Signature hotel , Quebec City

Interesting.

Been curious about riding to Quebec City to stay a couple nights and go into the city to look around and/or chow. Some friends tell the story of riding the Harleys 25 years ago into old QC and being escorted out by QPD. They weren’t too welcoming to bikes. LOL

Im sure there is taxi’s and/or Uber ? Are their cab rates similar to US ? How far is it into the belly of the beast from this hotel ? Is this right on a trail or is it a little sidewalk riding into it ? Are the trails leading into the hotel area area decent ? Any recommendations for a nice traditional french QC dinner you guys have tried in this area ?

Any QC advice is awesome. As you can tell I haven't been there since I was a kid. Wife saw some foodie show on the city at some point and has been asking if we can sled there. I know we can...but should we is what Im wondering !

This was L'Etape this week Wednesday and Thursday, 369 groomed and 23 down to St Raymond and all of Quebec City.  They are supposed to get another 8 inches ending Tuesday the 16th.  There is so much snow there still.

Must have missed you guys, we were in L Etape Thursday and on to Mt Valin Friday, It was mid winter in Mt Valin, all groomed and no mud anywhere. Could not believe it was mid april, but late day sun and mild temps were great. Saw Greg on Friday at the Chapel. Good summer to all.

  • 4 weeks later...

We rode out of hotel signature this March.  It is a good setup and the free shuttle downtown is a bonus.  My wife loved the ice hotel (its north of town and you have to drive your own vehicle to it). The hotel is very snowmobilier friendly.  Only thing I'd say is go mid week.  The traffic in the area on the weekends is detrimental to a good holiday.  We left on a saturday morning headed for Saguenay.  There was lots of fresh grooming, but by 10 am everything along the north shore of the river (TQ 3 essentially) was trashed.  We met hundreds and hundreds of sleds.  We didn't find smooth trails until we swung north on TQ 83.  The scenery is great, was loads of snow and I do believe the grooming is very consistent, but the traffic was unreal.  I can honestly say I won't go back on a weekend to the Quebec City / Charlevoix area.  I'd start from St Raymond and try and stay further north.  That or drive right through to Saguenay or Tadoussac.

In late February , on a friday, we rode from Saguenney back down 83.  83 was perfect. Got down to 3 west, and it was almost immediatly bumpy. Had lunch at the 1st relay. The name of which escapes me, buts its one cabin like big room  with 6mil poly all over the rafters to stop leaks I guess, but fast service and great chow. There were lots of sleds there and from that point on 3 was a bounce fest for the next 50 miles, until we got close to St anne-de-beaupre, and a new club tookover.

Gotta say, over the years, the section east of St Anne de beaupre, until about 10 miles south of the 83-3 split, is rarely good and often bad.

And the Pig farm smells around Clermont just add to the ambiance

Rule #1 of riding in Quebec: Do not ride through or around Quebec City on the weekend.

I feel that the Quebec City Traffic is due too the bottleneck that is caused by Rt3, the Auto Bridge located in QC (Ease of Access to North Side), Tour Groups Launching from QC that Fly in.

Just plan accordingly, take the time, Enjoy the Ride.
