Saturday was our last day riding there. We rode down the 595 30 km from the 5 towards LaCache. It was getting choppy on Saturday and l see it still hasn’t been groomed since.

Have you guys ever went to the lookout on Mont Joesph. About 10 km north of the Carleton clubhouse on the orange trail. Over looks Carleton Seur Mer. As good or better than the Mont Saint Pierre lookout.http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2022_03/A9ECE4BB-337C-4FCB-A052-001ABF46C3E8.thumb.jpeg.b05ef833251ceaa45d374f9edaa74337.jpeghttp://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2022_03/4964600C-8153-427C-BCFD-AE6718650D95.thumb.jpeg.540b47ad911d8db1c1fb48eb3d37288a.jpeg

The view from there is fantastic. Both summer and winter. Jim and I went up there in the summer more than ten years ago and the a few years ago when we did our annual snowmobile trip .Jim posted that trip in the Gaspe section.

     Thanks for posting.

    Hello everyone!

mrs. Ice is reporting from her couch in the living room. That’s it, that’s where I’ll be for the next six weeks for sure.

Yesterday afternoon, after a cross country skiing adventure with my students, we were back at school and as I was coming down the stairs in the bus, I slid and miss a step. I was being very careful because I know how slippery it could be with these ski boots and the snow on the steps.
It seems like it was my turn to slow down for a while.
I got my X Rays results today, fracture of the ankle, which gives me 6 weeks in a cast prohibited to walk on it. It’s going to be sooooo longgggggggg!!!!

Then, I’ll wear a boot for 4 weeks.

So now I’m hoping that it will be a long winter, long season so maybe I’ll be lucky to get another  ride or 2 when this is done. Fingers crossed.

I’ve got a new ride for now! Got to get lover to put snow trackers on this one! 😂

At least I’m grateful that I got to do Gaspé and Côte  Nord this year before all of this. 🙏

Wishing you a quick and uneventful recovery.

So tonight we’ll shake things up a bit, you’ll read about our today’s adventure through Mrs.Ice’s eyes. Hope you like it. 😁

After hearing Mr.Iceman’s melodies all night long, we opted for a late departure since we’re only riding to the mummies and the surroundings to be back at Quality Inn for a second night. 10:30 it was.

Started on 5 to 591. At the beginning, near the hotel, I have to admit that we’re missing some snow. However, only 10 minutes up the mountain and it’s  much better. Snow is somewhat loose, so a little shaky but for sure rideable, I just need to adjust my driving.

I don’t know about when you’re riding, but I love to look around at the nature, see the fresh snow in the pine trees and sitting on all the branches. Oh, how I was spoiled in today’s sightseeing so early in the season.

I kept stopping to take pictures for me, for you, so you see it for yourself, but a picture never truly represents what your eyes can see on the spot. Anyway. I guess I was stopping too much... someone’s patience was challenged, hahaha. 😅

Trails were really great all the way to La Redemption. Only saw a few sleds, you know when you can count them, but lose the count because they’re too far apart... gotta love to have the trails to yourself. 👌

I realize that I dislike to be tilted on one side due to an incline on the terrain, we were in the fields at that point, good to ride on, but lack of snow to ride straight on flat. Lover said it was good practice for me. I guess. But I also need to tell you that I do not enjoy big downhills, but I did encounter a few on Cote Nord last week and I’ m sure will see more this trip. I’m getting used to them slowly, gaining confidence each time.

I get good advice. I know i’m In great hands. 591 to 587 now.

Got to see the beginning of the mummies’ formation, how nice it was to be in winter’s wonderland. My Hands froze up there because I took too many pictures, Oups. It was worth it though, so beautiful. I can only imagine the look in February. Wow.

Then, we saw a sign marked canyon about one km off the main trail, 587. Up we went, It was impressive as well. Sketchy trails for us to get there,  but we managed. Lover said there are tracks, we can go.

Afterward, we came to a point where I was asked if I wanted to go back the same way as this morning or this other trail, little longer he said. Apparently was 30 minutes, 40 some km more. I said you pick. Junction of 591 and a local orange trail. It goes towards St Paul.

So off we go on that new trail. Some narrow and twisty parts, which I don’t mind because it warms me up. Then here it it, some sort a wide trail on a dirt road. Perfect to go a little faster, just a little. 😉 It brought is all the way back to trail 5, we completed our loop from the east.

We made It to home base near 4:30. It was a good 240 km.

Overall, it was a lovely day, not as nice as it was in Escoumins last week, but for January 2nd, it has advanced pretty well, can’t complaint.

Forgot a thing or two that I will add here.

We do have radios to talk to each other, lover warns me for things to look out for and sleds coming. However, if we’re too far apart I’m on my own. So I’m working hard for my turns to be sharp and tight  on that right. I try to be more on my right than him. 😜 not easy.

