Thank you for posting the links Mark.

Is anything similar available for the atv trails?

I have an old Magellan GPS that I use with my Raptor during the summer and fall months. Could add the map to the nuvi and use that instead.

Sorry for these silly questions but I am a technology moron.

1. I have a GARMIN Nuvi. Which app do I choose? I assume I do it through a PC and therefore choose the PC app?

2. Do I delete my old maps?

3. Will I then lose saved waypoints?

Thanks again for the help.

Shane

Tried the " for pc " and getting message "404 file not found"

Tried Tilou's " pour les pc " and getting " we're sorry, but we can't preview zip files"

Am I doing something wrong? from everyone's response the process seems so simple.

Thank you, MrGutz. Downloaded the file and had no issues after installing Garmin Mapsource.

Reformatted my hard drive after number of files were damaged and had to reinstall Garmin Mapsource. Latest version from Garmin would only install with a qualifying product. Recall I had topo 2008 kicking around and installed that first. No problems after that.

Mapsource uploaded V8 to the Nuvi 550, but deleted the earlier versions. Strange.

Also, for some reason the maps looked like they were missing alot of the interconnecting trails (local ones specifically). Then realized my resolution was only set to medium. Changed to highest and all the trails appear. I'm good to go.

JG,

Followed the PDFs located in the default installation directory (C:\Program Files\Sentiers Motoneige 2016 v8.00) and had no issues.

Can find mapsource here: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209

Believe Garmin Basecamp is functional on systems running newer versions of windows.

Link is here: http://www.garmin.com/en-US/shop/downloads/basecamp

Has anyone used basecamp and did you have any problems? Thinking of upgrading.

What is the best gps to get for my 2016 ski doo blizzard 20th the gps glove box ext. Can we use one that you would get at best buy that was made for a car, or do we have to get some thing special because of the cold. I see that you can wire the gps right to the sled. Skidoo says the montana but it is 700.00. There must be something with a bigger screen that can be used,,, anybody have some good ideas.

If you can find one I got my Garmin Montana 600 for $330. The 610 replaces it and is much more expensive. If you want to go cheap you can get a used Nuvi on eBay or a new Nuvi at Best Buy. A Nuvi is not a full "mapping" GPS and has some limitations compared to a mapping GPS. Many users don't mind limited Waypoint and Track Log features using Nuvis. I use my GPSr around water too so waterproof is important to me. There are several threads on HCS about new GPS users working though the kinks with a Nuvis and track logs and routing on sleds. Some Nuvis combined with some maps do not work well with Track Logs.

I just bought a Montana 680T last week, I must say for the money 779.00 CDN + 15% of tax im not impressed, not even a North American road map on it, there is a Topo but for US only, useless if sold in Canada, so basically another 250$$$ for a North American and snowmobile map to be loaded. It's going back to the store, my Nuvi 550 is much less complicated to use and Tulu and Biscuit maps can be loaded much easier, had no success loading with the Montana.
