timbo
Was up in St-Donat for a work weekend. Couple of positive signs for the upcoming snow season. The new guy who bought the Pot has finished-up his renovations to both the lodge and the motel units. He spent a few bucks on the place. It looks good. Not much help for sledders, but he constructed a whole lot of new deck space around the building for summertime outdoor dining, etc. Pretty nice. He is spending some money on trail signage and on snowmobile advertising. Should be back on the list as a sledders stop. Francine, the lady who was head waitress in Gaetan's day at the Pot, just bought the former "Hayes" restaurant in down-town St-Donat on rue Principale. She and her hubby (Luigi, the cook) are doing a great job there this summer, standing room only on friday and saturday nites. I ate there two nites......food and atmosphere are great. The new snomobile trail into center town St-Donat passes just behind her parking lot, beside the "Montainyard". Even though she doesn't offer rooms, she is installing a sled corral, with watchman, for evenings during sledding time this winter. If you eat at the Hayes, your stay in the corral is free. If you want to amble somewhere else downtown to eat or amuse yourself, you can park your sled in her corral for a small hourly rate. The new restaurant is called "Chez Mandy".
