  1. Day 2: we leave LeCabanon at 8:30 and take 63 West to SMDS. From there we jump on the lake and take it up to Auberge Taureau where we pick 33 up. All fresh groomed right to Repos. Gas up there and on to Kanawata for lunch. We decided to head back to Repos and top the gas then take 345 to 360 and the barrage back to LeCabanon. 8 miles before Repos I broke the front bolt for the shock in the skid. My 2016 Apex is the first year for the single shot. Anyone familiar with it knows what a pain in the butt this is. I had changed out the air shock long ago for an Elka, but she likes to eat bolts. Thought we had it resolved but no. After an hour or so of trailside mechanics, we get it together enough to get back but forget the 345, we are taking the 33 all the way and retracing our steps from earlier. It’s the shortest route and it was groomed. Got back at 6:00 PM with 220 miles on the clock. Will have to pull out the spare for the rest of the trip
  2. Got home from the Gaspe trip Monday January 30th, Decided Tuesday gonna head right back up Sunday the 5th for a week at LeCabanon. Just 3 of us on this trip, my 77 year old Dad will be leading this trip. He has been staying here since the mid 80’s and LaGlaciere before that. We leave at the crack of 9AM 😂 not as chipper as he used to be, it’s ok we will ride at his pace, he will lead. We head out on 23 in the East direction. Take that down to 345 and go check if Koubek’s is open, they are not on Monday’s apparently. We roll up 23 to 350 towards Lac Blanc. We take the gas there then continue up 349 through Lac au Clare back up to 23. We still head East and have a late lunch at the old Cabane Chez Hill. Forget the new name. After lunch double back on 23 to Sacacomie for gas then back 23 all the way to 345 and into LeCabanon. 200 miles for the day, trails ok not great, not terrible. They had an accumulating snow yesterday and the trails that were not groomed last night were a little loose and some bumpy, not bad
  3. Doesn't matter sticker or not, it's not like years ago when they waved you bye if you had a sticker. We were checked twice last week. 1st. time was on the Gaspe just passed PALC. We all had season passes and stickers on sleds but they checked the papers on all of us. The 2nd time was Sunday afternoon in RDL almost back to the Universal. I was leading and the officer looked at all my paperwork and my drivers licence then asked if everyone was in my group. he checked the others stickers and had us move on. I will also add we all has a season NB permit as well as a season Maine registration
  4. Day 5: Leave Matane this AM with many clubs showing grooming activities during the night. We take 5 West to 591 then ale that South as the 5 wasn’t groomed. 591 was groomed but the fields are drifted. Slow going until we get to 5 again then the pace picks up. Took the local trail at Padoue to 587N then hook back up to 5. Continue on 5 to Mont Lebel and take some gas then continue to 35 towards Rimouski. Pick up the 5 West one more time. We continue on 5 and take a break at Trois Pistoles clubhouse. After a short break we continue on 5 to 85 then 526 into the Universal. 210 miles for the day. Trails surprisingly good considering all the snow and wind
  5. Day 4, snowing pretty good when we are packing up to leave SADM. Decide to see what we can get. Hit 5 and head East, few inches of snow so far, winds not so bad. 20 miles out and it’s getting deeper, starting to push hard. We pass the St Paulin relay and like reported on here it’s closed so we push on. It started getting windy snowing hard now, we come into St. Adelme and top the gas. We pull into the relay and decide to have an early lunch and figure out where to go from here. A few of the locals express how bad the storm is getting, we decide to continue to Matane and quit for the day. We leave and the drifting is getting bad, time to quit, we made the right choice. Pull into the Riotel and it’s snowing sideways. Good to be done.

