  1. My map will display on the StreetPilot III but I am not sure the StreetPilot is capable of handling the TYP customization which would show the trails color coded. Have you checked eBay prices on a 276c? Edit: I found this...it does appear the StreetPilot supports TYP. Be sure to update the unit with the latest firmware. http://www.malsingmaps.com/wiki/index.php/...th_custom_types
  2. The problem with the .kml trail file is it contains 10,600 tracks. Most Garmin GPS's have a limited amount of track storage space (generally 20 or less) making it difficult to load up any amount of trails to your GPS. That is why I made the Quebec custom trail map available on this site. Mapsource screenshot of Quebec trails .kml files converted to Garmin .gdb (trails in yellow)
  3. The first 3 pictures are from the Ontario side of Lake of the Woods north of Sioux Narrows. The last picture is a sample of the huge pressure ridges on Buffalo Bay on the Minnesota side of Lake of the Woods.
  4. I'd doo like doobraap mentioned above...create a route in Mapsource with the Route Tool clicking on points of the trail map where you want to go...then upload to your GPS and navigate the route.
  5. My trail maps only work in Garmin.
  6. I have created three tutorial videos that play in Windows Media Player showing how to select maps, create routes and tracks in MapSend and then use in the eXplorist series of Magellan GPS. A READ_ME_FIRST.txt file is included in each tutorial with step by step text instructions to follow along with the video. Download the following tutorial zip files to your computer, then open the zip file to extract the instructions and video files. How to Create a Track Since MapSend does not have a tool to create tracks this tutorial will show you how to make a track, transfer it to SD card and then use it in your GPS. How to Create a Route This tutorial will show you how to create a route in MapSend, transfer it to SD card and then use it in your GPS. How to Transfer Maps This tutorial will show you how to select maps in MapSend, transfer it to SD card and then use it in your GPS
  7. My custom Garmin maps install into Mapsource where you then can select it for upload to your Garmin GPSr. All my maps are created with a transparent background so your basemap or any Garmin detailed maps (Topo, City Navigator etc) you upload along with the trail maps will show through. The trail maps can be toggled on/off in your GPSr just like any other Garmin map. A READ_ME_FIRST.txt file is included with installation/use instructions. Screenshot from a Garmin GPS showing how trails will appear when uploaded along with Topo Michigan State-wide Snowmobile Trail Map with floating trail numbers New York State-wide Snowmobile Trail Map with trail numbers Minnesota State-wide Snowmobile Trail Map Quebec Province-wide Snowmobile Trail Map color coded trails with floating trail numbers Lake of the Woods Area Snowmobile Trail Map MN, Ontario and Manitoba North Dakota State-wide Snowmobile Trail Map PM me for this map Custom Map Making Tutorial I have created a video tutorial that uses Cypherman's Mapset Toolkit and genTYP...very nice front ends for cGPSMapper...making it real easy to make and install maps with custom color trails into Mapsource. The zip file contains a video that plays in Windows Media Player showing how to make a transparent map from Garmin track files using GPSMapEdit, cGPSMapper, MapsetToolkit and genTYP. Included in the zip file is a READ_ME_FIRST.txt file that has step by step text instructions to follow along with the video. Creating Custom Garmin Maps from Google Earth Maps Here's a video tutorial that plays in Windows Media player to get you started making basic maps by tracing map features in Google Earth and then making and installing the map into your Garmin GPS. Uses the same software as in the Map Making Tutorial above. Creating Custom Garmin Maps from Google Earth Maps II Tutorial 2....adding more detail to the previous Tutorial map....roads, airstrip, resort and parking lots. Once you learn the basics you can add all the detail you want to your maps. Uses the same software as in the Map Making Tutorial above.
  8. The new color coded map will display correctly ONLY on late model color Garmin units that support TYP. For non-color and older Garmin units use my other map. Be sure you have the latest version software for both your GPS and Mapsource...which can be downloaded from Garmin's website for FREE. On your V all the trails will appear as a grey line with black border...the same as how Interstate Highways appear.
  9. If you want to remove the old map from Mapsource go to Control Panel...Add or Remove Programs and select Quebec Snowmobile Trails 2007 and delete it. If you want to use the the new maps just install it into Mapsource and upload the new map to your GPS...any time you upload maps to your GPS it replaces the previous maps that were on the card....so noting this if you want to upload Topo maps and the trail map they must be uploaded together in one shot.
  10. Nice collection of waypoints...since the trails are numbered on the new map I'd recommend deleting the waypoints that refer to the trail numbers to reduce screen clutter.
  11. This is my upgraded map which has the trails color coded...trans-Quebec trails are blue/white border with square shaped floating trail numbers, regional trails are green/white border with rounded shaped floating trail numbers and local trails are magenta/white border. It took a lot of manual manipulation to produce this map so if you find any errors please let me know so I can correct them. This map will display correctly ONLY on late model color Garmin units that support TYP. For non-color and older Garmin units use my other map. Be sure you have the latest version software for both your GPS and Mapsource...which can be downloaded from Garmin's website for FREE. Download new map here...open zip file and read the READ_ME_FIRST.txt file for installation/use instructions. Quebec GPS Trail Map Screenshot from a Garmin 276c showing how trails will appear.
  12. I'm working on my Quebec trail map adding trail numbers and color coding the trails as trans-Quebec, regional or local. I've got the western 1/3 done...trans-Quebec trails will be blue/white border with square shaped floating trail numbers, regional trails will be green/white border with rounded shaped floating trail numbers and local trails will be magenta/white border. Here's a screenshot from a 276c showing how it will look.
