A 27 km snowmobile trail will provide a new access to the trail network of the Club of the Outback. The loss of a right in the Lac-Beauport sector forced the club officials to develop this alternative path.

The project required two years of negotiations and will be implemented in two phases. The first will be completed in time for the 2015-2016 season and will offer fans access to Stoneham. Parking lots and piers will be built for snowmobilers.

A traffic corridor will also be added to give access to accommodation and food services in the tourist resort.

Gabriel Lemieux, president of the Association of Snowmobile Inland, believes that this new offer will attract new followers.

"Elsewhere, I could think of Manoir Richelieu and the ski resort Valinouët in the corner of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, which offer skiers and snowmobilers full access to distinctive services, but the region is n ' was not it. "

The project is in collaboration with Stoneham.

A new snowmobile trail with a length of 10 km will connect the tourist resort north of Stoneham Relay, starting this winter. This initiative is applauded by the industry stakeholders given the economic impact of this industry.

Year after year, nearly $ 140 million injected into the economy of the Quebec City region by the snowmobile industry.

"This new trail comes enhance the winter tourism and economic offer. The snowmobilers will discover spectacular scenery by traversing this immense territory, "said Robert Miller, Mayor of Stoneham.

This project stems from a loss of rights of way in the Lac-Beauport sector, there are two years. To overcome this difficulty, the Snowmobilers Association of Inland (AMAP) made construct a 10 km trail that will connect the Stoneham ski resort and the Northern Relay. The second phase, to be conducted next year, provides for the addition of this new 17 km section to the path of Sagamité for a total of 27 km.

"We lost rights of way. So we worked hard to make a bypass path that will give new access to the Stoneham resort, "added Gabriel Lemieux, President of AMAP.

An important part of this new section passes under the lines of high voltage Hydro-Québec and the Quebec Land Company Forestlands. Once all of the 27 km will be built, snowmobilers in the western sector of the city of Quebec will not have to make a long detour to the Trans-Québec trail until 369, north of Seigneuriale street to access the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve. They may do so directly via the path 304.

Stoneham Mountain resort sees the arrival of this new clientele of a very good eye. A landing stage will be reserved for snowmobilers who will enjoy at their leisure all the resort facilities.

Members of Chauveau and Montmorency, Véronyque Tremblay and Raymond Bernier, have each contributed $ 1,000 through the program to support voluntary action. The Quebec government has also committed to provide $ 4,000 to support this initiative.

The economic impact of snowmobiling in Quebec amounted to $ 2 billion over a period of about ten weeks.
