Several interveners have been attempting since the beginning of the evening to locate a vehicle fallen in the Sainte-Anne River at Sainte-Anne-des-Monts. A man in his thirties and a 2 year old are missing and the vehicle was not found. One woman managed to get out of the vehicle and cling to a branch. The victim was taken to the hospital, but her life is not in danger, said the Sûreté du Québec. The vehicle was traveling on the Route des Saint Joseph des Monts when it fell into the river about ten kilometers from the river St Laurent. The level of the Sainte-Anne River is very high and causes flooding. Moreover, in this sector, a few residences were evacuated. In the Bas-St-Laurent region, two operational centers were deployed, one in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and the other in Matane, due to flooding. At the time of writing, at 23:00, about twenty police and firefighters are conducting research using ATVs and boats. Two helicopters, one from the Sûreté du Québec and the other from the Canadian Armed Forces, will be deployed.
Cnc
I saw this on the news. It appears sadly that they drove across a flooded road and the current swept the car off the road into the river. I understand at this Tim they have found the man but not the kid.
