  1. would not recommend eating there, unless you like fancy, expensive french restaurant type food. we stayed there once, wouldn't again. just my humble opinion.
  2. Hey! I've got a birthday coming up!! Greg?
  3. thanks for info Iceman. good to hear groomers hard at work. headed to hotel des 10 tomorrow thru lac eduard to roberval friday. have a grat week next week. Dave
  4. Looking to go up to gran mere thur pm to ride north to roberval friday, do you think groomer will have packed new snow before fri am?
  5. QUESTION; trak maps quebec has two data bases= transparent and rds; what is the difference? can't see any from one to other trying sitting still? thanks if you know.
  6. don't remember exact miles from st raymond to hi but it is a pretty easy day ride. may be 200 thru letape.
  7. stayed at HI last week-end New Year's Eve, still says HI on everything, business seemed as usual just signs in lobby saying daytime renovations occurring. Restaurant was open for breakfast, but dinner was limited menu in bar. Barmaid very pleasant and accomodating lady-good chicken wings. trail was groomed to door and locked parking for trucks and sleds still normal.
  8. gottas trailer to the mountain to see that. not like that out of town. rode from HI, not signed much or staked, one groomer bearking trail thru the sticks/rocks. atv trails better than sled trails. snowing now heading out the door. try yellow trails to skoobyraid today. valinuet yesterday. lower 93 very good uup by relais heavy trafiic. still very cold -20 c now. off we go!!
  9. thanks, Jack, Dana and I arrived Holiday Inn 5;30 today, sounds like cold for am. gonna ride out of HI towards Chappelle. Might sleep in a little tho!! -15 F overnight forecast low brrrr. wishing good riding to you.
  10. ram handlebar mount fits mc and sled. use on my harley in the summer, use the street data base for that!! amazon or ebay around 25 bucks. usually grouped with nuvi 550 for sale.
  11. purchased the trakmap sd card, have not used it yet, but it has much grreater quebec detail than sled gps sd card for the ne/quebec. going up thurs to ride mt valin area, will have more experience then. easy to use sd cards in nuvi, pop out battery plug in sd card, go into tools menu then check data base. nuvi 550 works well on sled and in the cold, ram mount and hard wired.
  12. that looks rough!! need all 12" of suspension to handle those moguls right there!
  13. I have the sledgps sd card for NE US and Quebec snowmobile trails from mountain dynamics. Detail is okay for US but limited for Quebec. Wondering if Trak map for snowmobile trails would be better. We don't ride off-trail, so not sure if the Trak topo map would be what we want for riding fcmg trails, ? Thoughts? Sounds like 93vwgti has experience with trak topo. The Garmin nuvi 550 gps mounted with a handlebar ram mount and hard wired seems to work well, just need better data base.
  14. we just stayed at holiday inn, not busy.....
  15. no groomers, we did not go towards onichiway, I had called them on thursday last, and they said only 6" of snow there, and sleds were not riding to there-but do not know first hand.
  16. In Vermont and Maine a landowner, private or public, is not liable for the use of their land by snowmobiles or atv's as long as they do not charge for the use of the land. If a fee is charged, then liability is assumed by the landowner. It would seem that this aspect of law would discourage landowners from wanting to collect a fee for trail use. Clubs assume this liability not the landowners.
  17. those are bug eyes. we have been using them for years, now. they work perfect. bugeyes.com hae them on all snow and atv helmets.
  18. iceman info 100 percent correct, it was thin by valin ski area and whooped, which was fun for the 10 miles or so. 93 down to 70 km from sacre coure was pretty darn good considering. from there down they were driving up in pu trucks on road/trail. up to pelchat trail was very good, and like dr coffin said a little thin and got very good again back to chaplle. Dana and I met a new friend, DR and was another bonus to the trip. enjoyed riding together. new skidoo 1200x was excellent in all regards, suspension felt almost plush in the bumps and no spine tinglers in deeper holes, steady and steerable. groomed trails will be very good we're certain, but pretty darn good in what we rode. there was snow drivng by letape, but bare ground everywhere, including about 10 kn up road to relais 31, where we parked, pretty icy up that end, but had snow. very pleased to be riding and glad we went up.
  19. thanks for info Groomer and Iceman. We are loaded and packed and headed up from Vermont in the morning. We're gonna ride somethin!
  20. what happened to relais chapelle info, pics?? thought maybe somethin new since last week-end. still planning a dash up to mt valin in am.
  21. have ssen pics of mt valin past weekend riding-thanksgiving weekend wondering if any grooming going on at all yet, or just riding roads? antsy to try out new sled r-motion! post if you know, thanks, Dave
  22. not aware of one, go south to st george bar 55 and another not nice place.
  23. Always good to read, just to run thru the foggy brain from time off...Markus and Greg won't brag themselves up, but they both ride thousands of miles every winter and have for many seasons. thanks for sending reminders to all of us.
