We'll have a trip booked for Gaspe starting February 28th for 6 days. By the sounds of it not looking good on north shore. I was wondering if someone could offer assistance in putting together a plan b incase I have to bail on Gaspe. We would be riding for 6 days. Sunday to Friday. I live in buffalo NY so I'd like to keep starting point under 10 hour drive max. We're looking at 175 to 200 miles a day. Looking for nice accommodations nice scenery with mix of trails. Thank you again. Also help to mention this will be a saddlebag trip. This is our first trip to Quebec really hoping the Gaspe comes through but after this winter..

The C A's and South side of Gaspésie might work for you. Also check regional forums to get on the ground reports, like daily...

Lac St Jean area is great. I was just thre last week. You can do 200 + mile loops easy from alma (hotel universal) or Delta hotel in Jonquire. You could Ride to Chibougamau 1 day and back the next. We rode from Alma to Sacre-Coeur on day, Sacre-Coeur to Petit Saguenay back down to La Malbie (casino area) Then quebec or st Raymond next day, then back up to Saguenay area. Like I say there is a lot of area up there north of the River to explore day loops. It is a long haul up there but this year its worth it. Two of my friends rode from Mount Laurier to Saguenay and met us in Saguenay on 2/6/16 and they returned 2/13/16. Hope this helps.

You could follow our loop if you want, or modify it slightly. I posted it under "Ride Report 2/5 to 2/12". We started in Mont Laurier - less windshield time and more riding. About 1500 miles of riding. I can give you more details if you need them. I would recommend 5 of the 6 places we stayed.

Ok so I'm checking out the maps now... Liv4sno are you guys doing saddlebag riding or staying put for day trips? I was reading over your travels banker, sounds like a sweet trip but I feel it would be biting off a little to much. It's just me and wife and we both love riding but were looking for a little less miles daily. I'm trying to follow your loop around on provincial map to see if I can modify. Thanks again for input here. I'm new to site and Quebec riding so help is much appreciated

Is mont valin worth looking into putting into my itinerary?

Dynomite this is a no brainer. Go West young man. Drive to Temiscaming and leave from there and tour the Abitibi easily the best trails in Quebec especially for a saddlebag trip. Try to hit the Amosphere for an overnight. Camps Ronada is a nice place to stay as well Forestel if staying in Val D' Or. Do the run up to Matagami and be sure to hit some of the orange trails up around LaSarre. On the way back head down 386 to 63 then back and maybe stay at LeBannik

All good advice from viper2. We did the western loop last year. We really liked Trout Lake (this year), and Forestel is always good. You could definitely make a nice loop on the west side and may save you some driving coming from Buffalo.

X2 not a far ride from Buffalo . Book into La Bannik leave your truck and trailer and boogie on. I had a report last week "boys are in the west" . All very doable !

Great guys! I will do some planning on that today in the abitibi region and report back to see if everything sounds doable. I've hueard these are some very fast trails in this region. Sounds similar to northern Ontario. Is there decent scenery as well? That's they I'm really bummed about possibly cancelling Gaspe, but if you guys recommend touring this region second I will follow your lead!

Welcome to QuebecRider Dynomite. Both Abitibi and Lac St Jean are great choices this year especially. If you haven't been to either one I would lean toward Abitibi because it is closer to Buffalo.

We ride as a couple and have done that area but not this year. Plenty of nice places to stay, good food and great trails. Day trips or loops are fine there. Big Note: Get on the FCMQ website, English, Interactive Map. Click on the map and in the top right click on services then click on Delai de Surfacage. Study the trail map and what was groomed and when it was groomed. This will keep your wife happy if she likes smooth trails. The map isn't perfect but it sure does help.

Happy riding wherever you pick. You won't be disappointed with a little homework.

Last we took a newbie with us that has only ever ridden northern Ontario, he had never been to Quebec. Needless to say next year he is buying a Quebec pass . He loved it! One thing about booking that week of your trip is that it is spring break for Quebec schools so some places might be a little harder to get into on the weekends . Good luck and enjoy!

All conditions look good as of now, at this point guys I'm planing on starting out at la bannik and heading to la Sarre for first night at hotel repos. Next plan on heading to Amos down 93 and then up to matagami 396 and staying the night at hotel Matagami. Following day going to shoot down to senneterre. At this point I'm at a crossroads. I have three full days of riding left. Not sure if I should head east 83 or south 386. Wouldent be crazy to have a down day in there. Wouldent mind a nice cabin with hot tub as well.
