Cheers
  2. Can't do it this week-end. I have tickets to see the HABS vs the Leafs @ the bell, Don Cherry will be in the building, can't miss the grapes. But next week-end I am heading no matter what, solo or not. If someone wants to plan a ride give me a shout!
  3. I like the saddlebagging sub-forum idea. But either way I scower the site every night for fresh updates, but for the most part the pics. Can't wait to get out there and start posting some fresh pics myself. More green indicators on the fmcq site today then there was mid January last year, let's hope it keeps up this way. Here's a pic from last year...just couldn't help myself
  4. Andyman, how does one go about aquiring a pass for the ZEC? Thanks, George
  5. Seriously, does anyone want to meet up and head to the HI on the 7th, Friday morning, and head back home on Sunday the 9th, December that is. I am chomping at the bit to see some groomed snow, but can't afford the fuel costs single handedly. I have room on the trailer for one more, heading north on I-87, leaving from the last american exit, which coincidentally is the name of a great tragically hip song. Let me know if you are interested.
  6. Maybe I'm not reading it right, but are you saying no handsignals for oncoming traffic indicating number of sleds behind you?
  7. Longriderss, thanks for update. I was hoping by sunday night there would be news and pics. Keep the pics coming!
  8. Hey Bill; Are you stationed at your chicoutimi outpost for the season? Let us know what it looks like up there as soon as you can, thanks. George.
  9. Is this just for residents of Quebec? Or can anyone be covered by the airmedic so long as they are club memebers.
  10. Head up I 87, on the last exit before the Canadian border get off and turn right, go 7 miles. You will be heading to Rouses Point. Call a minimun of 10 minutes before, so I can get my stuff ready, and the trailer hooked up. 518 569 6375. George.
  11. That preparatory lecture is exactly 1/2 of what I love about this site. The great stories, and jokes, coupled with the amazing pictures make this the first thing I do when I get home from work. On a real bad day I go back to the post that contains all the pics of Qc, and suddenly I feel much better. The only thing I would add to the prep, is: go stand in front of the mirror and take a look at yourself smiling from ear to ear. This prepares the muscles in your face that you will be using while cruising the greatest trails in the world. :D
  12. Hey Rob; What's the North East Kingdom looking like? Snow or Rain?
  14. Hey Switchback; Thanks for the great pics, I was hoping someone made it out this week-end to give us, une bonne photo de les piste des alentours, pour me donner une idee du montant de neige recu recament dans le coin. If I didn't have to drive so far for a limited amount of riding I would be up there too. I think I actually saw your van and trailer on the roads last year, maybe not though. Anyway, keep us updated and hopefully soon my riding partners will be ready to trailer up to "les bras de L'enfer . I made it through L'Etape last year coming down from Vallin. I can't wait till there's enough snow to head up from St-Raymond to Vallin. Maybe I will have to talk my buddies into a side trip this year to check out le Massif. This is a pic of the hotel we stayed at in St-Raymond, it was the Sunday morning after une bonne nuit en ville, as so to speak. Glad we only had just over 100 miles to complete our 1200 mile 4 day adventure, my stomach would have never made it for the three hundred plus mile treck the day before. The second pic is from near L'Etape, there's a shooting range around the corner.
  15. Can you tell me if you were able to open the file attached? I was able, thanks for the pics, if I wasn't scheduled to move my friend I would be riding Fri morning.
