Thanks for the info. Will stay out of town. Looks like more snow today. Going up tuesday probably staying at Hotel Bernieres. Sounds like riding to Cabano is the better joice. Anyone ever stay at Sante Plein Air in Pohenegamook ?

We stayed at Sante Plein Air back in 08. We stayed in a lodge with a nice clean room. They have several . The tv was in a common area with a wood burning stove. They have a cafeteria style restaurant the food was good. There is an indoor pool. At dusk you can see the herd of deer come and feed. We had a nice stay. It was listed as secure parking. I left my truck and trailer for 9 days.

Yes, I have stayed there - but it was several yrs. ago. Nice place, sort of a resort. They took good care of us as we arrived after dinner so they made us some sandwiches and such. Bent over backwards to be sure we had enough to eat.

In Cabano, I would recommend the Motel Royal.

We left the Beauceville Clubhouse this afternooon and I am in Montmagny now and Mikerider`s description is accurate for here. I think we will be heading to Amqui. Conditions are better than I expected. The snow that came yesterday helped. TQ5 was being groomed tonight as we came in and I would rate the 90+ miles from Beauceville to here as 8+ overall.

Thanks for update, we will be in Montmagny Sunday night.

Hi, I was in Pohenegamook last weekend. I stayed @ at a motel @ the very bottom of the lake (Escort) right across the street from the train bridge underpass. The stakes on the lake go right through his yard. He gave us (3) all our own rooms. clean + safe, He parks his own sled outside. Theres a little bar and they serve a very good breakfest. He's the vice pres of the club and a FUN guy. They call him Taz. I cant find his card or name @ the moment. Ill keep looking,,, but its arbarge something. Its on the local map. We met him @ the Pohenegamook clubhouse over a black label.

Yes Sir. Lake stakes south bring you to the door, right on the shore, it will be on your right. I Went to Plen Air to check it out. It was in the dark when we pulled in. Plein Air is all lit up with yellow lites that you can see from the lake @ night, looks like a resort. It was, or was going to be full of around 150 politicians coming in for something.

I just posted in Bas St Laurent regarding conditions from RDL to Bernieres.

Basically 5 up in the mountains from RDL to Montmagny was very good today. 5 in the lowlands from Montmagny to Motel Bernieres was very soft today. The cooler temps and the trees in the mountains are protecting the snow a lot better than the open fields in the lowlands.

Yes, Montmagny is better but all bad near rdl and north on 5. We took 85 south to Cabano which was much better, but don't know how much longer the snow will last, going fast,

Would Montmagny be a better starting point then bernieres in St Nick ? Does anyone have a trail report From RDL to Rimouski ?

Hi Gerg,

I'm not up there now. We're back in CT. I agree that Montmagny would be a better starting point than Bernieres. I didn't go past RDL so I don't know the conditions further out.

Try to ride in the mountains. The snow will last longer at the higher elevations.

I was speaking to three guys we met at RDL that happened to be from Wallingford, CT. They were out in the Gaspe area and said there was a lot of snow out there. But again, they are predicting mild temps.

Just back to Hotel Universal in RDL, 180 awesome miles today, let me correct that 166 awesome miles, the first seven miles from hotel is crap, once on the 85, again today fresh grooming totally awesome, you just need to get inland 10 miles and ALL is good. The people at the Club Motoneige Les Aventuriers are going to let me park my truck and trailer there to ride the next 2 days (that is where things get good) so we will just take a short drive in truck from hotel and all smiles

Thanks for the reply Jack. We decided not to go with the mild temps. Still trying to go somewhere next week but the temps don't look any better. Hoping weather will change.

Greg

I thought it should be Greg and not Gerg. Keep watching the weather and reading the posts. Another website I use is

It shows the snow depth for the Northern Hemisphere. Its pretty cool! :clapping:

I was trying to think of a place you could start from besides the hotel. Just make sure everything that is being left overnight is secure. Not riding in the dirt every morning and night would be great.;
