ChrisWright Posted January 2, 2017 Report Share Posted January 2, 2017 Hello all, was thinking about running up through Quebec from Jackman Me and crossing back over in Escourt Station. I had a couple questions and was hoping someone might be able to help me out. 1) Looks like we could cross the border in Jackman anytime during the day, but would be limited in Escourt Station. Does anybody know what the open times are? 2) Quebec trail pass, can we pick these up just outside the Jackman border when we cross? If so, where's the best place 3) Lodging in Escourt Station or Pohenegamook, is there any available? If we were to stay on the Quebec side that night with the intent to cross back into Maine first thing in the AM, would a valid trail pass be required to cross? We could make the run up in one day, but likely not much further than that. Concerned that the only lodging might be in Pohenegamook. Thanks for any help anyone may have to offer. Just starting to plan at this point. Does anyone know if there's a place to get a Quebec day permit near the Jackman border crossing? I think we would like to start there and finish in Estcourt Station. Thanks so much for the info thus far. It's really appreciated. viper2 Posted January 3, 2017 Report Share Posted January 3, 2017 I had seen and talked to a guy on the Northern Maine Snowmobiling facebook page back on Dec. 20th. He is the trailmaster for the Allagash Snowmobile Club and says he groomed it last year with his Skandic and plans to do the same this year until he can talk the club into grooming it. Just an FYI when you cross from Quebec you will leave the lake just behind the Villa Des Frontieres then through their property across road and under the RR tracks there will be no signs. The Canadian Customs will be straight ahead the house with the plaque on that the International Boundry is on is to the left of that (That's my profile pic) If you make a left at the Canadian Customs and go to the end of the road you will see a Granite monument which is the Northernmost point in Maine. You don't have to stop at the Canadian customs because you are already in Canada but you will go past it and continue maybe a half mile up the road to the US customs. A word of warning when you come off the Lake under the RR tracks and make the right to head to US customs you will see a gas station on the left DO NOT go into the gas station without going to the US customs because the Gas is in the US. There have been issues there in the past after especially after 911 when a Quebec citizen entered the gas station illegally and was imprisoned. It evidently escalated to the point where Colin Powell had to make a trip up there to smooth things out. Also not sure how things will be early in the winter as that is still logging season and all the roads in the Allagash where the snowmobile trail runs on are private and maintained by the logging companies so some could be plowed Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I am a member of the Northern FB page and Dan from Allagash indicated that he is maintaining this trail again this year with his sled and sled groomer. He said he has it signed and opened up. That's pretty amazing for one person to do. I hope all who might use that trail give him a huge shout out. Thanks for explaining the gas station thing, I had read that on dootalk as well, but they didn't offer an explanation as to why you couldn't stop, just to make sure not to stop. Yes Chris Wright, that is the post I was talking about I was the the guy talking back and forth with him. Ice fisherman and other guys collecting Moose sheds use those logging roads so I would make sure you either have a GPS track or study the road map before you go because I doubt there will be trail signs to any extent. If you have the GPS trailmasters maps for Maine the old trail is on there. There used to be a video online where a TV station from Bangor went to Estcourt and did a story on it but I can't seem to find it.
