I’m doing good this morning. I was supposed to make a left and take 561 over to 35. I missed it and we take 559 to 5 east. Backtracking is always big with Gemma. I am like hey more seat time. On 559 we came across some traffic (deer). We take the 561 over to 35 and head south. 5 and 561 were in great condition.

35 was looking in good condition. We passed a groomer coming toward us. We take 557 toward Saint-Pamphile. 557 is in fantastic shape. We find out later the we had passed Mcstar. Sorry we missed them. We make our way the the clubhouse go in and sit down. In comes Mike, Joe and Jack. Sorry mike you can’t get rid of us😂

After lunch we get on 55 west. I stop to fuel up. We went 120 miles my gas light comes on at the gas station. As we go west the snow tapered off. We take 55 to 549 and head for Mont-St Maglorie. The trails are in nice condition up to the turn off for the view. It’s not a great day for viewing but we go through the motions. It always feels colder on the mountains. There is a breeze that makes your hands hurt.

We have about 30 minutes of day light left. We head for Montmagny. 347 is a bit different then my GPS shows. We make a gas stop and head for 35. The rail bed is super nice we make great time. We get on 551 it is also in nice shape but this is a twisty trail. It starts snowing again. We make our way to 5. As we approach Montmagny there are open fields and the wind is whipping blowing snow sideways. I was thinking of a conversation I had with Mike earlier. He spoke about this area. We rolled in with 249 miles.

We have been thinking a lot about Don. For us his contributions are in valuable. This site has been special in that we try to help and inform one another. It’s a crying shame when a person insults a major contributor out of nowhere.

I just wanted to say I really miss your input. I have had the privilege of learning about Quebec trails from your eloquent, informative, humorous posts.

I hope your having a great season.

I was wondering why the Iceman wasn't posting. Wow you think Iceman would have a little bit thicker skin than that. One little insult and off he goes. Very dissapointed in both parties. Iceman and his reports are missed very much. Too bad for all !

This site isn't the same without his input. The knowledge he shared  help us all out and so many ways.

No kidding ! I just figured Icemans posts would get funnier and more creative after that little dig !

maybe he’ll reconsider ?

I don’t know for sure because I haven’t spoken to Don.

When someone goes out of their way to help people like Don has for many years. Why should he have to tolerate any B.S.

I hope he realizes that many people appreciate what he does to make this site fun, interesting and informative.

I saw the dig at Don before I went to bed and thought that's not gonna go over that well. In the morning everything was deleted so I figured it musta been a  helluva reply!  But now everyone is offended by everything, Ridiculous!

We get up to 35. I want to make some time here. As we head east there is more and more powder. It’s swirling around the dash covering everything. I start to feel a vibration coming from the track. I stop to take a look. There is a giant block of packed snow in the tunnel. I clear it out and start making time again. Several miles later it happened again. I clear it out and get moving again. Several miles later repeat. Now I slow it down about 10 mph and it doesn’t happen again. That was a first for us. We take our powder ride to 557 and head for 5.

We continue on we are going to stop at Trois-Pistoles. Well it starts snowing and the way the lighting was I couldn’t see anything but white. I could see red stakes but not the trail. So much for making time. We make our way over to the clubhouse. Gemma gets off and I head over for gas. It’s a 4 mile trip. I can’t believe my eyes the sky is clear. I can see across the Saint Lawrence to the other side. What a difference 4 miles makes. I get back to pickup Gemma and it’s snowing. We have 70 miles to go. We get going and as we go east it starts to clear up. 5 is in good shape. Riding the power line is fast. We make good time over to Rimouski.

We get off 5 onto the local straight over to 579 and on to Valga. We arrived at 6:40 with 278 miles.

At the hotel is Mario his wife and their friend Frank. We have snowmobiling storytelling over dinner. It’s super nice meeting QR people on the trail.

Wednesday

In the morning we all have breakfast and decided to take a ride over to the radar tower to see the mummies. Here at Valga it’s snowing with a 16f temperature. We are looking outside at the view and a bird lands on the deck making a racket. The owner Eric goes out with some bread and the bird jumps in his hand. He said the name of the bird in French which translates to thief.

We all clean off our machines pack up and we’re off. 579 is in nice condition.
