  1. http://www.snowmobile.com/events/ski-dooing-to-the-north-pole-707.html Interesting article sent to me by my snowmobiling buddies. Enjoy the summer reading.....
  2. Great report and videos. My father got me into this sport 35 years ago. Now at 45, I still cherish all of the times we spent on our sleds. I miss the times when he was picking up the tab...haha. Conditions appear to have been great. Thanks for sharing!!
  3. Ice - I know a certain barmaid at the Valinouet ski resort in Mt Valin who was asked by a Ski Dooer how much was a lift ticket for his motoneige as he wanted to purchase a ticket. It happened to be snowing very hard around 8pm with no groomers on the mountain or anyone in sight and the area had just received 1 ft of fresh powder since the resort closed that afternoon. When asked, she smiled and said No Motoneige which sounded like No lift ticket required for Motoneige. So a certain patron and his friend left, jumped on their sleds, maneuvered through the orange ribbon fencing to the base and skied up the hill and slalomed down the hill on a few "trails" one February evening. No one needed any sticks that night but they definitely skied Mt Valin. Or so the story goes.....

  5. Bill. Hope you feel better and a speedy recovery.
  6. Agree with others regarding QCity, however, go here if you want to stay in a fortress in the woods! Snowmobiling, dog sledding, spa, unbelieveable 5 Star experience, fine dining, etc. they've even coordinated an ice driving experience in years past. http://www.sacacomie.com/hotel-sacacomie-quebec-welcome-to-sacacomie-en.html
  7. Yes, good snowmobiling friends normally take pics of their pals taking a wiz and then post it!! lol. Oh you mean the conditions.....
  8. Amazing story and thanks for reposting the details and knowledge. Can never be overprepared for snowmobiling in Quebec regardless of your experience in the sport. I carry a Mylar survival blanket that is in a 6"x6" very small pouch but unfolds if you need it. It's traveled 20,000 miles across the Province over the past 10+ years and I hope to never have to use it.
  9. #QuebecriderLivesMatter! Make America Great Again as in 1.60 Exchange Rate and the Quebec snowmobile season/industry would be HUGE. Next week we could see 1.40 with interest rate hike and the promise of more....

  11. He's managing as best as possible but very difficult as we are so lost as to why he missed the turn when he made 100+ turns that day. Dallas was one of my brothers best friends. Thanks again for you guys stopping and helping us out and being supportive. We greatly appreciate all of the assistance by the local police and rescue teams as well.
  12. Dallas was not traveling alone. There were 4 of us including him. My brother was 3rd and DAllas was following behind. It was his first day riding and we had done about 80 miles at the time of the accident. We were heading from Coin Lavigne to Koubecs. For an unknown reason he just missed a turn, went off an embankment and hit a tree dying upon impact. Having snowmobiled in Quebec for over 20 years, we are in complete shock and devastated. The article is correct in that he was doing around 35 so it's not like he was doing 50-70mph. Dallas leaves behind a wife and two children (daughter in college and son in high school) and many good friends and family. Be careful on the trails, tell your buddies and family you love them everyday, and please continue to pray for his family and the other families affected by snowmobile deaths. Thanks to everyone here for their kind remarks.
  13. Trailblazer. Nice meeting you at Kanawata and speaking with you. We made it to Windigo last night in same wet snow conditions and today ran into a large wolf on the trail about 20 miles east of Windigo. This wolf was large and his paws were the size of my hand. We took it slow to make sure helmet the trail as we didn't want tone his breakfast. Hope you had a good ride.
  14. Stayed there several times. Really nice. CAD125+/- gets you room, 4 course meal (and the food is great) and breakfast. They also have gas but you can fill up in Parent. Heading east you should be able to gas in Clova before you hit Parent.
