GT Rider
We met a couple of guys from Maine at the clubhouse. After a nice chat we head off to RDL. Gemma asked me to check her heat control. It died out. We head off. We make our way to the hotel drive around back and meet up with Mike and Jak. Mike offers to help us out and get us to the dealer for a new heat control. Many thanks Mike. Thanks to Jak for your generosity. I can’t have my better half cold out on the trail (we have communicators 😂). We finished up with 154 miles. I had a few chances to see how the turbo makes boost. GT Rider
Friday We are staying in RDL for a couple of days. I am able to leave a bunch of weight behind. The machine is much happier and so are we. We get going a bit late it’s after 9:00. We have a blue sky day @ 21f. We take the local orange trail cutting under 20. We head south toward Kamourska and get on 559. PLAYHARD, MrGutz and towing
GT Rider
The trails are perfect. We are off the a nice start. We take 559 to 5 to 557. towing, mikerider, PLAYHARD and 2 others
GT Rider
We get on 35 south to 55. We are heading to the Saint Pamphile clubhouse for lunch. 35 is in real nice shape we are motoring along. towing, PLAYHARD and Florida Snowman
GT Rider
The 55 is also very nice. I see a gas station at Sainte Perpetue and am thinking should I stop. We keep going. We make our way to the golf course clubhouse At the 55/557 intersection. There are a lot of snowmobiles there. I am looking for a gas pump now. I decide to turn back to the last one. It’s a 10 mile back track. Ok back we go I get on 557 instead of staying on 55 to the Saint Pamphile clubhouse (our destination). 557 is beautiful. The trail is super. One problem I haven’t stopped for Gemma to use a restroom and there is nothing on this trail. No pictures I have to move. We back track 35 to 557 to the intersection of 5 and stop at the clubhouse for a quick snack. towing, zeusand, MrGutz and 1 other
GT Rider
After our break we head back to 35. We take it to Pohenegamook. We stop to fuel up. The trails are nice we are having great luck today. After fueling up we take 35 to the 85 intersection and head back to RDL. We hit about 10 miles of beat trail on 35 before getting to 85. Once we hit 85 it’s it’s fresh groomed. We pass a groomer going the opposite direction without a drag. He is just traveling on the trail. About 10 miles later we catch the groomer that is making our white carpet. When we pass him the trail is really good. He is making good perfect. We get to the hotel at 7. We had a great day. towing
your report and pictures are outstanding Jim! I really enjoy. Glad for you that the trail conditions get back to normal, I really know what it is to ride two-up in those conditions: you are strong ones! I read that you are staying a couple day in Rivière du loup, we are driving today to Hotel Universel in RDL to launch sunday morning from there, aligning our skis toward New Brunswick. I don't know if you stay at Universel but if so it would be great to meet you again and chat a bit. I leave you a pm. enjoy your trip, keep the rubber on the down side, but not too deep!!! GT Rider
We crossed the sea ice to Norte-Dame-Des-Sept-Douleurs. We are having a Latte at Cafe D’Alphe. The owner said we are the first New Yorkers to come in. We made it to the light house. Thanks for the tip Mike. towing
GT Rider
Saturday It is another blue sky day the temperature is 29f. I have to adjust my track and chain this morning. We get off to a late start 10:15. Once again thanks to Mike for the loan of your tools and stand. We head out and take 526 to 85 to 567 east. The trails are looking good. We spot a big white rooster tail in the distance. We don’t see equipment like that on Long Island. GT Rider
We are looking across the ice at the island Notre-Dame-Des-sept-Douleurs. I’m looking for the trail across to see if it’s doable today. There is a small building on the shore where we spot the tree line across. There’s a few snowmobiles heading over. Off we go. When we get across we bare right along the shore following the trees. We pull up at the clubhouse. PLAYHARD, MrGutz and towing
GT Rider
We head east on the fresh groomed trail. We spot the sign for the ferry and drop down to check out the view. towing, MrGutz and PLAYHARD
GT Rider
We continue on to the east end of the island. We spot where a tree fell across the trail and it was cut clear. We get to the end and it’s a beautiful view. Pictures won’t do justice. MrGutz and PLAYHARD
GT Rider
We back track and make a right. It takes us to the lighthouse. The wind has coated ice all around here. The building next to the lighthouse has about a foot coating top to bottom. I am switching taking photos with iPhone and my camera so pics I’m looking for aren’t on the iPhone. mccaffrey, PLAYHARD, towing and 2 others 4
GT Rider
We head back to explore the west side of the island. Along the way we spot a cafe we’re coming back. The island is 14k long. We make our way to the west end check the view and head for the cafe. We have some caffeine and a nice chat with the owner. He says he’s had people from Vt, NH but we are the first from NY. Its getting late I will continue later. mccaffrey, MrGutz, im4snow and 3 others
mikerider
Last time I went to the Island it was bare of snow from the wind. After seeing your pictures, we are headed there this morning. Thanks Jim & Gemma. mike GT Rider
