A small day today, good snowstorm settled in today, so we went to explore a Poirevoire that caters to snowmobilers north of here, Luc is a great gut at Poirevoire Itouk, they have fuel for. Guests, and a guide service if you want. A fun 125 miles.
Markus and Dooright landed today, and we will connect with them for a few days of snow fun!

Looks like great esrly conditions. 12" tonight will be great to build a base after the mild weather coming first of the week.

A good run today over near Labrieville. Got to go check out the Quebec Hydro transmission line construction. These boys were working on the project today! amazing to see guys up on the towers working this construction project. A stop at Le Chenail, north of Forestville but nobody was home!😊. Than we intersected with the Pelchat trail later in the day, that had just been groomed and was an awesome way to end the day! 235 on today and a blue bird sky. 12" plus snow is in the forecast for tomorrow!😊

I'm really surprised that the turbo R isn't offered there yet, maybe after things get back to normal, the expedition turbo does have longer legs than the 850, but for climbing and deep snow the 850 really shines when you get use to manhandling it and throwing it around, incredibly versatile sled, a lot of fun
Bob, I have had a 4 stroke expedtion since 2012, had the 1200's, currently own a 2020 gen 4 900 turbo expedition in addition to this 850 Extreme. I truly have been a 4 stroke guy. Watching all my riding partners running the 850's over the past few years, and other owners like you with very favorable comments ,made me wonder, will I be less tired at the end of the day of back country riding on an 850.
So far, it seems very true, its amazing that the 50 lbs plus or minus makes such a difference in these two sleds. You guys and BRP have identified a really fun sled!
More great riding today, 220 miles of perfect BC woods road riding, we road Northwest today. Amazing that the Pipmuacan resrvoir is still ice free in many places!

Pipeman, we dont have those answers, we couldn't agree more , the process debatable ! They did send a courier to Auberge 31.
In our quarantine plan presented at the border we had committed to stay here for this entire trip. But we have wondered too how this would work saddlebagging?
We realize we are in crazy times, we do what is being asked for as best we can to meet the requests.

Some-of the crew landed last night,so we were fairly well staffed today. As we suspected, great back country woods road riding, some off trail breaking , 215 miles on, while breaking trail most of the morning, we used 18 gallons to go 150 miles😃
More fun tomorrow doing similar type riding. The trail 93 today was brutal, very rough, grooming is expected tonight 😊

Checked out the main trails today. 93 was a little rolly today and will get tons of traffic this weekend, note to self, stay away from this section until next week. The 276 was groomed half way to the Bras Louis, A big power line corridor is under construction currently in this area, the Bras louis and 276 are effected. More crew arriving today, overall, it just sends good to be back on the sled! Maine just turned down a small power corridor to bring Quebec power to Boston😜 . They could learn something from these guys! You gotta love Quebec hydro, they know how to move Electricity! Love it!

Sm, there sure is lots of storage on the expedition chassis, seems its always a trade off from one chassis to another on features and benefits,
Bob, I sure hope this 850 expedition is as good as what you have experienced , hope to have a better opinion in a week or so😊

Its been to long!! How can one be deprived of the Monts for an entire season? Well thats the way its been thru all this. Today that changed, the border crossing ....after following " their process " was uneventful, kind of like normal years! The drive up after the border was normal, snow over the highlands, a little snow in the Sag valley, and good early snow in the Monts. The snow conditions in the immediate area of KM 31 are a solid 4/6" hard base capped with 10/14" of powder. Now that doesn't groom out to much but its a great start and for our mostly woods road riding, we will be fine!
A quick 20 miles this afternoon, more over the next week plus!
Think snow, and start planning a trip to Quebec, hoefully the border stays open🤞

Steve, By the pics we have been seeing, it sounds like there is snow enough for them to pan some areas, this photo from Martin at Hotel Pelchat is most likely somewhere down near Escoumin , appears to have decent snow cover even there. We hopefully will find out shortly the extent of the snow cover and panning, if any?

Steve, it would have been great to connnect, we will post some snow pics for
sure😃. We are heading back down on the 12th so will just miss you this year.

Hi all! Its time for the Season to begin, With our first measurable snow here in Maine, its time to think Mt Valin. Yes, we are keeping our fingers 🤞 crossed on the border access, but if everything goes as planned, we will be there later this week!
The fresh snow here in Maine allowed for a quick , couple mile test ride of the 850 Extreme before loading on the trailer later this week. It passed that quick test😊Think Snow and open borders!

Mike, sounds like you got to get a ride in. The best time to ride here is definitely mid week, as you said after Thursday its a mad house!

Train or what?...
What are the choices?...
Playhard, I am even confused, 😀😀, LOL,
My response to SM was that the location originally pictured was the Petite Manicougan Dam that also has the Cartier railway tracks and at times the Iron ore train that uses the dam to cross the river as well, as it hauls Iron ore from Fermont to Port Cartier.
Sorry for the confusion.

Trail between Godbout and Port Cartier.....the rail line has me a bit uncertain I am right.
SM , you are in the right area, this was a fcmq trail, years ago, albeit not a groomed trail, and ran from Port Cartier to Fermont along the Cartier Railway service road. The ore train, which is still active, runs over the dam where the picture was taken at the Petite Manicougan dam.
Ahhh...Return to Mont Valin

The final day,...... we kept it for our long elusive ride around the Pipmuacan reservoir. This ride had been studied for years, today the conditions where right, the planning was right, so we went for it, a 325 mile ride today, many miles of deep powder. A great wrap to our " Mt. Valin Early Ride"
I suspect Marks Vt and Doorightwill be back next year to join in on the fun!
Two very capable riders, nice to find birds of a feather!
Here's.to a good Quebec Rider Season
