  1. Well I think I was sleeping when that picture was taken 🙂 But yes I see our cats sleeping.
  2. So we had 3 areas on our radar last week but was waiting on the weather Wednesday to pass before we left. Based on the great reporting of Iceman we were debating Val D'or or LSG. Gaspe I figured would be too soft as well some areas were getting quantities of snow and likely not the best trails without time. So Early Thursday am on the black trail to Saint Raymond. Arrived by noon. Anxious to try our very late arrival new sleds. Route was to be the Delta for the night and then over the mountain to a place Des Cedres? for Friday night and back up through the orange Saturday to Alma and truck Sunday. Well 10 miles in buddies new machine is not purring like a Cat and chain case not sounding good. Turn back and bring it to the dealer next to the Roch. Turns out assembly at the factory missed a ring and gear was moving. Chain and other internals need replacement but all parts available and ready by 4. Great service. So new plan now. While I have never been to this little place they have and wanted to return. OK so if we take the 3 across we could potentially get there in a long day. I was not as enthusiastic on this as I never seem to find the 3 in nice shape. But being a Friday, albeit one after a rain storm it might be ok. Well turns out it was a white carpet. Incredible smooth. Some areas likely not ridden in days. Passed 2 locals all day. Only hick up was when we came across a section marked closed. Didn't see that on the app. Trail looks good though lets carry on. Not long after we see why. Its a water crossing and yes there looks like there might be some water. We joke we have floater suits and off we go. Appears to have looked worst that it was was. Next day might not be the same. Well as the day progressed my thoughts we're turning to the Fairmont for the night. It was about 4 when we were in the area and was starting to rain and it was an easy sell to the other 2. This Des Cedres place will have to wait another year. Other than the rental sleds there were 2 others in the garage. I miss the buffet but have a food porn pic for some of you sicko's from breakfast. Saturday plan now to cross at Tadousac and take the 93 up and over to the Delta. Well the rain and cold temps had the trails challenging in that they were darting like SOB till be got closer to the Ferry. Again only passed a few sleds west of the ferry. Rode to Sacre Coeur for Lunch and topped up. After the morning tight twisty trail the 93 was a welcome site. Double wide and smooth just the way our turbo's like it. Made short work to La Chapelle and was good till about the last 5 miles before the mountain sleds wrecked it all. Went in for a break you know support the locals. Not sure who does the hiring but all very healthy. They indicated even though there's an abundance of snow they will close after next weekend. So trail was beat up from there down to the ski hill. After that was very rideable and into the Delta about 5. BP for dinner and breakfast and nothing special here. Maybe 8 other sleds in the compound over night. I think there was a ground of 3 from Maine, rest Quebec plates. I was really expecting purple when i woke up Sunday morning. Was cold enough over night i felt to groom but at 7 am wasn't showing me what I wanted. Well after breakfast I was rechecking the route and wow it was updated and there was purple every where, alleluia! Route now changed as we take the 83 to the 23. Used to take the Bill trail but doesn't show as an option now. Well in hind sight who cares. This was perfectly groomed and well set. Great fun with the hills etc. Into Mt Aptica for gas & sugar pie a little after 10. Passed a few sleds but expecting to start seeing more coming north. They will also be closing after next weekend. Onwards the trail was a solid 9. Great sections to stretch out the turbos again. Maybe 35 miles from St Raymond noticed a corner had been missed. Stopped and there was a burnt out 2 up sled hard against the tree down the hill. Hopefully they are ok. Just the skeleton of the machine as a reminder. About 20 miles from St Raymond as we get lower the trail is now soft mush but at least its smooth. Pull in at 1 and load up. 640 miles for the 2/12 day riding. Forget that its April this was some of the best riding I've had in ages. For the most part great weather, light traffic and rarely a bad trail. I think the very cold weather helped this season for solid base. While there's lots of snow places are now closing off. Its really too bad but its the economics of it all now. Hopefully next winter will bring many of you easy access to come north again and rekindle your love affair with Quebec. Didn't take a lot of pic's as frankly more often than not trail was so nice I didn't want to stop but will upload some that i took later.
  3. Not me, we're heading out tomorrow for 3-4 days. Waiting on weather to decide Gaspe or Val D'Or, I'm leaning towards Val D'Or. If I stay home I''ll likely have to cut my grass lol
  4. When we stopped for gas yesterday in Desmaraisville he was warning of this and said it was just down the road from there. He also said he going to Mexico at the end of the month and the store-gas would be closed so if anyone is going through better plan ahead.
