O.K all Qeubec riders.......here is your chance for an early season smackdown. Load up the trailers. Thought you had to go all the way to  Mt Valin.....bwahhhhhhhhh

Seriously....major event going on for parts of NY. Typical snow belt areas. They closed the thruway for next couple days to all truckers and might go full closure. This is some serious shit. But...it will all melt within a week or so and be nothing more than a PITA for eveyone. Certainly not rideable as it will be heavy and wet. I live at the tip of the pen in the picture and wont get much of anything here.

The exact same thing happened here in 2014 as you can see. Lets hope it's not as bad and no one dies this time.

Remember seeing pictures and videos of Watertown back then. Serious Sh&t back then. My mother is from Buffalo and those pics when she was a kid were insane!!!!!

    Hello fellow Quebec Riders !!!!

Dont know about the rest of you but it’s been a LONG LONG summer for me. Hot, dry and humid is not exactly how I like spending my days. But the upside is there was a stretch of over 30 days that I didn’t have to mow the lawn. Only took the boat out twice this summer because I was just too busy trying to finish up projects at the house. Funny how when you get older everything seems to take twice as long as you thought. To add to the summer doldrums my mom unexpectedly passed away about 6 weeks ago (age 78) and we are still going through trying times with that. Throw in the economy and state of the world nowadays and well.... you get the picture.

So on top of all that there is the news of the M20 & M21. Sadly it appears that the loggers are going to be doing their thing this winter and the area won’t really be conducive to sledding. Ironically I have been very disappointed the last two seasons with both trails. What I noticed from years passed was the increased traffic and number of people using their camps in the area. So much so that I couldn’t get fresh groomed for the life of me. This was never an issue especially on the M21 but now seems impossible. There is a group of 3-4 younger dudes hanging at camp up there somewhere and I swear as soon as the groomer leaves they unleash MAJOR havoc on the trail. Oh well....I guess I did the same up there for a lot of years prior...LOL

As far as Andre’s camp at the end of the M21, one could still get within 4 miles or so of the camp off the #2 road and #1 road which are plowed. For our little crew that doesn’t make much sense as once at the camp....”what now” ?? I guess if we all were not riding big, heavy four strokes we could take the back roads (unmaintained) trail out of there. I’m just not into that type of adventure at this point in my life. We had a hard enough time last season on the groomed trail due to our trip timing and storms. So...at this time and juncture I’m sitting out on the camp this coming season. Will try and concentrate on a few good trips (hmm.. haven’t been to the Abitbi in awhile) with good weather.

All that being said....it was very refreshing and enjoyable to spend 4 days at the camp last week with my two BFF’s.                          We spent some time installing more solar panels and installing roof vents but left plenty of time for fishing (sucked big time), 4-wheeling, and just hanging out. It had been 3 years since I was there without snow and my buddy Jeff’s first time ever.

Here ...the camp a week ago today (Sept. 19th) as we were heading back home.

Love the summer pic of the cabin.

Even a shot of NITRO FUEL couldn’t set her right for the return home.

The old girl just had ENOUGH!!!!

Since her arrival, she has given you some incredible memories that will last a lifetime!!!!!! Real curious on the off-season diagnosis and revival.

Food at Cabanon not bad, you go to restaurant and order, they call on your phone when ready and you go back to your room to eat. Its actually a lot faster than it was eating in restaurant. At Mattiwin we just went in gas station to warm up and ate candy bars. We were told to keep our masks on even while eating. I can deal with all this as long as we are riding. 🤪

Whatever it takes!!!!! Enjoy the WIND!!!!

    Have a safe trip👍

We leave our bed early this morning for a 155 miles ride around the Taureau reservoir

-25C at 9:00 when we started from Lac Blanc auberge trailer parking lot. It is a bit limit on snow near the auberge but when in the mastigouche reserve it was freshly groomed: perfect

We did the north side of the loop first so toward Taureau dam. The #23 section that have been plowed earlier in December was now perfect

    This water look very hot!!!

    DSC03663.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

Fresly groomed on the north side of the reservoir

We cut on reservoir by the local trail from l'auberge du Lac taureau to the St-Michel village that was nice and fast. The reservoir level is still high and the ice cover had almost no drops yet.

A foursome was playing golf on the court near the village of St-Michel

    DSC03705.JPG?width=1920&height=1080&fit=

We fueled up at St-Michel and then stop at an old view point on the top of the mountain for lunch. There are some potatoes in the big hills but the rest of the trail nice.

The sun was nice but it was for the strong one to eat outside today!

The #63 toward Cabanon was nice and the #23 in Mastigouche Reserve even more

The last strech toward l'auberge du lac Blanc was a bit bumpy. It miss some snow but will be ok with grooming. They install a wood stove with tables and bench around to heat up and eat at the Auberge and take out orders are available like last year.

So an easy 155 miles for her first run to Kristine and 2nd for me. I have tried some video but my camera setup have hard time trying to withstand those temperature. I will check at what I recorded and probably be able to put something together for later.

So the season is really started there. let's enjoy!

A few sleds here, most people put them in their trailers at night, and the trailers are out of sight f the webcam.  I am really enjoying Bishops. Rooms are fairly big and they are super clean.

Can’t go wrong with BISHOPS. That’s are spot when coming out of Southern Quebec heading to Fort Kent. Is Mama Bears open at all down the street?

Always nice enjoying a different sled sometimes..... Good for you.👍

    ENJOY THE WIND!!!!!!

Back in Jackman for a few days. Got to ride a few hours this afternoon. First five miles out of town a little snirty and the groomer pulled up plenty of small rocks to cover the trail, but pretty good after that. Big question will be if there is enough snow on the trails to do any big loops.  gkw coming up tomorrow afternoon to join me. Storm in the forecast starting Tuesday, more coastal but maybe 6 to 8 here in the mountains.
