Snowmobilers, ATV riders, cyclists and pedestrians can cross the river Sainte-Anne on a new "multifunctional gateway" in Saint-Raymond in 2015. Snowmobile Club St-Raymond, prime contractor of the project of $ 1 million, was awarded a grant of $ 250,000 from the Ministry of Transport of Quebec for the completion of the structure. The member for Portneuf Michel Matte, the "multifunctional gateway" will become an essential good for Saint-Raymond and a major asset for Portneuf. "The bridge will extend the six-week snowmobile season," he said.

Mr. Matte argued that the subsidy gives the starting shot for the project on the table for several years. According to John Mainguy, Snowmobile Club, financing is almost complete. The bridge with a length of sixty meters will be located about one kilometer upstream from the pier and town center. The City bought the waterfront land for access to the bridge on either side of the Sainte-Anne River at a cost of $ 65,000. Snowmobilers borrow for several years an ice bridge linking the provincial trail # 23 to the south and north of the St. Anne. The gateway to avoid being Mother Nature thank you, according to the club's leaders.

The bridge can be used by snowmobilers, ATV riders, cyclists and pedestrians. It will be wide enough to allow passage of resurfacing, according to Mr. Mainguy. Officials also ensure that it will be high enough not to be affected by river floods and ice. The mayor of Saint-Raymond, Daniel Dion, said that this is a regional, not just local project. He stressed that the structure will help connect Portneuf The Step by provincial ATV trail. The gateway will extend the snowmobile season six weeks.

The President of the Club Quad Nature, Jacques Santerre, said Saint-Raymond is a crucial point for ATV riders. The ATV Club has 900 members.

The structure will be the center of other projects, according to Councilman Benoît Voyer. Cycling routes and facilities in the area are considered among others.

Great news. It is awesome to see the cooperation in Quebec for off road enthusiasts. Wish it were the same here in NY!

Hi Guys,

Just so you know, this is not a bridge for riviere St-Anne, but actually a bridge for Riviere du Gouffre, in Baie-Saint-Paul, 1.5 hours north east of St-Anne on Hwy #3. Built by the Sapin d'or Club

St-Anne river still has no bridge and is causing troubles this spring.

The Riviere du gouffre cost upwards of 800 000$ (mainly public money) and took 9-10 years to come to fruition. An other large bridge on the Montmorency river was built 10 years ago west of the St-Anne in Quebec city.

Welcome to Quebec

Yes the bridge this thread is referring to is crossing the river Ste-Anne in St Raymond just north of the Hotel Roquemont. It was completed in February.

Jack & Sandi

Crossed this new bridge on March 10th. Great job getting it completed & installed. Was needed desperately for a long long time. Great for Saint-Raymond departures early & late in the season.
