Day 1

Left Baie-Saint-Paul 7:15am under clear blue skies & temp of 1*F. Perfect blue jay day for a power ride! Rode 378 to TQ3 east. Took the ferry to Tadousac. Took gas & continued on TQ3 to Sacre-Coeur. Took TQ93 & ripped up to KM31 & took gas. Continued to Shipshaw & crossed the Saguenay for the second time today. Gassed up in Jonquiere & continued on TQ83 to Pourvoire du Lac Moreau for the night. Fantastic day of riding!

350 miles & in by 7:00pm, That says it all for the trail conditions! Get up here & ride!

Day 2

Left Lac Moreau at 8:30am since they don't serve breakfast until 7:30am. Took LT / TQ83 / 383 / 368 / TQ23 & went to see the new building at Apica. Beautiful new building & brand new gas tank! Being a Saturday the place was a NYC zoo as expected. All trails were excellent EXCEPT TQ 23. It needs 12" of new snow to take it up to Quebec standards. Had intentions of going down to L'Etape & looping up the dotted red non-maintained snowmobile trail back up to Lac Moreau for the night. That plan changed with the lousy conditions on TQ23. We decided to return the same way we came & got back to Lac Moreau at 4:00pm. Excellent day of riding except that 15 miles of TQ23 which we got to do twice. If you've never been to Lac Moreau make sure you get there. I've been lucky to have gotten there 4-5 nights since the new log cabin was built. The old one had a fire in 2001 & was completely destroyed. The current new building was completed in 2002. It sits at the top of the Haute Gorges. Jack Tremblay & his brother Noel Tremblay own the Pourvoirie & do a wonderful job. The food is top notch & all the staff are extremely friendly & accomodating.

240 miles for the day.

Day 3

Woke up to 19*F. About 4" of new Utah powder on the ground & still snowing nicely! Saddled up the ponies & left at 8:30am. Blew down a perfectly groomed TQ83 to TQ3 & 377 down to Hotel Baie-Saint-Paul where the trucks were parked. The skies cleared when we got to TQ3 & another IB day was upon us! Loaded up the sleds & headed back west on the black trail (intentionally!) to Quebec City & crossed the Fleuve to the southern shore & then headed east to RDL for the night. About 8" of new snow fell last night in RDL. Now we have 5 days to play in the Gaspesie!!!

Pics to follow. Very slow on the uploading. Technical issues on the QR side?

110 miles on the white trail.

187 miles on the black trail.

Great report Tom, looking forward to more. Your timing is good, I see all trails in the Gaspesie are now open.

You got that right Steven! We've been watching every possible source for reporting available hence the decision to hit the Bas Saint Laurent & Gaspesie regions now. I feel like a kid in a candy shop!