  7. Jack, if you leave Amqui and take the trail from the gas station in St. Irene it’s 154 local. When you cross into NB it is 155, you take that to 17 then to Moose Valley. It’s 100 miles from Amqui to Moose Valley this way

  9. Day 3 we left Maria and decided to make a bigger day. There is weather coming with 30+ cm in some places and 70 kmh wind gusts. We stop in Nee Richmond and top the gas off then take 595 North towards LaCache. We took the local to the left at the split. Trail was fresh groomed and nice scenery. Met back up with 595 and took it to LaCache. We did a gas and go and headed for Murdochville. Tons of snow in the center trail not fresh groomed but still in good shape. We rolled into Murdochville did a gas station lunch topped the gas and headed North on 597. 597 wasn’t fresh groomed but was still good. When we hit the 5 it was groomed and we headed West. Great day for pictures and had some great views of the St. Lawrence, we rode to St. Anne Des Monts and stayed at Hotel and Cie. 256 miles for the day and again awesome trails.
  10. Day 2 took us South and East. Left Amqui on 587. Took the local to Lac Humqui to check the trail 😂😂 actually was a wrong turn and didn’t catch it until we got there 10 miles later. Gassed there and doubled back. Took it back to 5 to Albertville. Gas was closed there, not sure if it was just because they are not open every day or if they are closed for good. Too early for clubhouse to be open so we continued on. Took a rest on the trail and had a trail side snack. Definitely not as many places open as there used to be. We went into Causapscal to top the gas should we take the cutoff after St. Marguerite. Continued on 5 and took the local cutoff to La Alverne. Trails are all awesome and again very little traffic. Met back up with 5 East and got gas at St. Omer, really thin down low and by the water. Continued on 5 and took a break at the Carleton clubhouse. Tried calling for rooms at the Francis in New Richmond but they were booked. A local guy in the clubhouse called and got us rooms in Maria at the Auberge Marchand. Instead of heading right there we went back up in the mountains and checked out the overlook then took some more of the orange trails and came out on 5 just before Maria. Found the exit off the trail 5 and headed to the hotel. It leads into a cul de sac and a plowed road. A little scratchy getting in but as we got almost to 132 a pickup truck headed towards the cul de sac flashed his lights for me to stop. Turns out it was the guy from the clubhouse who came to check on us when we didn’t get there earlier. I think he saw us go up in the mountains when we left and was worried for us. The holes is nice, the restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday but there is an IGA next door and they have a common kitchen on the 2nd floor of the hotel so we got some food and made it there.
  11. A little late posting, but we (6 riders) left the Universal in RDL Monday morning. We took 526 to 85 to the local 44. All nice, a little thin close to town but overall good condition and coverage. We then too 544 East to St. Cyprien then continued on 571 to 546. All trails in great condition and more snow in the interior. Ended up on 35 to 5 and took that to 579 at St. Gabriel. Took that to 587 and went and checked out the radar tower. Visibility was poor so hard to get good pictures. We continued to St. Irene and took the gas there. Rode into Amqui and stayed at the Selecthotel for the night. 194 miles, trails very good and little traffic.
  12. This is the map on the app. A is an Irving at the border and B is Moose Valley. Right now it shows a closed section in black. Not sure if that is accurate.
  13. There usually are signs but get the NB trail app. It is similar to iMotoneige and works well. If you come in from Degelis on 85 you will want to make a left on 17 I think. Then that will take you right there
  14. Didn’t ride to Moose Valley but rode from Amqui to Lac Humqui Tuesday and trails were mint. Only thing is big storm today here so that changes everything
  15. We are heade that way soon. Leaving this evening from here in PA and will stay over somewhere in upstate NY then continue to the Universal for tomorrow night. Going to be headed right out Monday on a saddlebag trip. Thanks for your reports, although we had this trip planned all along your reports have given us some comfort.

  18. Thanks Don, I guess that is an option but at that point may as well cross at PALC. Just prefer riding my snowmobile versus a roll back
  19. thanks GT, I have crossed there before and that is a nice trail, just saw how close a trail comes to the town of Matapedia on the New Brunswick side I figured there must be a way to cross on sled and not roll back. Just trying to figure out a way. May have to just cross with Mundles in Cambellton or cross at that crossing from St. Irene
  20. I know this question has been asked before at one time or another, but has anyone ever found a way to cross at Matapedia by snowmobile?
  21. We may be using that crossing next week at some point, headed to RDL Sunday for a saddlebag trip. No plans on where we are going
  22. I agree 100% Don. then after doing everything wrong accuse the place of setting them up.
  23. Border is open at Estcourt Station Monday-Friday 8am-3:45 PM closed weekends and holidays.
