mikerider
On SledMagazine.com's Trail Conditions they list trail conditions by region and each region reports from each club. As of now, Bas St-Laurent has 8 greens (fully open/excellent) and 2 yellows (open/use caution). No other area comes close. Last year Bas St-Laurent was the first to report all green for the entire region. Looks like it is time to fire up the sleds. If things keep progressing at this rate, hope to see you all around the 7th or 8th of January. mike RoadRunner

RoadRunner
We left Victoriaville heading for RDL via trail 35 and than up to 5 at Saint Gervais. We continued to experience what, I call, marginal snow conditions. Bare spots in some fields, clicking frozen ground and rocks on some trails. Still very rideable, but not what you would call classic Quebec trail conditions. It still is only January 4 th, so we are not complaining 😉, just relaying the conditions. The 5 from St Gervais to Montmagny was by far the worst section, very rough and lots a gravel clicking along the hwy leading into Montmagny. Once we started out of Montmagny and got into some elevation the everything changed to the better. The conditions from Here to RDL, where much more , good, classic Quebec trail riding. The pics below depict how our afternoon went however, Backcountry 603 lost his 850 motor 30 Miles east of Montmagny , so unfortunately his trip was done, we continued on to RDL, and by this time the “Bomb Cyclone” was kicking in making the last 75 Miles very interesting traveling considering it was dark, heavy snow and high winds. We commented last night, over a few beers, how you would be going along and all of a sudden the snow and blowing snow off the trees would completely white out your view for seconds at a time. We proceeded with the right tempo and caution. Arriving into the RDL club house around 6:30. A full 275 mile day for sure. Today we will see how the going is, and head for Moose Valley NB. The snow from last night and high winds will make this a fun ride for sure😉 Things should only continue to improve with each storm here Happy Trails RR Trailblazer

RoadRunner
Today we found out what the Bomb Cyclone was all about, we were heading to Moose valley for the night but we did not make that by a long shot. We ended up with 80 Miles for the day of some of the best powder riding we had experienced since the Gaspe 10 years ago. It was a fun, exhausting day of laughs, exercise and memories. We found in some areas 42” of new snow in the trails. Light fluffy snow that if you could see and keep the snow from plugging the air intakes you could go on a 137” , but the 154 was an added bonus and the snow bungies got worked a lot. We had an absolutely great time playing in this Bomb Cyclone Snow Blast! Heading west tomorrow so we can enjoy the frigid temps that are coming tonight, home Sunday night. The last two pics, the sled is not stuck, and sitting in the middle of the 544 trail, just west of St Hubert! Think more snow😉 doonali, Florida Snowman, Phil 1 and 2 others 3
Je me souviens
That is some serious powder! I am already out of breath and sweating just looking at the pictures. My 1200 would not have even left the parking lot...lol. I remember Bernard telling us that the best way to get going again was to lay down in front of the sled and start making snow angels. Man that guy was funny. Always ready for your arrival with a Heck of a beer. I guess a skandic SWT might have come in handy today. Keep posting pics RR. RoadRunner
Today we headed back west, ran 5 to Mt Carmel, down to 35 to Tourville for lunch. Than 35 to saint Damien de Buckland, than onto Levi’s for the night. A cold but great ride, the 35 was nicely covered the entire length with good snow, and the 547 trail to 5 in St Gervais was good. A cold ....but good 200 mile ride. Tomorrow, back to Maine, for a nice, 1150 mile ride, with a very wide spectrum of riding conditions. We met several, sleds out and about today, Tourville was busy doonali and vt_bluyamaha54

Je me souverne, and Doonali, our biggest issues were keeping air going to the engine and visibility, other than that we could have gone a lot further. The 154 track does give you a much wider range of capacity. But as Doonali says , that 1200, 137 will also get it done, just works harder to do it and is a bit less forgiving if you miscalculate and get into a bad hole😉. Overall, we just loved getting to experience that much powder all at once, as I posted last night, this pic has the sled sitting in the middle of trail 544 and was not stuck, just needed to clear out shield for visibility. Standing up and leaning forward was the only way you could keep vision, but when you hit the drifts or extra deep spots , you lost all vision, a fun experience for sure! doonali, Scranton1 and 182ray
