  1. That might have been the place. You turned off the main trail and go down into a little ravine into a summer time camp ground with a restaraunt/bar. Has a porch for dining and drinking in the summer. Camping trailers parked next door.
  2. Yes we checked the weather. It was a crap shoot all week what this storm would do. There are people on here saying what great conditions they had just a week ago. Unfortunately for us, we had 7-day passes we had to order 2-weeks before trip and we had to go while family were away with other plans. Things got warm and fell apart this week. If it gets cold enough to groom that's great. Maybe next year for us. Don't know the name of the place we ate at. There's a big white sign off 85 just north of Cabano center that advertises a bar restaurant. Waitress was very friendly, helpful and attractive
  3. Tried to ride the Gaspe this week. Started out in Fork Kent and crossed into Clair on Wed AM. NB 41 to PQ35 was the best ridng of the day. Wanted to take 550 across to stay away from the flat lands. Bumpy mush that dead ends at Lac Meruimticook. So THERE IS NO 550. After a 70 mile detour that cost us 3 hours we made it to Cabano at 2 PM. Had a nice lunch, rode down the lake and onto 569 for 10 miles. Trails never got any better. Can't groom witht he temperatures we've been having. We realized that there wasn't a chance in hell we'd make Matane that day. Also realized that unless there's a cold snap, the trails are toast and mileage is confined to local loops into the hills. Went back to Fort Kent. Summarized sleds on Thu and drove home to So ME, in the hurricaine. So much for our first trip to Gaspe. Did I mention we had a nice lunch?
  4. Thanks. Now I understand. Didn't have the Readme file.
  5. Weren't these maps available in a Garmin compatible format like gpx? All I can get are img or typ files which I can't figure out what to do with.
  6. Antique /3 Day / 7 day permits cannot be sold on trail. That's what I got off the zenwaiter.com site. Which is why I'm trying to figure this out ahead of time. From the fcmq website: Extra charges are payable when the annual trail permit is purchased on trails. Note that permits issued for antique sleds, as well as daily or weekly permits, cannot be purchased on trails. I'm sledding in from Ft Kent thru New Brunswick. Will need passes ahead of time. Maybe Bill has an answer... Thanks for trying.
  7. That won't work if i buy them on-line. Unless I knew what day I was going to start my trip. So I guess my question still stands.
  8. Bill, dumb question. How does the 7-day pass work? Obviously 7 consecutive days. But if i buy one now not knowing when the trip will actually be, is there some space i have to write the week in on the pass? Thanks. Steve
  9. Are RWS' maps for PQ still around?
  10. Got any pics with y'all manning the booth?
  11. I'm not interested in leaving anything near the city. Heard too many horror stories. Rob's included.. I have an option to ride from Ft kent, ME that might come into play as well. Depends on the guy with the house in Ft Kent and his schedule.
  12. Looks like I've got 4 possibles. Early, i see your posts on sledmaine. You'll be spending t-giving vacation up there. Is that a boondocking trip or trail riding?
