JG, just curious, what's the reason for red painted lines on wood?

bonsoir neksledr!!!

well , honestly , i have a little memory blank ..

i think they measure the diameter of the log and an average....

i ll let my friend from ns reply to that ...he s the guru about that !!!

for me ...every time i see that ...first thing coming to mind....they played tic-tac-to !!!

Nice looking piles of wood!  Would like to have a couple of them in the yard of the sawmill I work for.

I will let JG answer for sure but I would guess the red paint signifies a sample area on a pile. It would identify a random sample identifing  diameter classes and to estimate total m3 volume of pile.  Notice every stick inside the square has been marked, likely to say the diameter was measured.

Numbers on the pile, just a guess

3  16-- March 16 scale date

45.00/364  pile 45m long avg height 3.64m    +/-  516m3st or 143 cord

P3  pile #3

Jean-Guy,

Do you remember any previous winters like this one? Very low snow in your area all winter and it looks like the riding is kaputt in your area already.

I have ridden up there in mid to late April and remember more snow than you have now.
