  1. People are always telling me where to go even without a forum.😀 Actually I have been sledding a long time and lived in QC all my life and never realized that such a forum existed till a few years ago. It is a valuable resource for info and a widow on what is going on throughout the Provence.
  2. Keeping our fingers crossed here. Was out today and we could sure use a dumping to properly repair the damage done by last Fridays rains.
  3. Look at the weather outlook. There is a prediction of 20-30cm for my area in the Laurentiens on Tuesday the 23. Most snow storms track west to east, so Quebec City area should get a piece of the pie too.

Wednesday 17th. Hebou Blanc has closed the 317 after Kilmer to Lake Macdonald for the time being due to deep water around the shore of Lake Macdonald. All other trails are open but range from only 2 out of 5 to 1 out of 5 on Station La Rose due to lack of snow for the groomer to work with. Diable et Rouge are tight lipped about their trail conditions since the 1 th of January's closure due to the rain announcement, however the railway bed from Weir to St Remi was groomed and looked good on Tuesday.
  5. Yes Grumpy Santa posted about that in Dec. Can understand Lynx being upset about passes being sold from another club in what they perceive as their territory but if what followed is accurate, (sometimes there is more to they story than meets the eye) then IMO that section of Trail should be taken away from them and given to Hebou if they are willing to take it on. They been squabbling of this for two seasons.
  6. Not too likely unfortunately. Most circumstances that prevent using the pass after buying it are beyond the federation's control. One year my brother bought his seasons pass, got home, put the pass on his machine in the garage then fell walking back to the house braking his leg. Lost the pass money and his whole season.
  7. It wasn't a bad choice, simply your timing vs the crap weather we experienced.
  8. You got that right. It was amazing the water we had around here on Fri and if is now hidden and insulted from the cold under the snow.

My wife and I traveled all day in the rain from the Baskatong to Weir to get back home before we got stranded probably about that many years ago. Trails were ok, wet snow but the lakes were more water than slush about 8 in deep on the ice. Keep the speed up and don't tailgate was the only rule. It was funny to meet people on the trails wearing green garbage bags, and sleds traveling down the lakes looking more like a seadoo with a big rooster tail.

It is a great insulator, we deal with slush on our lake often as water level changes a lot. I have to cross it or another lake to get to the trail system. If we keep a well packed trail going it is ok but lose it and it will take a long time to freeze up solid. You are right Bob, I have never seen so much water on the low lying trail sections as what they are saying is there, but having seen all the rain and rushing water Fri, well it has to be hiding somewhere
  11. Well don't know who is copying who's pics but it is bizzare. I also posted these 2 pics on the Laurentien section. They were also on the Hebou Blanc page and were supposedly from the rescue Hebou Blanc did last night of the two sleds reported stuck. I asked on FB this am if they got them out and they said yes.
  12. On the Hibou Blanc trail system.

I think you might find that was a post for last week January 10th. I could not find anything relating to this coming week. last night's rescue. One of two sleds that found the slush on the trail.

Yes one section is extremely tight and hilly for the groomer. They were getting stuck before the wet weather, no base. My Neighbour runs their groomer from Weir down to Pine Hill area. He told me he got so stuck he un hitched the drag and tore the winch off the front of the machine getting out on Wednesday night. He went back and got the drag out on Thursday. I hope they are right in their predictions on FB as parts of that trail goes through a lot of gullys and low lying areas too.
  16. If there is a tracking # then they are sending them expresspost, with or without a signature required. If it sat at your post office for 2 weeks then returned it more than likely needed a signature and you were not there when your Post office attempted delivery. They should have left a call for card in with your regular mail. Don't know about USPS but 2 weeks is the standard time frame to return to sender if a call for item is not picked up.

What a difference 24hrs makes. Yesterday 50f and rain, water everywhere running off the mountains, lower areas full of water, water running into the lakes and pooling on top of the ice. Today looks like a winter wonderland with a good 6-8 of new snow and still coming down. Cold about 5 above 0 f. Lakes, low lying areas and all water crossing could be slush hidden under the new snow. Diable et Rouge club officially closed all trails yesterday till further notice and I imagine Hebou blanc did the same. I imagine the new snow will slow the hardening of what is left of the base and the freezing or draining of pooled water. My lake is full of slush at this time.
  18. Well some areas may fare better than others, I hope so. We had heavy rain over night and 50f temps today. Water was running everywhere. We lost 1/2 of our snow and many bare spots. While it started snowing around 400pm, it will take a fair bit of time to freeze up swampy areas and water running across trails. I doubt groomers will be out for several days, but as next weekend is the open house I imagine they will try hard to get the damage all repaired in time.
  19. Yes one was LTE and the other was on our wireless wifi internet, which pics up the signal from the same LTE tower. I wouldn't think there would be that much of a difference in refresh times.
  20. Thanks but after watching 30 seconds, I hope I can forget that guy!🤡
  21. Just a little update, with the rain and mild weather moving in, Diable et Rouge club is asking everyone to refrain from circulating on their trails to preserve them till they announce otherwise. Hebou blanc packed trails on Tuesday and groomed them on Wednesday. They were reporting lots of snow and no base, so much so they got a drag stuck in a gully between lake Macdonald and the Laurel / station Larose junction. In fact it may still be there. No other official news from them since Wednesday night, but I would expect they will be asking sledders to refrain from circulating till it gets cold again. I expect all water crossings will be full of deep slush by Friday morning.
  22. Well I like your theory, the one with the most charge shows a higher snow count for Fri so I am going with that!👌 Window weather currently says, 40f gray, no rain at the moment and my lake is transforming from white to a sea of slush.
  23. That can be interpreted so many ways.😁👌
  24. Hard to find true weather predictions amongst the different media, but when one source contradicts it's self ya got to wonder. I have noticed in the past how inaccurate the weather network can be on the details for my area. For instance it can be blowing hard enough for trees to be bending and the official wind speed is " winds light" or "calm". I am convinced their anemometer equipment is in the town hall basement or something. Today's weather is another puzzler. Look at the two pics below. Both are screen shots of the montcalm weather updatedat the same time taken at the same time on two different phones and both of us sitting on the same sofa ( hey got to keep all the variables to a minimum). Slightly different temps and different snow fall amounts for Fri.
