Andyman
I see on the trail condition page for the Abitibi that the 83 is closed for an indefinite period. Is this due to the ice storm? Thanks Andy
Pipeman
I thought it was all snow through that area?
lindasledgirl
Andy I am not sure where you see that, I looked it has 2 stars, Trail 63 at Joncas is closed, but looks like 83 is open. Maybe there is a different part closed? Linda
Andyman
http://www.abitibi-temiscamingue-tourism.org/snowmobile/trails-condition/ This is the link to the Abitibi trail condition website. TQ83 toward Balbuzard is on page 3. I will try to cut and paste but the format most likely will be messy. gizz
Wow, that does show it closed. That would make it tough getting between east and west Somebody up that way should know. What about the folks at Tamarac?

Pipeman
If you use the Sled Magazine.com which is where FCMQ redirects you it states the 83 from Senneterre to Balbuzard "lack of snow, trails were packed but not opened. So who knows, If I get a chance i'll call Peter at Fallion Thursday and ask him. Edited December 25, 2013 by Pipeman
iceman
There is for sure not as much snow there I believe as other areas,
Pipeman
sled magazine shows the 83 open to Senneterre then fair conditions except up the 93 to LSQ which it reports as good. Most of Abitibi is lacking snow currently

iceman
Today Jan 7th still closed for an indefinite period. Does anyone know what is going on??? Andy Here's the deal. I just hung up from Peter at Lac Fallon.TQ83 to Seneterre yes closed, they surfaced the first run and discovered a giant washout 6' deep 10' across. The are supposed to send an excavator in to fix it he said he hopes this week. Not sure. Plenty of snow there he says. TQ 83 Balbazard to Clova closed too. They have 25KM plowed thru there for logging. He has not spoken to Domenic in Clova but says they were supposed to be done logging and the surfacer will do what it can. No word on that yet.
