Here an other last one report! hoping you will enjoy...

We wanted Krikri and I having a good last ride starting from home without touching the trailer. We were alone without partners and it is in these moments that we make crazy plan because there’s nobody to tell us that it is too much ... so here is the 382 miles trail path we had ride last Saturday.

Despite the rain we had at home on Friday, there was more snow after than before and immediately beyond the line of mountains in St-Damien north of St- Gabriel de Brandon, it was snow only. Given that it has not frozen during the night, no club on our path had groomed Friday night but most probably a couple of days before because there was no bumps apart from a couple of short sections on the return in the south.

I slightly modified my usual report concept and keep it lighter for me by just putting the pictures I like the most among those that we took on Saturday ...

Here on the old railway just south of St-Gabriel de Brandon

Unfortunately the sky remained cloudy much of the day , not the best for pics but it was really beautiful. Here north of St-Damien in the mountains just before Pourvoirie St-Damien

Here #345 midway towards the new Mattawin river bridge

I know I've already said that I like rivers ... one of my favorite spot .

Here the first 6 miles from the north entrance of the Zec (from the usually plowed road) also been plowed this last week

At Marineau we knew that it was to redo the deck of a bridge over the road. The work is supposed to be done this week and they are supposed to bring back the snow on the road to keep snowmobile access. If you need more details call directly to Marineau to know how it goes on this side

Here the classical point of view I do not get tired to look at

Few hundred meters before arriving at Marineau .

We arrived around 1:00 p.m. ... very few sleds ... it was not heavier than that earlier in the day

Back on the trails after dinner, we had the chance to get some sunshine

Here's the snowy landscape on the local path to the St-Maurice River

As I indicated at the beginning of my report, trails were beautiful and winter conditions everywhere. Here, the first signs of spring on the #3 in St-Etienne along the #55 highway closer to St-Laurence river

DSC04060_zpsd422292d.jpg

To stay a little further north and go to see the falls we forked the #63 instead of #3

Magnan Falls in Charette

It 's ben so cold this year that the pot near the bridge usually at clear water is now completely frozen

The site is very nice

DSC04076_zpsd8137ddb.jpg

We then joined the #3 and continued westward. Good conditions but significantly slushy ...

We were back on the #3 around ten minutes from home a little past 6:00 p.m. . Not satiated at all and knowing that it was our last ride from home we continued on the #3 toward L’Assomption. Conditions changed radically progressing westward and several earth spots began to come out... was really the end on that side ... This club had started to remove the signs.

Here close to L’Assomption not far from Montreal

DSC04100_zpsd00747e6.jpg

It was not very nice to the ground but in the sky, very beautiful ...

DSC04097_zps93499d6a.jpg

We do not see much on the photo but there was a rainbow above the wood right in the photo

DSC04098_zps5f8d37f3.jpg

It was too late for the pics but we continued our path, had our supper on the ride and finally been back home around 10:15p.m. now satisfied with 382miles on the dreammeter... I swear you we slept very well after that!

To conclude, unfortunately with the april beginning we are getting at the end for many snowmobile clubs here in the area. Some are still operating but the trail network started to breakup even there is still plenty snow in most areas. The alliance du nord club are still in operation and this area would probably be in the best spot actually...

Riding still possible but had to do your homeworks before your rides... some details here...

Hoping you enjoyed...
