  1. Imotoneige says closed. Local hotel owner says open. Tons of trailers heading that way yesterday.
  2. My trip last year - western Newfoundland - conditions look better this year and earlier. Would not book anything until end of January early February to be safe though. Four minutes long, best part is last 2 minutes, sun was out.
  3. 7 am - Christmas Day 2018. Pleasant enough place - food a bit pricey, but Lionel was a good host particularly to out of province guy with little French. Can't miss it on the highway on your drive to St. Michelle des Saints. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2022_12/1190554243_pic01(Medium).thumb.JPG.1603a34ec08bf8c393fdbdcb514552e4.JPG
  4. This is what that section should look like in terms of which drop down box to select and the other numbers. Worked for me twice - insurance rebates arrived before the trail passes:
  5. Happy to help. The parking kind of sucks so find a good spot for your rig and don't plan on moving it. My spouse really enjoyed the massage options they have there. If at some point you want to return, Ontario school March break, which is usually after Quebec March break, is a time when some deals can be had usually by phoning the office direct to book.
  6. Cool boxes at Lac Taureau: https://www.lactaureau.com/en/accommodations/coolbox?fbclid=IwAR1EErtwJmeA38OGstZ03F-2I1DEiF79Uw17hjqk5V0tVapIBV94gHsyhA8
  7. Have a look at this place - nice chalets and activities. https://www.auchaletenboisrond.com/en/ Just an aside - you are aware that the auberge at lac taureau and the condos at lac taureau are booked on two separate web sites? Maybe a condo is available (if you didn't look there) They also have some mini home like buildings just off the main site, but right next to the trails and facilities. https://condoslactaureau.com/home/ Did a quick check - condos available for your time, but it's gonna cost ya.
  8. Phone up for delivery - Mike's Restaurant in town seemed to be a favourite. I brought most of my own food.
  9. Try the Rodeway Inn just north of Amos. Direct access to trails, gas next door, free early breakfast, lots of parking, small swimming pool. There is also news about the trail over the Herricana River being closed by a landowner and might affect access to the two hotels previously mentioned here. BTW thanks to snomaster 2112 for posting about this place when it was just opening - been there twice since, a nice find.
  10. Fox News Contributor Admits to Creating Fake Story About Canadian Woman Being ‘Trampled’ to Death https://ca.movies.yahoo.com/fox-news-contributor-admits-creating-003133239.html
  11. Parking spots for two vehicles can be expensive downtown.
  12. It is still a good deal - at least you have someone to call when you are in a strange unknown place. Once broke down in Edmonton on a holiday weekend - CAA got me towed to a dealership parking lot and set up a hotel reservation. Tow truck driver courteously drove me to the hotel.
  13. Rick Mercer is a famous Canadian comedian and political commentator.....here is his take on the accuracy of week long weather predictions....might save your mental health....
  14. Your suggestions make sense to me.... http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2021_11/stickers.thumb.JPG.5e238687d0a3493a3c192898e63db58c.JPG
  15. Perhaps a separate section? I'm always interested in various sledding areas and certainly a few commercial links come in handy to bookmark for future visits: http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2021_11/1849171987_u.s_info.jpg.dd9c730b211efaa9d2117f2908a33d61.jpg
  16. This site might come in handy for web cams: https://www.windy.com/?2021103118,58.718,-78.658,5 Depending on how it loads, you might have to fool with the selections bottom right to display web cams.
  17. With nothing better to do with no snow, putting this story up from 2017 - northern New Brunswick Bathurst area.... give you some idea of the trails around there....hopefully the link works: https://drive.google.com/file/d/187Cqu6M_LCjZDdEa1bRfjqujq-zLzyC9/view?usp=sharing
  18. Good deals at this place which is in that area - after the Ontario March break https://www.auchaletenboisrond.com/en/
  19. Signfan - just a little off topic here - how can an Air bnb cancel like that? Or why would they do it? I usually stick to motels, hotels, etc. wondering if this is a common occurance with Air Bnb? BTW - Camp Taureau lodging is also on Lac Taureau in that St. Michelle area- you can see it on the interactive map - advertises dog sledding etc. In emails with them, the wifi did not exist in the cabins if this is essential to you. https://www.camp-taureau.com
  20. Before you go, check these pages for inter-provincial procedures, which may or may not be in force when you hit the road. Needed 3 in advance to drive to Newfoundland. Some handy URLs to procure travel documents: Nova Scotia https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/travel/ PEI https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/.../apply-for-a-pei-pass New Brunswick https://www2.gnb.ca/.../promo/travel-registration.html Newfoundland Labrador https://www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19/travel/travel-restrictions/
  21. A few pics from around that area when we stayed at the condos at Lac Taureau......taken in March...but just to get you psyched for your trip! Keeping an eye on Amos for the Xmas / New Year's time frame myself.
  22. Traffic was minimal during the week. Left on a Friday - after that not sure. Grooming was fine. Here is the link to St. Michelle des Saintes Facebook page - you don't have to have a FB account to look at it although that is most convenient. Scroll down from June 2021 to early posts in December 2020. Will give you some indication as to how things were working for last year. https://www.facebook.com/clubmotoneigesmds/
  23. These pictures are around St. Zenon, just south of St. Michelle des Saints, Christmas Day, 2019. North of the Seven Falls area (translated) conditions were good at that time. Follow Facebook site or get on email from Lionel at Le Glacier as he is good with updates. Last year was thin and did not get started until about January as I recall. https://laglaciere.ca/en/ Le Cabanon also has good reports on their website as well as you probably know.
  24. I was going to suggest a 12 volt heated vest or jacket liner, but there are warnings on mine not to use them if you are diabetic. (not sure why) One thing that might work is a heated glove under a jacket - either on a 9 volt battery, some with a rechargeable lithium battery, or off the sled's 12 volt - would the pens fit in the fingers of a glove? With a pair of gloves, a riding buddy could carry a spare set just in case.
  25. If you look at it from the point of view that you would submit to a road side check stop for alcohol levels? Maybe? Protecting other people. It's a new world out there. Congrats on the vaccinations.
