gizz
Anyone know what the story is with Richard and the Mekinac for the upcoming season? Really liked starting and ending at that place. Was VERY MUCH CLOSED last season when we passed through.
Florida Snowman
Try Richard at aubergemekinac@globetrotter.net or his cell at 514-219-2010 See if you can get any information. I know he was closed all year last year. We used to leave out of his place for many years. You could also leave out of Edgar's place Auberge Le Montagnard which is @ 3 miles north on the 155. Florida Snowman
What a sad loss. Edgar was a very nice man & a great host. I wish him well. Wonder if he moved back to Switzerland. Lot's of great memories in that Auberge. Hope it gets rebuilt but I doubt it will. Tough business.

Florida Snowman
Did Richard sell the place or does he still own it?
Jackstraw
I know Richard was going through a divorce. I beleive his wife ran the kitchen there. That's what he told me when we where last there 2 years ago. And the kitchen was closed then.
iceman
Great Spot there. Sorry to hear its closed. I know winters have been tough for sure. There is also a big project starting to dredge the river so you will be able to boat all the way to La Tuque in summer. Should only help to make the place more valuable for sure. I like Richard for sure a good man always going the extra mile for sure.
Florida Snowman
Does Richard still live in the house accross the street from the Auberge?
iceman
Not sure on that. Gonna see if I can catch up with him. Is the cell number still a good one for him?
gizz
The reply was a very short "the place is closed". I didn't feel like pressing him for any more information. I figured he was entitled to his privacy and i appreciated at least the reply he gave me. If he does decide to elaborate please fill us in, that was a great spot. scorpionbowl
Wow, I didn't know the montagnard burned down. The food was horrible, but a great place. We need that dumb-ass Hosana place to burn down so we can get the trail back...

Florida Snowman
The Hosanna owner is the guy who originally built the Montagnard. Maybe he still owned it & leased it to Edgar. I know you loved the food there Gary!!

I know you loved the food there Gary!! Yes Michele and his son. He took us for rides in his Snow Scoot a few times. We used to stay in his cabins up on the mountain. Used to be a great place to start from.
PLAYHARD
That cat outside Montagnard was pretty smart. Didn't take long to realize the RX1 pipes kept the seat warm!... No trace the next morning. But we had a gift from above...
Florida Snowman
I remember that cat well. Definately an independent creature. Loved to bite hands!
PLAYHARD
Unlike that FIERCE fufu dog at Kanawata who HATED me, I had decent luck with the feline @ Edgars...
iceman
Yes, the fierce and ferocious Gizmo. Half pitbull I think, or at least he thinks.
