Once again the AdmdQ is responding to another threat to our sport. With facts and figures the Quebec association of snowmobiliers is defending our sport from those who would wish us gone.

The AdmdQ has issued a response to the letter posted earlier regarding the desired closing of trails in the parc mont valin area of petite sejours and the hutte. When time permits I will translate and post the AdmdQ response.

In the meantime if you are not a member /supporter of the AdmdQ and its mission, make today the day. Here is the link for more information. They have made significant effort in translating the site into english specifically for American snowmobiliers

http://www.admdq.org/

The AdmdQ is and organised and effective snomobiliers voice and the voice needs to get louder through increased membership. The FCMQ which oversees the trail pass memberships that we buy does not function in this same capacity. Remember the UPA? AdmdQ was there also. This organisation desrves our continued support

This is a translated verison of the AdmdQ reponse

An open letter from the Association of Snowmobile du Québec (AdmdQ) in response to statements by Mr Francis Guillot, director of the Parc National des Monts in The Daily Journal

Mr. Guillot, your recent statements in the Daily is not without letting ourselves be amazed. When declaring entre-autre that, "the economic impact of snowmobiling in the Parc des Monts is virtually nil 'that statement can not remain without response on our part. If your viewpoint, the impact of snowmobiling is almost nil in the park des Monts Valin, we bring it to your attention the economic impact of snowmobiling on your entire region and the lives of your fellow citizens who live Product of the snowmobile. Le Parc des Monts Valin is probably triggered by the impact of snowmobilers on your region.

Tourism Quebec, an organization that represents for you undoubtedly a benchmark for tourism, says in a study in 2006 that produced the snowmobile industry in Quebec represents a turnover of the order of 723 M $ an annual basis and that the Saguenay receives 27% of the total clientele who is living with at least one night and 18% of excursionists for a day.

Le Parc des Monts Valin represents a major appeal for snowmobilers in Quebec, thanks to a snow and exceptional climatic conditions, your region benefits from economics of unquestionable importance. Your recent statements have certainly caused a surprise and an uneasiness on the part of agency as Promotion Saguenay who has worked tirelessly to promote snowmobiling in your area, which mentions that the Monts Valin is one of the most territories snowmobiler frequented Quebecers.

In 2006, the president of the Regional Tourist Association, Mr Robert Bilodeau, and stated that "we cite the snowmobile produces annually 54 million in economic benefits to our region. It is a very important economic activity that allows thousands of tourists from Quebec and elsewhere to discover the Saguenay. "

The regional conference of elected Jean also recognizes. And rightly so, the importance of the presence of snowmobilers in your area. It is enough to read the memorandum submitted by them in 2006 under the Committee on Transport and the Environment in connection with public hearings following the filing of a guidance document on off-road vehicles to understand the importance.

We would have liked to hear you say in the Daily what is the economic contribution of éco-touristes in the park Valin Mountains in winter. It would also have been interesting to know the number of tourists visiting the park during the winter. This would have the merit of making weight against your statement to the effect that the impact of snowmobiling is almost nil in the park des Monts Valin.

You talk about cohabitation and coexistence in fact this is essential in order to ensure balanced development of various winter activities, but it is surely more constructive to acknowledge the impact of snowmobilers on your region rather than deny this reality in order to promote your interest development of Ecotourism.

You suggest to divert the existing trails and even participate in the maintenance of these diverted the snowmobile. We hope that your statements are supported budgetary allocations required for this purpose and that you already have the necessary government support so that they can realize your intentions. Hopefully that snowmobile clubs in your area are in accord with your vision and you have about your intentions.

Snowmobilers have nothing against Quebec Ecotourism because it is an activity that deserves to be developed, but we are however in favor of a harmonious development of all winter recreational activities. We are convinced that this must be done without doing so at the expense of an activity that makes you one of the jewels of the practice of snowmobiles in Quebec.

I remain convinced that an intervenor yourself importance in the field of tourism in your area, you will take into account the views of snowmobilers in Quebec and explore constructive and sustainable solutions.

Patrick Boucher

By the time most of us learn of problems it is to late to organize and effectivly respond. We only come in, in time for piss, moan and lose.

We really need an articulate and organized voice on stand by, ready to respond to negative issues quickly. Because of the AdmdQ stucture of having directers thoughout the many regions of Quebec, they are able to have ears to the ground and be proactive in many cases that we never even hear of.

In this particual matter, of the trail in the area of the Hutte, it appears that the immediate threat is successfully being overcome, but this and other threats to our sport will continue to pop up.

Here's what it means

The practice of snowmobiles will continue without changes this winter in the Parc National des Monts. An official of the MRC Fjord, Jean-Marie Claveau, confirmed that the management of the park and the club Caribou-Conscrit agreed this week, in a meeting convened by the MRC, not to change to the usual practice for the upcoming season. The official believes that it is necessary to clarify some misunderstandings between snowmobilers and outdoor enthusiasts. Mr. Claveau added that the two sides will continue discussions in December to find long-term solutions.

A push here and a poke there, sure can help when issues arise. Join the AdmdQ
