No local knowledge, but groomers are out today according to the app. That's positive

I plan on spending quite a bit of time in Canada this summer but in Ontario on the St. Lawrence. Hopefully the weather is better this summer than last.
Nice!!! Now that makes sledding look cheap.

Left Baie Comeau last Tuesday , trails were good then except the local trail from 3 to the ferry and LeManoir was getting thin. After heat there tomorrow l can see why it is red now.
We departed for home from Les Escoumins Saturday morning. Lots of base left in the Les Escoumins- Forestville area up to KM31.
Rained in that area Wednesday night then flash froze hard Thursday and Friday. Pizza delivery guy could have delivered anywhere in the Cote Nord, Mont Valin area.
If the Les Escoumins to Baie Comeau area get the 15 cm of snow forecasted for this coming Sunday and then temps -5 at night next week that area should be golden again.
lf weather forecast doesn’t change we are heading back to Les Escoumins on Saturday.
lf your flexible waiting until next week looks the best. That's kinda my plan too. Thanks for the 1st hand report.

Anyone been through town in the last few days? Are trails holding?

Several teams scratched today. Team Maine was leading (they are past winners). Looks like they had a wreck and pulled one sled in on a rope for a significant distance (if they pulled from where the app shows them slowing down its gotta be well over 100 km they had the sled on a tow rope). Pretty neat to watch. Gonna have to make the trip one of these years. Would be neat to see them get a real big dump of snow mid race. If that doesn't occur it looks like the race will go fast. They ran over 600 kms in something like 10 hrs today. That's not trail riding either. These guys are a touch nuts running this at the speed they do.

Interesting development. Running a 650km loop north of Lab city, coming back to lab city due to no snow on the south coast. Then heading for Goose Bay and the north coast. If you haven't download the yellowbrick road app. Will be interesting to watch. Race starts tomorrow morning. 10 am local time in Lab City I believe.

We’ve done the Cote Nord this week leaving Hotel Pelchat in Les Escoumins Sunday morning. Baie Comeau Sunday night, Sept-iles Monday night , back to Baie Comeau Tuesday night.
Trails have been excellent for the most part. Godbout to Sept-iles going out and then back the next day we’re a F1 slot car course. Groomed both directions and almost zero traffic. Days you dream of for riding conditions.
Sunday night we were the only sledder group at La Manoir in BC, Tuesday night few more sledders. We did the big loop north of BC both days and it was excellent for snow cover and grooming.
Arrived in Forestville for Wednesday night. Very light rain Wednesday during the day, almost unmeasurable. During the night it rained more. Today Thursday morning it was cold and trails were hard as rock. We did the 200 km loop north of Forestville. More snow north of Forestville than anywhere else have seen. 8 sleds in our group, 5 with scratchers, 3 without. No problem running with scratchers, guys without had some cooling issues. One bush fix got a 1200 back to the hotel.
The loop north of Forestville is a real gem, scenic. Was concerned because grooming map showed not groomed for several days. So little traffic run up there conditions were perfect, not a bump.
Seems like half million people in Mont Valin and very few doing Cote Nord.
This trip from Feb. 25 until tomorrow finishing up back in Les Escoumins has been a 9/10 for conditions.
This is what I needed to hear. Now big debate. Northern Ontario or North Shore. I hope both areas survive one more week so we can get a trip in.

Worst season for quite a while Brand new sled with 0 miles 🤬will be brand new next winter . Brand new Catalyst wanted to try out this winter .
Let's hope for a comeback of winter next season.
You should head for Kirkland Lake and run the Northern Corridor. They got 6" - 12" of snow in this last storm.

Was it a lack of snow around Roberval? Or just rough?
-
Great report Alain. We rode a loop around Saint Donat last Wednesday and then a loop from Saint Come up to Pouvoire Coin Lavigne and back on Thursday. The odd tough stretch, but overall, I'd call 95% of the riding mid-season conditions. Maybe not as much base as the area is used to, but very good riding still. Here's hoping the weatherman isn't correct.

You guys using cell phones for pictures? Or something better?

Thanks,
I got a reply back that 90% of the white trail is still closed. So on to plan B I guess.

Anyone have any info on conditions on the white road? Also any chance the trail east of Sept Isles will open in the next little while. Was it lack of snow or something else holding that up?
-
Haha. I guess beggers can't be choosers. Well put.

The app is frustrating. Seems to contradict itself.

We had no freezing in the night for 3 days in a row, not much rain but it raise to 7C saturday noon at home, probably less worse more north but we had a good melt. It will begin to freeze back tonight and we had a good forecast for cold in the next days. The south of my area took a good hit but the snowmobile clubs in the north will try to groom monday night and will comeback with the results. It will be icy with some bare spots in the best scenario but it's hard to tell exact result... we will need new snow for sure but at this point I don't exactly know how it will be without new stuff.
Thanks. We're booked for the 19th for saint donat area. Just debating whether to cancel or not.

Any boots on the ground. How did these areas fair with the warm spell?

So my 2015 with 30,000 kms that i paid $8000 for 5 years ago isn't still worth $12,000 to sell today? Guess I should pull my ad down. Lol.
Considering the economy, the end of Covid and the weather, I'd say BRP has nothing to spitt at with those numbers. Still pretty respectful and better than pre-covid.
