    GT 2018

Thanks for sharing Jim & Gemma. Jami and I are hoping to get back to Gaspe next season. We are going to the Doo show Monday to check out the new Doo Jami is going to order for next season. How did you like your new communicators?
  3. I found that you have to get fuel in Amos and it's about 120 miles from Matagami. That is no problem for the sleds in my group but for those who can't go that far on a tank you better carry fuel.
  4. I hope everything is good to go now Jim. I'm very curious to hear about your communicators also. We have used Colletts for 12 years and loved them. We ordered new ones this year and they were absolute junk. I couldn't get them to work. I used my 12 year old ones on my trip and they worked fine. I sent the new ones back for a full refund. I'm looking at either the new Uclear AMP pro's or Sena 20's. We will be trying out the new Doo Oxygen helmets next year along with new communicators.
  5. Breaking down is tuff when you are on a saddlebag trip. Jami's 1200 broke down in Sennetarre last week and we had to ride double for three days after. Good thing one of our riding partners has a 1200 Grand Touring. I call it the Rolls Royce of snowmobiles. I hope you guys get up and running today and your issue is minor. It does sound like either bad fuel or there was something in it that blocked your fuel filter.
  6. Hey Jim glad to see you and Gemma made it back to Gaspe. We got back from Temiscaming yesterday and Jami had breast surgery today so I don't think we will make it up this year. We have been using Colletts for years and loved them. I just bought some new ones to replace my 12 year old ones and they are junk. They will be going back for a full refund. We are hoping to get something new next year. Maybe Uclear or something else?
  7. I think you will be fine coming from the north.
  8. What are you getting nervous about?
  9. I was told there is fuel in Saint Domonique - Du Rosaire. We are planning to go to La Sarre from Matagami next Thursday.
  10. Awesome! we are looking forward to next week. We had this same trip planned last year but the weather turned to crap on us. I cancelled the whole thing on a Sat morning and by noon had another trip all booked in Gaspe. The next day we were in the Gaspe starting our saddlebag trip. These past few Winters have been a real challenge when it comes to planning trips.
  11. Thanks for the report. How was the stay at the lodge? How far was it to the first fuel stop?
  12. I'm looking forward to your reports since we will be heading out from the same place next Monday.
  13. Thanks Trailblazer I see it now. I was looking and zooming in near that area and still couldn't find it.
  14. I don't see Clova on the interactive map. I kind of figured out roughly where it is but was surprised it wasn't on the map.
  15. We will be getting to Tem Rose on the 18th and heading out Mon the 19th. we will be back there on the 24th and heading home the 25th. We probably won't be crossing path's but if we do I have a red/white sidewinder and the other three are 1200 Doo's. Have a great trip. Trail conditions are available on the Quebec FCMQ site and also on Abitibi Temiscamingue tourism site.
  16. Where are you staying in Temiscaming? We are staying and then leaving our rigs at Tem Rose for the week. The entire area is showing green so I'm assuming we should see great conditions. I've seen many of your posts about your Ontario trips. We also did many saddlebag trips in Ontario.(since 2001) Our longest was 1850 miles from New Liskeard North then down to the Sault and back through Timmins. We went to the Gaspe last year and now we will be focusing on Quebec for awhile since we have done pretty much everything in Ontario and needed a change.
  17. Thanks, they need to change what they have on their trail conditions report.
  18. Does anybody know why the trails around Malartic are showing closed including part of TQ 83? All other areas around them are open and showing very good to excellent conditions. Maybe a local issue of some sort?
  19. Sounds like a great trip. I just booked my trip from Feb 18 through the 24th. First day heading down 43 to La Verendrye then from there heading North. Amos - Matagami - La Sarre - Val Dor then back to Temiscaming. We will be in Val Dor on the 23rd (Hotel Forestel). We planned this trip last year but had to cancel because of rain. We ended up going to the Gaspe instead and it was awesome!
  20. Thank you for the info. I looked up Lances's convenient and the trail ends right there on the map. I'm hoping to ride that area Feb 17th through the 24th. Last year I had the trip up there all booked but had to cancel because of rain. We ended up going to the Gaspe for a week instead and it was awesome.
  21. Where is the gas station? I see there is Nanabush café on the map but no gas stations
  22. Depending on where you are going you can come back the other way so you do more of a loop instead of riding the same trail over again. That's what I'm planning. Starting out going southeast on 43 and then coming back 63 from the north.
  23. Sounds like my kind of trail. Is Rapides des joachims the nearest fuel stop that way?
  24. 359 KM it says on the interactive map. that's over 225 miles.
  25. Thanks I figured that but I think it's still over 200 miles. Do you have any idea what the conditions are in this area?