  5. Good info, Thanks. Its been a while since I've done this loop but I know its fun. Hope you find a sled for your trip.
  6. So being that you ride & know this area well, what would be a reference point or mileage point to look at if we're coming south? We are leaving Friday am from Louvicourt to Relasis 22 and then off to Chibougamau for Saturday night and will be running down Sunday. Being these are highways we might just be going over the speed limit, can't confirm or deny this of course. As i am the lead dog would like to avoid contributing to their clam bake. As such my sled is not available for loan this weekend. If my spring order a arrived I could help on the needed sled but alas using mine this weekend. Thanks Mike
  7. Thanks Any concerns for open water in the area or does it usually freeze up tight?
  8. Glad to see its snow up there, heading north Thursday. Like many my back is sore just looking at the pictures. Thanks for posting and the stories. So what is this short cut you say of crossing the lake and onto the 73. I'm assuming this is just GPS that you have or is it an unofficial trail? I wouldn't mind trying this in the future. Thanks Mike
  9. Having rode it I would still take it. Overall small section of roads to deal with which I assume is the reason for closed. Just take it easy and stay to the side.
  10. Came down it today. Seems like some changes here an there. Had been groomed but still some areas that were a bit rough but overall still decent,
  11. Stay tuned but press conference this afternoon. Word is restaurants maybe open to 50% capacity next week as well some other things that likely we sleders won't care about
  12. I noticed that as well it doesn't or it didn't show closed now. Maybe the trucking is finished.
  13. About time you stopped being an armchair rider Enjoy
  14. I was planning this route back a week Sunday from Roberval. Hopefully some fresh snow flurries next Friday afternoon. to cover.
  15. We got delayed getting back to the truck last night. Left Ste Ann at 9pm. Was great no traffic to deal with all way home and no cops to ticket us. Crossed the ferry at 11;30. Given that the curfew was being lifted today I wasn't expecting a hard time.
  16. This past weekend Fer Cheval had Panini, & soup. Allowed 15 minutes inside to warm up and had the fire outside going Sunday stopped at Snowmasters favorite spot, Repos and all they offered was soup, pogo and various fries & poutine but were more friendly given extreme cold where one would consume it. Depanneur in Parent had selection and a few minutes inside Otherwise was gas & go and candy bar & Gatorade Trails were great but it was f... ing cold
  17. Thanks for the report. Heading to Grouin Saturday night from Ste Ann
  18. I haven't seen anything yet stopping you from coming yet. Travel advisory by the Feds but no closing of the borders. Appears for now they will try an limit gatherings sizes in doors etc. I only ride in a small group so I should be fine 🙂
  19. I have no concerns so long as we don’t have 100’s of ads in our feeds lol I also don’t think it will be an issue this winter for those that come for extended stays. While I don’t live in Quebec I live next door and it appears their are less hurdles and all should be good. We up here have very high vaccination rates now and I think it would be hard for them to lockdown unless it’s found these vaccinations are useless. Yes fuel is getting more expensive but I am sure it’s not just us. Also remember you get a 25% discount with the exchange. I’m thinking my biggest hurdle this winter will be preplanning well in advance for rooms. Last winter was tough at times and this I expect will be harder given the influx of new riders. The only thing that might help out is everyone’s new sleds being delayed 😀
  20. Reading on FB last night they have acknowledged the sled delay problem. I can't find the English version but it sounds like you can purchase a coupon and then apply this once you get the sled.
  21. Being on the border of Quebec I have been to some Quebec bars and no issues. Also not heard of any issues for getting tables at restaurants at this time. I would say most places have adapted for Covid practices. That being said I think you will need to book ahead more this year than past years. Partly for Covid and partly as last winter there was a lot of newbies running the trails and filling up the places. If you're doing day runs say like Mike out of RDL I don't think you will have an issue or for those running out of the Delta. But always subject to change. I think the so called 4th wave should be finished by xmas and so far Ontario numbers are holding as I believe 80% of eligible folks here are now vaccinated. Not sure % of Quebec but i believe there vaccination rates are strong as well. Unless a new variant comes along and dodges the vaccinations we should start being able to get on with life more. That's my .02 cent
  22. I do know I left the Universal in RDL had lunch at Moose Valley and then rode to Pointe de la Coix. If i recall at the time the trail wasn't shown on the map but it existed. This was just before Covid broke loose. Might be an option as well if you're not wanting to take a ride on the truck.
  23. Canadian Pacific Railway Announces New Guidelines for Traffic on Trails Along the Railway Terrebonne, August 29th, 2021 – The Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec as well as the clubs of the Eastern Townships and the Montérégie have just learned of the unilateral decision of Canadian Pacific to ban snowmobile traffic on the trails along the railroad formerly owned by MMA (CMQ). We have great difficulty in understanding this decision, which was made without consultation and which will have major consequences on the trail network and the regional economy, when, to our knowledge, no accidents have occurred in all the years that our vehicles have used these trails. We are currently evaluating all possible options to convince Canadian Pacific to return to a more reasonable position in order to find solutions that take into account the interests of all.
  24. Ordered a new Mach Z, first ski-doo since 2006 to see what I think. Excited about the new suspension feature. I may have also ordered a new Tcat with EPS but in case my wife troll's this I can't confirm or deny this. Having driven an Apex in 11 with the EPS i though that was the greatest option to sleds and with a bad back this may keep me going a bit longer.
  25. If that's Roberts I used to buy there when he had Yamaha and the dollar exchange wasn't so bad Can't say a Lynx is a sled for me though. New Mach is coming though 😎
