Maybe it's the angle of the picture but the rear skid does not look correct to me as mentioned before. I'd go through that machine with a fine toothed comb prior to departure.

Drove up from Vt to Forestville Sunday and met up with Roadrunner our friends from Maine .
Left this morning on rock hard  local trails towards Chenail du Nord  After a quick stop we're off to the Pipmuacan Reservoir. Dropped on down to pourvoirie Itouk to say hi to Luc    the place was rocking on a sunny Monday afternoon  !  Next stop La Chapelle then off to Km31 for the night  . 215 miles for the day
Was awesome this morning to see and chat with Trailblazer in Forestville and meeting Linda sled girl here at the 31 !
    Tomorrow,  we'll see .

I very much enjoy watching this race unfold.  The warm weather has caused a reroute from 3500km to 3150km.  If you want to watch this race you can download a link from the Cains Quest website and follow along the next four days. 50K to the winners.
    Enjoy

Several teams scratched today.  Team Maine was leading (they are past winners).  Looks like they had a wreck and pulled one sled in on a rope for a significant distance (if they pulled from where the app shows them slowing down its gotta be well over 100 km they had the sled on a tow rope).  Pretty neat to watch.  Gonna have to make the trip one of these years.  Would be neat to see them get a real big dump of snow mid race.  If that doesn't occur it looks like the race will go fast.  They ran over 600 kms in something like 10 hrs today.  That's not trail riding either.  These guys are a touch nuts running this at the speed they do.

Fontbrune grooms a short cut trail 35mi +-.  Just North of Fontbrune/Rabaska it is a right hand turn, signed and a nice run.

Although 22 has improved, I'd choose Windigo over it. JMO

That they are, forestry road's south west of Clova are being opened up to start cutting out the burnt trees that have salvageable timber. We came across plowed roads deep in above the Cabonga Reservoir. Claude from Le Pensive confirmed. But the logging activity near Clova trail (83) from what I saw was not burnt timber.

No grooming, pretty much single track from Le Pensive , logging and plowed the last 12 miles into Clova. The cut across from Lepine to Cheval was not broke.

I’ve been using a Garmin Tread 8” Overlander  for 1.5yrs. Has all the features that I’m interested in, inreach, tracking, SOS, texting, route planning on either trails or forestry roads etc.and many more. Very easy to view.
Was considering the 10” but am more than satisfied with the true 8”. It’s never froze up (always powered in the cradle) and goes inside whenever I’m at.

Took a trip up to paradise this weekend, we were blessed with great weather.  Saturday morning headed north out of town, skipped by Meekoos on the way through the Manzana and Normandie ZECs.  Pit stop at Lunic’s for petrol. We did not hit either of 100 lacs or Fer a Cheval because it was opening morning of moose by bow, so they are not really interested in hosting the SxS crew at this time, which I completely understand.  Took a shortcut up the road to Parent, back way onto 13 that follows the Bazin river.  Late lunch at the central in town.  You see more weird shit in Parent in the summer than you can imagine….We pushed onto Clova. In for the night by 4:30 with 220 miles for the day. Now let’s have some drinks and laughs over a great meal.
Sunday morning we hit the dusty trail down Lepine road.  I have not rode it from top to bottom since pre covid, holy shit they have built it up!   All new bridges and signage, not to mention the extra width, it’s basically a super highway almost all the way to Clova.  Petrol at the Pensive then back into the woods at the Petawaga.  Trailside snack at snake falls, then back to the truck before 3:30 with 160 miles on the dream-o-meter. Here are some pics.
