  1. hey Randy, in Fl. played golf today 80 degrees and sunny-no snow here!! long days, meetings start before seven and just back to room now, cause left right after dinner. Dana went for a little ride Mon nite-logging road dirt and trails not able to be groomed cause of warm I guess. We need some freezing temps!! later

  2. wow, you write like a magasine guy!! good job, buddy. talk soon.

  3. Looking forward to your take on this trip, Greg. Have fun and take it all in!!
  4. Hey Bruce, cool. Me and Dana, my girlfriend are going. trailering to RDL saturday-riding from there. 2 skidoo 600 black and yellow. call me if you like and chat. cell 860-919-6624. lunch meeting today 12-1;00 good other than that. later, Dave

  5. I started with garmin nuvi 550 and no knowledge of what to do or how to use. Still not very savy. downloads/updates overlays etc not second nature for me! puchased for $49.99 incl shipping northeast us and quebec from sledgps.com on sd card, plugged in and checked box. shows maps of trails and where i am. no topo, not tons of detail, but shows trail and works. at some point I would like to try to download something else to compare, but have not yet. if anyone has compared, would be curious about how much different. and/or better. sledgps.com is partnered with garmin to provide maps, it was simple and works for only 50 bucks. my 2 cents. headed to RDL to ride Gaspe Saturday!! woo hoo!!
  6. it's been a strange winter so far. happy for you that your home area is now having winter!! happy trails.
  7. Lots of fresh snow today along the northern vermont/eastern townships border - 10" . Should make for excellent conditions.
  8. interesting..................... could be, Randy!
  9. Hey Greg, the gloves look really good. The leather knuckles on top are raised up quite a bit, what is the purpose of that- besides the never gonna happen bar fight! Is it for wind deflection, impact protection? thanks, Dave
  10. Driftduster (Derby-Morgan) trails are almost perfect riding. Living on trail 105 in Holland, we see the groomer go past very often. Norton woods trails are still a little short on enough snow cover to fill in all the bumps, but it's snow, not dirt. We rode Friday from Holland thru Norton border crossing up the 521 to Coaticook TQ55 east to Sawyerville, North thru Thetford Mines 523 North to TQ35 - 537- TQ 5/75 to Bernieres south shore of Quebec City 231 miles rated good to very good, with places that were excellent. 8 hours on trails including lunch. We rode Saturday east on TQ5/75 to 547 south to TQ55 to 545 south to TQ75 North to Comfort Inn in St George, late start/early in 6 hours on trails 165 miles. A fair amount of snow, but a fair amount of traffic and stutter bumps. rated fair to good. Sunday back to Vermont-535 out of St George, excellent fresh groomed and low traffic, TQ 55 west to Weeden, almost all was good to very good, with only a few miles of bumpy wood sections. From Weeden south (west) on the TQ55 trails had gotton an inch or two of snow since up trip and had been groomed and traffic was low. 9:30 out of hotel, lunch in Weeden, gas and customs - home at 4:30 201 miles. Trails were even better on the way back. It is true enough that the first hundred miles into quebec is not all as good as once you get into snow country- but some of it is, and the rest is similar to Vermont, which is pretty good right now. While trails are not as wide open as RDL, snow cover is adequate in the lower coverage portions and as good as it gets in many. We like to ride out of home, it just seems kind of neat, to go and come back by sled. Ride Right and Make All the Corners!!
  11. nic pics-as usual for you, Groomer!!
  12. sounds like a challenging trip! hope gets better soon, we're hoping to make tq 5 loop end of Feb. thanks for info.
  13. Hey Greg, Heard you had a great ride this past week end St Raymond-Lac St Jean; HI-Clerrmont/back to HI- back to St Raymond. Randy said you guys found winter!!
  14. rode friday from Norton Vt to Lac Megantic-only good trail conditions were from Lapatrie to just before Woburn. saturday as stated above trail got good along 580 to Armstong clubhouse. North on 75 was good to just befors St George then poof no snow on powerline-but soldiered on with the four wheelers to 55 west toward Thetford mines-still no snow till about 15 miles past Notre Dam de Pins, then from about 25 miles out to Thetford got better.Sunday good out of thetford for about 15 miles towards Weeden then lack of snow and icy base made for hard on body and sled riding, got better close to US border Crossed back into Canaan and once out of town trails very good canaan to norton and then okay back to home in Holland. 150 miles a day; total only 450; with probably a hundred good riding, 100 terrible, and the rest everything in between. They need more snow everywhere except where the trails are over roads. powerlines were all horrible, like riding in the bumpy woods but straight forever. It's snowing and blowing now, maybe this storm will bring us into Winter conditions!
  15. thanks for update. it's time for riding and hard to make a plan!
  16. Could be, but usually due to elevation-thedford mines has snow when areas close, like st marie don't. Just wondering if there were other issues, like reluctant farmers or open waters. Too bad we coudn't ship the 20" of snow got in Ct up North where it would be appreciated!! later
  17. does anyone know why thedford mines area is showing closed? limited or fair all around there? thanks Dave
