Mid Range reacted to Florida Snowman in Long-Awaited Season Opener 2022!
Day 8: Thursday Feb 10
Woke up to 28°F with 2 inches of fresh powder and snowing lightly. Can’t believe the temperatures we’re having this week! Had breakfast, saddled up the horses and pulled out at 8:30 AM. Took TQ93 & several green & orange local trails & meandered our way counterclockwise around Lac Saint-Jean. Trails were in excellent condition except for the expected TQ93 around Valinouet. Pulled into Hotel du Jardin in Saint-Felicien at 4:00 PM. Temperature was 35°F when we got here! Going to be a big temperature drop tonight so I hope all the groomers get out and make some white asphalt for tomorrow morning!

According to their website and from what Alliance du nord SC said back in november, you must bring your own sleeping bag and pillow if you want to sleep over.......not for me.

Mid Range reacted to Je me souviens in Mattawin-Clova-Mekoos
Left Marineau’s Saturday morning, headed to Clova via Kanawata. Laid fresh tracks down the river run on 360. Kanawata up to Casey was perfect as per usual. From Casey to Parent was loose snow., both sides of the driveway to Gouin looked freshly groomed as we drove by, stopped for gas in Parent then continued to Clova for the night. 300 miles.
Sunday we headed back to Parent from Clova, it had been groomed overnight. Heavy logging since my last pass through area in 2020. We stopped at Fer a Cheval for a coffee break. Then continued down 13 to SADL for gas and a snack, in for the night at Mekoos. 200 miles.
This morning we headed back to Mattawin via Manawan. Fresh groomed and temperature dropping. 200 miles for the day.
Noteworthy encounters included a Lynx on Saturday and a snow shoe hare being chased by a Fisher on Sunday, the woods were quiet today.
Here are some pics.