Last, we came back in the dark, it has been a long time since I rode in the dark. I was flashed by another sled once no clue why, until lover told me I had big lights on. 😬

    Hello Mrs Ice,

I love your story telling, nice to read it from a female rider’s point of view.👍I appreciate it. There is a different feel to it.  Great job! I sit behind Jim (GTRider) , so I cannot describe how it feels to steer/drive the machine with different kind of trails. I do know how it feels when Jim hits a bump😁However , I get the best seat in the house with all the sight seeing that I do.😁

    Enjoy yourselves and be safe.

  4. Hello Jack and Sandi,

Thank you for the great story telling. Hopefully Jim and I will be there, too. On a side note, when you get back home, if you want to bring with you an OTC (over the counter) pain meds, there is Advil Dual Action that you can buy. It is a combination of  acetaminophen (Tylenol) and Ibuprofen ( NSAID). These two pain meds work in different pathways so it is very effective for relieving pain. Plus it is also very effective for a toothache if you ever have one.🙂

Looking forward to your next report!

nothing left in another 3 years

usa will be a province of China

Not a province, it will be:

    United States of China

That is their goal. ( Just my opinion)

It is appalling and a direct insult to all the legal immigrants. Honest to God I swear people are deaf and dumb to believe a 40 year politician.

I emigrated to the USA when I was 20 yrs old and it took a long time ( over the course of 25 years ) for the rest of my immediate family to get here . We all went through the legal process . You are absolutely right. Not only is it an insult but a slap on my face. Not to mention to those who have been living here illegally (working and paying taxes)and have applied  to obtain a legal status and still waiting to get one.

  7. Hi Mike,

Beautiful area, indeed! Jim and I visited Baxter state park  a very long time ago. I will never forget that trip. A  baby moose walked right up in front of the car,. It may have been a baby moose but it was huge.

Like you, we also drove around those roads. And yes, the camera does not do it justice.

Thank you for reminding me of how beautiful that place is.

Thanks you for the wishes PLAYHARD!

I have to put in context that we were riding a pretty much aftermarket's modified beast, fine tune over many years so it was not realistic to hope to have a new toy better just out of the box. One of the first Kristine's comment was the suspension feels like the Boivin when it was packed full of snow! 😂 I was already knowing we would lose with any stock touring sled on this point, i had choose the one I think would be the best

There are plus and minus but I would tell from the Queen's trone, other than the ride being less smooth when the trail is rough, the position is nice for her but she is seated lower compared to me so the front view is not as good but it's ok. The non-adjustable backrest had a weird angle way too straight and the top was trying to skeeze under her scapula so I already modify it by pushing the lower part a big inch front giving a more natural angle which she is very pleased now. The footrest give her a better grip but are colder than the yammy one. A new to her feature she now love is the heated seat! just too bad it have just one setting: broil! even Kristine is not able to keep it on even at -20C. We highly consider bringing bacon and eggs and use it to cook for our outdoor lunches! 🤣

The last thaw have been hard on the south trails here especially in the wood sections that are brown as well as yours. The weather forecast I saw for the next week are not good at all, we will wait and see but it smell the end for the south trails

As for the sled from my point, also plus and minus. Other than what I already mentioned the 900 ace engine is handsome, enough powerful for our needs and easier on gaz which give us better fuel range. The darting was bad in many trail condition/air shock setting but I just put a set of snowtracker which lighten the steering and enable one hand precise driving live my yammys, very happy with the result. A thing a would think would be behind with a brp is the ice in the tunnel...wrong!  it is even worse to the point it interfere with the track travel and make endless grooling noise in very cold wheather. Those G4 seems to be bad ice makers. The driving position is very different but I wil get used to it. Wind protection is not as good but the heated grips and thumb are very powerfull and the heated seat is a bonus. The cluster is handsome and having the option to play with the air shock on the flag is nice.

I think I have a great base in the hands to customize. It's different DNA with their quality and flaw, I'm pretty sure we will be very happy with it with some improvements

    Hello Alain,

I very well understand Kristine’s feet being cold. I have sat behind three Skidoo GT’s so I know how cold her feet could be. May I recommend electric socks? I have been using electric gloves and socks for 20 years ( thanks to my wonderful hubby). I could not be without those when we are riding.😁😁

Thanks for the pictures and videos. Have a safe ride !

First picture. I recognized right away La Pocatiere, Green  Trail right off TQ5 east heading to RDL. Remembered it well because it was so cold going through the open fields. That odd looking solitary mountain also gave it away.

  10. La Bannik.........  Best bread ever, Fluffy bathrobe (  I wanted to take it home but could not fit it anywhere in the sled😄), Hot fresh made cappuccino ( ask GT Rider how good it was😂), scrumptious dinner , beautiful cabin with hot tub overlooking the lake.  One of the nicest place we ever stayed at. One of my best memories with my wonderful husband!
