lindasledgirl
Just watching this on CNN. This is just a very sad and sick world. My thoughts were immediately that I have made new friends in here (QR) from New Jersey and Connecticut and I thought of you right away. My sincere condolences go out to these people. How will the families and friends ever get through this? The doctor that just spoke said that someone close to this 24 year old, must have known he wasn't right. How sad. iceman
Absolutely Tragic. After 9/11 billions were spent on beefed up airport security and the TSA. To search for terrorists (and frisking little children and old ladies). Time to step up school security for real. Yes its sad but needed. With the world we live in today. At least one armed guard per school. Probably plenty of volunteers in the form of parents or Granparents interested in being involved to help keep it affordable, then again what price can you put on childrens security and safety? Too many out there not wrapped too tight and yes maybe the shooter could shoot the guard, nothing is guaranteed. How about arming the principals of these schools too and training them in firearms. Its a start. Guns don't kill people. People do. Usually those who are a few sandwiches short of a picnic, so it seems in these mass shootings anyway. Either way it is tragic and I pray for all those affected Families, First Responders and Police.
smclelan
It is simply hard to believe a person could do such a thing. My thoughts and prayers to all that have been effected by this terrible event.
PLAYHARD
F*cking warped bastards playing too many shooter video games which don't exactly build a sense of consequences. Real kids with real parents teaching real values with real guns don't go apesh*t on innocents. And too many "reality" shows that sensationalize creeps for bad behavior. Freaky values being handed down to misguided youth who think it's cool to be famous regardless of why. They need to put down the X-Box and go sledding with their families!! Peace to the many suffering tonight,

gizz
Playhard, you pretty much summed up everything i was thinking. This whole thing actually makes me sick to my stomach. I can't even imagine what that must be like. Without getting into any arguments or pissing matches i'll just add that when i went to school as a yound kid, when i got out of line i got "cracked"...plain and simple. Looking back at it i deserved every paddling, spanking, you name it. I was not a bad kid but if my parents or principal or teachers noticed me going down the wrong path they would and could immediately correct it without ramifications. Now-a-days there's too much "feel good" stuff and dicipline is not allowed by parents or guardians without fear of being sued. I think we need to get back to that a little more instead of pumping the kids full of meds....Again this is my opinion and nothing more. God rest the poor souls of those involved in yesterdays massacre.

actionjack
Well said by Playhard. Movies and TV don't help either. Almost all prime time dramas are about murder in some way.

PLAYHARD
The following was read at one of the Newtown children's funerals. Regardless of religion it can make folks feel a little better and help the healing process: Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38, When 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate. Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air. They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there. They were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say. They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day. "Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse. "This is heaven." declared a small boy. "We're spending Christmas at God's house." When what to their wondering eyes did appear, But Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near. He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same. Then He opened His arms and He called them by name, And in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring. Those children all flew into the arms of their King, And as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace, One small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face. And as if He could read all the questions she had, He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of Mom and Dad." Then He looked down on earth, the world far below, He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe. Then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand, "Let My power and presence re-enter this land!" "May this country be delivered from the hands of fools." "I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!" Then He and the children stood up without a sound. "Come now my children, let me show you around." Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran. All displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can. And I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight, "In the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."
