Got gas.?

Three of us are thinking of doing a quick last horra trip next week. Shawinigan to Chibougamau, and come back the next day. Yes, we are aware it's about 440 miles, but we are all accustomed to 4-500 mile days. None of us have ever been up past St. Felician before. Wondering how the trail is? Can we keep a fast pace or is it winding or mountainous? Also, Via Explorer doesn't show any gas stops. We each carry 3 gallons, probably only good for about 110 miles in good conditions. Thanks all thoughts appreciated

Last gas before Chibougamau is LaDore its 160 miles. There is fuel at the saw mill on 93 north but I believe it would put you right about 110 miles to Chib. 4 - 500 mile days those are big days where can you pull off a 500 miler?

You can do 400+ in most of Canada when the stars align..First you need 2-3 guys max that will take off early, ride late, only spend as much time eating as it takes to fuel the machine and don't like to stop and B.S. Trails need to be mostly flat and open. That's why I'd like to know how the trail is to Chiboug... Makes me nervous if there's no gas from la Dore to Chiboug, especially since it will be late evening...Via explorer doesn't show any gas..Where exactly is the saw mill and does anyone know there hours? Thanks

Saw mill is about 45 miles from La Dore right on the 93. Trail goes right through it. There is always someone there. Don't think what time you get there is an issue.

Trail runs right through, gas pump is next to cafeteria and restrooms just poke around you will find it. Then you need to wait for the attendant to pump the gas. Cash only. Usually they have no change to give.

Trail to Chibougamau has some flat and open, kind of a mix of lots of stuff. Not the fastest but not the slowest. In the middle. Yes, some parts real fast others not so much.

Where to stay in Chiboug? How many hours from La Dore u figure?

About 5hrs give or take if you truly keep moving. Might be closer to 6hrs. Depending on the trail and how long at sawmill. Guy is not just standing at pump to give you gas he has other duties. So once he knows you need gas he will come and give it to you.

In Chibougamau is

Nordic     http://www.motelnordic.com/ easier to find, no restaurant at hotel.

or

Hotel Chibougamau  http://hotelchibougamau.com/  downtown in the bustling metropolis of Chibougamau. Litlle harder to get too but nice.

See here for more details
