  1. Mike we rode up today, hit the 545 trail out of armstrong, plenty of fresh snow, they got anywhere from 6-10" of new snow in this week and it has put the trails back into great conditions, we are in lac etchemin tonight headed over in the bas st laurent area tomorrow hope you are finding some good trails. RR
  2. Snowpro, I think it is better to let them go leaderless this trip and take no ownership, you will get appreciated more next time lol RR
  3. I think we might have met your crew between armstrong and St martin yesterday mid day; RR
  4. I agree with Markus, Andyman and SM on the gps, a great tool for riding trails especially when you have the trail system loaded on, and a necessity for off trail riding. I am using the Garmin Montana, the same unit that you would get from Skidoo with their gps program. Have found the unit to have a great visual screen and very easy to use compared to the garmin cx60 and delorme units that I have used in the past, and much more capable than the garmin nuvi that I tried one year. A very nice tool for sure RR
  5. Sounds like Jack has a very comfortable place to stay in and some awesome off trail gaspe riding. Thank you for supporting the site Jack RR
  6. MIke we made it down from Levis back to Maine today, but the trails are taking a beating in the historically lower snow areas of the chaudierres, from the warm temps and traffic this weekend, Many of the trails south of Tetford mines to Amrstrong were down to gravel in the corners. Once the temps turn, they will be passable, but you might want to consider leaving from locations that typically have higher snow levels. The lower levels are going to be boney. RR
  7. Mike rider, it is maybe 3 to 4 miles and right now it is not bad RR
  8. Mike, you are right, you can stay on the detoured section of the bed and cross the rail bridge, it is closed but you can cross it if you wish, plenty of sleds doing .this. I suspect the groomer can't cross the bridge due to weight??
  9. Mike rider, we had a great ride today as well. The weather report did not sound that good, we had only a few minutes of drizzle. It was great to meet you today, nice reporting on the conditions. You have nailed the description to a T When we left you, we went south on 85 to 544 to Pohegnamook, 35 west to 526, to 5 west,to55 south forlunch at tourville. Even though the temps were warm, the trails were great with similiar snow cover. With cold temps tuesday, these trails will be fine After lunch we took 35 west to 551 north to montmagny, than 5 west again to 543 and into Levis for the night. Met the long island New YORK crew several times today and they told us about the Sheraton four points in Levis, nice place for tonight, back to Maine tomorrow Good snow in Levis area too Good trails to all TR
  10. Thanks for mentioning this, Linda, I just downloaded looks like it has all the Maine trails and quebec trails, that I ride. Best regards RR
  11. Great report out of the south shore Scorp, looks buff for sure. Keep the reports coming! RR
  12. Scorp, keep us posted on those conditions as we will be headed that way in a few weeks great trails RR
  13. Groomer, great to see that machine out on the snow!!! Keep it coming sounds like you got another good batch coming soon!! all the best and Happy new Years RR
  14. It is the groulx mtns that I have heard about, never ridden there though, Just another thing to add to the list of snowmobile things todo!! I think quebecmtnrider would like the high elevation riding north west of forestville too. Looks like this area was burned over several years ago, regrowth has started but a lot a barren ground currently.
  15. Today was an absolutely gorgeous day, the best day we have had this week as far as being a blue sky day. We started off doing the forestville loop trail nice wooded ride here and a must do when you are traveling through forestville Nice Water fall on this loop And some taste of the valleys in the canyon Than the further north you go off the loop on the canyon roads you get spectacular views These canyon views are awesome Than we climbed elevations a got into some beautiful high elevation riding, we were near 2000 feet here Than we found these met towers that can only mean that there are wind turbines in the future for these elevations. We were at 2348 feet at this met tower Than we wandered over to Lake Portneuf for another lunch at Pourvoirie Quebec Nature lodge, nobody there but the porch worked well. Today it was beef jerky, italian wedding soup and the tea, (note: we save the crown royal for when we get back!) These lakes were north of Lake Portneuf, just great views today for sure Markusvt , sounds like you have been having some good riding on the west side, enjoy. We are headed home in the am, a super trip! RR
  16. Markusvt, great trail On the west side, enjoy your rides Scorp, we didn't run any no plowed Roads Yesterday! Haves great a great ride today
  17. Trailblazer, we love doing this kind of riding early in the season before the snow cover spreads over all areas, We are headed back to Maine on sunday, probably won't be back up on the north shore for while now as we have now received good snow cover back there. Will be doing similiar kinds of riding down there now and on the south shore. But the beauty and size of this area always makes a big impression on us. We will be back. Good people, good food, and great outdoors, it doesn't get better. RR
  18. Our trip today took us up the local forestville trail 30 miles of perfectly groomed trail up the canyon valley, if you ever have a chance when riding trail 3 , stop and take the loop up into the canyons north of forestville they are awesome, you can do a 60 mile loop up through this valley and enjoy awesome views. These pics are in the canyon valleys north of forestville After the groom trail stops the canyon road continues north and so we continued up that and headed again for the Pipmaucan reservoir area, the similiar area to where we were two weeks ago other than we were headed for the big pennisula that you see when you look at the reservoir. We headed up into here and found awesome roads to run We had noticed on google earth what appeared to be a landing strip up near the reservoir so we checked that out, nice strip here Than it was time for lunch, nice spot here a small lake near the larger lake called Lake Gouin, not to be confused with the reseroir Gouin further west of this area the jet boils work great for out gourmet chicken and "wild" rice soup and tea. The outdoor kitchen was a great addition to the lunch time event!! After lunch we explored a little more, refueled and back tracked back down, on the way we detoured and found the base structure near the Labieville road, we were puzzled as to what the would have been in its day Another great day out of forestville. Quebecmtnrider, is the location you are talking about near the truck stop Gabriel on the road to labrador? I have heard that area is interesting, we stopped there in our vehicle last March on our way to Lab for the cains quest race RR
  19. We arrived at forestville last night by vehicle, plenty of snow all along the shore from quebec to forestville, it appears all the groomers have been out, with notes that east of Saint anne to mal baie/clermont is really blessed at the higher elevations by snow. 2-3 feet in the fields and woods in this area. Still adequate cover all along the way, with tq 3 open in all areas that we observed today we rode west on tq 3 towards Portneuf sur mer, grabbed the local trail north up the portnuef river valley and than bush wacked over to the Pelchat valin trail (aka school bus trail) Portnuef river valley Bush wacking over to the pelchat trail was good too We had lunch at auberge 31, very packed with vacation week on the mt Meet up with scorpion bowl and rode with him up towards the north end of the bras louis where we separated and he headed south on bras louis and we headed back to forestville We had a good 285 miles of mixed style riding, all very good conditions here on the north shore RR
  20. We made Auberge 31 for lunch, great c condition, forestville all groomed, Pelchat, school bus trail groomed, yupper 900 ride is g good, not plowed, Valin trails are excellent.
