Mission Aborted

The plan was drop in Baie Sainte Paul and do the North Shore to Sept Iles. Got to BSP Sunday afternoon and checked in and found the first issue, the Hotel BSP has changed their policy on truck/trailer parking. They wanted to charge us 15/ day seven though we rented 4 rooms for the night. They told us if we reserved for a night on the return they would charge only $25/ week. Then after we are all unloaded they want the keys to the trucks in case they need to move them to plow yeah right smh forget it we say we will move up the road tomorrow so they change their mind. Last time staying there for sure. Next we find out big storm brewing for Tuesday for North shore lol here we go. We take off Monday thinking Escoumins or Forestville but need to watch the weather. Take 378 to 54 local to 94 to 3 lunch in Tadoussac. Looks like the storm will come so we run to Escoumins and will decide the next move there. More later only 160 miles

Looks like a mission readjustment, not so bad you are still riding.

Hotel BSP gave us the same deal last March.  Nice place to ride out of but some ridiculous polices and pricing.

They don't really care about sleds or truck/trailer parking. They get enough skiers to keep them full. I should say people coming to start trips there specifically. As they do just fine with people coming for 1 night by sled then continuing on.

Well i would say check the grooming in the morning but "i been there done that got the t-shirt" up that way is tough going after a big storm. Tougher in the storm, eh boys? Maybe bail north to the Lake through Valin.

That was when we moved upriver to Richards then below at the Coconut .Do you know if the shuttle still goes there? We may try the Drakkar someday when we launch from that side of the river.

You have stayed at Motel Coconut? Yes you can get the"shuttle" across there it's a flatbed(roll back) tow truck.

Quite a few times.Much nicer to get to now that they finished the highway on the southside.Always a nice view behind the bar and the fishtanks are nice to look at too!

Martin at hotel complexe Pelchat came to find us to tell us to get out of Dodge lol he said the snow could be measured in feet and he wouldn't groom until at least Thursday so our decision was easy. We woke up this morning and made tracks up the Pelchat trail for Mt. Valins. Wasn't groomed recently but nice. Gassed at Chappelle then had lunch at Valinouet at The Bistro. Continued on 93 to Alma for the night. Thought I posted this once but never seemed to go through

Wednesday we woke up to 5-6" of snow and still snowing/ freezing rain. Left the Universal a little late and headed south on 23 to Yamaha dealer to pick up a belt. Left about 10 headed up 23 and straight across 93 onto 555 the rain is light but freezing on our shields it will continue for most of the day before turning back to snow in the evening. We take 555 to 328 to Begin then take the local up to Lamarche and on to Mount Vilain for lunch. After lunch take 367 to Saints Monique get gas and continue on 367 through Peribonka and stop at Relais Vauvert for a break. Onto 93 then the local 901 to 701 then take 715 into Saint Felician and to the Hotel Du Jardin for the night. Only 150 miles most trails hadn't been groomed but not bad.

Wanted to stay close to the 83 for Thursday so we could get a good start. Took 373 to the local 711 to Saint Hedgewich and on 83 west to Relay 22. The 83 at this end is using much more of the road again than in recent years and we are on the road almost all the way to the first warming shack.  Trail had been groomed last night and we are first tracks. 83 after the snowmobile bridge was also fresh groomed and fast into Relay22 where we had lunch. Continued on 83 but not groomed in some time going toward Wemotaci was pretty crappy especially the second half. When we hit the road 20 miles before Wemo you can bet we took it. Gassed at Wemo then made tracks on 83 west, not groomed since the snow but still nice all the way to the turn off for Barrage Gouin. The trail to Barrage Gouin wasn't touched since the snow and only 1 track was loose but smooth. 242 miles for the day. 7 in our group they all had the Walleye I took the calves liver it was great. Time to start heading back to the truck I guess, some challenging conditions the last couple days but just glad to be riding

Sounds like a good ride! Not bad for 7 in the group! I'm guessing all 7 are experienced riders.

All experienced riders, 4 men three women. Sometimes a challenge to find a pee stop for the ladies but they will go on the trail if need be. The biggest challenge is gas and lunch stops just takes too long but splitting a group like this is not really an option

Bernard at the Safari used to charge too.He was the first one we ran into that did that.

Bernard charged the nites you were gone, if you were in the Safari for the nite, no charge. Plus the 1st Heck and Ringi Dang Doo were free.
