I may have to start a new thread.......

We have been so appreciative of everyone helping out, today’s breakdown in Main Brook was an example, everyone chips in to find the means to get you parts, a shop and back going.
As mentioned before it’s a way of life in a tough land.

Today we visited a memorial, this was of a snowmobiler who was not as fortunate in a bad storm. He was found huddled around this rock on the barrens outside of St Anthony.  He was not able to get help in time!

The scenery rivals the White road, Labrador and what we have seen in Alaska.  Definitely  this is something to put on your to do list!

Our second day consisted of our self guided run up the Souflette river system into the Long  Range Mountain  highlands.  The highlands are really something to experience and respect. You do not want to get caught out here in a storm system. A local lost his life here a few weeks ago while out in these highlands during bad weather !
. There is no shelter or land marks to go by. You must trust your gps or don’t go!

We headed to the outfitter Boughwiffins on the Cloud river.  Let me just say that both the outfitter at Harbor Deep and Cloud river are first class, if you want to come here , they will take care you.
we have their contact if anyone is interested.
Gray weather is forecasted for the next few days so, we will have not the scenery, still a great time.

    Happy trails RR

This years adventure takes us again,  out of the QR territories.  We are currently waiting for the ferry to Port au basque Newfoundland.  Our scheduled 5 hour ferry ride last night was cancelled from North Sydney NS. But we are on for a 2 pm departure today.  Arriving in NL tonight around 7pm .. hopefully!  This will not be a high miler run but we are looking forward to lots of snow, great views and lots of good conversations.  There are 10 of us and we will be covering the north eastern tip of NL, from Deer Lake, and north.  Happy hour in the trailer last night waiting for the ferry was the high light last night after an 11 hour drive!  A blue sky day today is in order for the sail!

    Happy trails

Jak and I rode over to Rimouski and looped around to Squatec. Trails overall were wonderful. Met lots of groomers on the trail along the way. I sometimes wish for safety sake the groomers could only be allowed out after 4 pm. Met a group of riders at the Rimouski club house who stated they were stranded in Matane for four days because of the storm and drifting.  Not long after our arrival back to the hotel, GT Rider and Mrs. Gt arrived and we had a great visit.  His adventure stories are always the best, so anxious to read his stories of this trip.
A few people at the beginning of the season said they wanted to know how I liked the new ACE 900 in the G4 wide body chassis. I am around the 4,700 mile mark now and best sled ever. Oil and filter, adjust chain and track once, that is it. This newer version has a few more horsepower than the earlier versions and I notice it at the higher speeds, more punch from 60-80 and doesn't slow down as much in the softer snow, head winds, up hill etc. Gas mileage is close to the old versions, maybe just a little less. While I have read the G4 two strokes take more body english riding them, the G4 wide body is not like that. It is extremely stable, no inside ski lift, ski suspension is softer/much better than older versions. Also the G4 has an optional shock mount hole for the rear shock. This changes the angle of the shock to make it ride more plush. I now have 400 miles on this adjustment and so far very impressed with the plushness it added to the rear suspension ride. It only takes a couple minutes to do; remove bolt, move shock to line up with the other hole, and install bolt. I did this while the sled was in the back of my truck. Turbos probably also have this extra hole for the adjustment. I really like the new seat with the lip in back to hold you in place. I never liked the flat seats.

We made it back to the truck today we rode from Matane to RDL,the trails where in pretty good shape ,lots of groomers k locking down snow drifts a couple days they should be in great shape.
This trip was a learning experience for us even though I  did not get to see the whole Gaspe next year I  will have a better Idea where to go.
We still managed to get 1400 miles on this trip , some great experience  also.
Back to Ohio in the morning
    Ride safe

Well day 2 the plan was to keep heading East and see how far we can go. TQ3 in great shape to 378 into st Simeon for lunch at small b&b. Owner said 93 closed to sacre cour and 3 closed from tadousac East. Ok plan b. Backtracked to the 83 up the clermont express which was stellar! To Auberge des battures for the night. 200 miles. Still a ridiculous amount of drifts in open areas. Looks like the elusive Cote Nord will have to wait!

After a hectic ride up yesterday to shawinigan with massive vehicle pile ups on i15, sitting in one spot for close to 3 hours finally made it to the goevenour hotel. The plan was to ride to Sept isles. We shall see. First of all leaving this place sucks! Too much snow! Ended up riding the road to get to the bridge which was actually fine, they bladed the sidewalk. Drifts no tracks, limited signs, the river to deal with. Would not recommend this place. Anyway finally hit tq3 freshly groomed. Pretty nice most of the way East. Snow getting deeper the farther East you go and still super windy. Passed 2 groomers without the drags. Just trying to get the trails passable. You can tell there where massive drifts that they knocked down. In Bae St Paul for the night with 204 miles for the day. The plan is to continue East depending on conditions. Few pics before the wind picked up and battery quit

I am wishing the entire gang headed to Sept Iles a safe and wonderful ride.

Wanted to share a few pictures of the big snow we encountered Thursday.   We started the day at KM 31 headed to the Delta via 93 and the 383 south of the river.   Only 50 miles of our 217 mile day was groomed.    The snow was near 2ft for a lot of the ride.   We broke trail for 50+ miles, then a group of 5 guys led.   Never would have made it without them.    It was one of rose days you never forget.    It was Epic!

    Days 3 and 4
Out of Chicoutamee up around LSJ to St Felician to Hotel JUdan for the night. Trails all in mint condition. Passed more sleds in the first hour then the previous 2 days combined. Plan was to head to Windigo to hook up with skidoo 420. Toms sled is done and is at DU Ravage. Tom makes the 320 mile solo run to windigo. Finally all together! Great night with skidoo 420 and his buddy Dave. TQ 83 tracked up with about 6-8” of fresh snow. Groomer was headed East out of relais 22. After saying our good byes in the morning me Eric and Tom headed 83 west to wemaci. Ungroomed . Fueled up and bingo groomer right at the beginning of the 83! SWEET!!!! Took that to the 345 and also fresh groomed! Set up like concrete! Kanawsta for lunch and into Canada Adventure for the night. Tq 33 south good and bad. In the morning tom heads to shawinigan, me and Eric 2 more days of riding.

TB, we had a great evening with Yves,
Today was another eventful day, we had several new riders and our intentions were to all ride to Forestville for lunch.  Well as they say, so much for best laid plans.
We left this am with 13, but ended up in Forestville with 8
A blown corner with two of the brand new sleds and the riders ended up wet and the end of their ride for this .day.
Some minor physical injuries and some wet sleds.  After that the sled recovery crew cleaned up the mess , as 8 continued on.
All is well that ends well. Both sleds are running again and it was the nicest day of riding we have had all week weather wise.
a great lunch at the econolodge in Forestville and some absolutely beautiful riding today.

    North to the Pipmuacan tomorrow

    Happy trails
